0006 Rumbles on Rangent
Re: 0006 Rumbles on Rangent
Sigrún smiles at Twiggy and replies obliquely "Same family - distant branch".
She then eats the paper.
Once back aboard instead of locking the new weapons in the armoury she hands them out. "Standard ACRs: better sights and ammo options than autorifles and these will fire suppressed. The special low velocity "frag" ammo is good for starship interiors. We haven't got access to all the special ammo options yet but it's a start. If you favour autopistols try them with the suppressors - it changes the balance". She grins at Karcsi "I got you a good steel bayonet for your ACR "Spear Brother"!" giving a Zaki a warm smile and... a certain gaze... she offers an ACR and an SMG "I bought you presents to go with your new outfit from the furrier!"
To her comrades in general she opines "We should leave here as soon as the repairs are done. A deep space jump to Phlume might throw off pursuit. I have a code to contact the pirates out in the black. It will be risky to use but we might gain some knowledge about the pirates and those that operate out of Dinom. I think I remember hunting them so they might remember hunting me...".

Re: 0006 Rumbles on Rangent
Once we're packed and ready, Flighty will call the crew to the galley. Once they've arrived, he'll lay out his concerns.
"I feel like we're on a countdown and the time is running out," he'll say without preamble. "We can get to Phlume either by going through Tionale or empty space and a second jump. The former makes my skin crawl, as if someone chasing us would find us there. We'll arrive in Phlume with no fuel and I wish we had enough space to pack some away in the hold to refine and then make a third jump. Basically, I feel a target on us and I can't help but think this is a warning from the new talents. I want to get out of this system and get out now. Are we ready to go?"

Re: 0006 Rumbles on Rangent
Sigrún offers "Neither Tionale nor Phlume have gas giants but both are "wet" enough for surface refuelling. Phlume does have an asteroid belt where we could prospect for ice to use as fuel. It's not ideal but it's a worst case option. Tionale is a backwater where they would expect to find us and its therefore ideal as a place for ambush. Yes, we're riding in empty to Phlume but that's what our new disguise is for. We join the agric traders and ship in and out with the crowd".terrymixon wrote: ↑Sat Sep 14, 2024 10:12 pm Once we're packed and ready, Flighty will call the crew to the galley. She then asks "Do you want me to risk contact with the Rangent pirates? We might gain some Intel or we might end up in a fight we could have avoided. My head is still too broken to tell you any more... We can at least immediately jump if things go wrong".

Flighty shook his head. "I don't see the upside to counter the risk. Better, I think, that we hit the road. Perhaps we could spread word we're going to see them but then jump out without making contact. Then if anyone is chasing us, they might go looking there and find a whole lot of trouble without us doing squat.Tiglath wrote: ↑Sat Sep 14, 2024 11:15 pmSigrún offers "Neither Tionale nor Phlume have gas giants but both are "wet" enough for surface refuelling. "We're going to have to land one place or another to refuel. I think you're right that Phlume would be a better port of call. What transponder IDs do we have to roll out?"

"Thank you for the bayonet, I will have to practice with it. It will be fun!"
"Also, I will go where ever you guys decide, I am not from around here, so Just tell when to get out of the metal box and kick ass, Ha ha."

"It will be just like your spear - same skill set. I suppose it might take you a day or so to master it..." Sigrún gives a predatory smile "... so you will be weaker in combat and I will beat you!"

Zaki spends her off duty time with Sigrun, using her skills to have Sigrun talk out her doubts and frustrations.Eris wrote: ↑Sat Sep 14, 2024 8:54 pmSigrun has things on her mind. She is remembering that she had a mission to gather info about a pirate band, but the details are fuzzy. She feels like it was members of that organization that took her out on... Oh she can't remember where it was exactly, Arden, Caloran? It was at night and outside a bar, though, and they spoke Sagamaal. That bothers her for some reason that she can't put her finger on. It started bothering her more once she read the words that Twiggy wrote on that piece of paper, pirates speaking Sagamaal shouldn't be a surprise...those pirates speaking Sagamaal shouldn't have been a surprise, either, but something about it has starting making her brain itch.

Zaki will soon learn that in "warrior mode" Sigrún has no doubts but many frustrations and even more irritations. Fortunately while she's busy being "alpha" she proves to be as challenging a patient as usual but very easy to "physically distract"...joertexas wrote: ↑Sun Sep 15, 2024 6:47 pmZaki spends her off duty time with Sigrun, using her skills to have Sigrun talk out her doubts and frustrations.Eris wrote: ↑Sat Sep 14, 2024 8:54 pmSigrun has things on her mind. In Sigrún's head: Deflected by a sweep of her axe the bayonet goes wide and, instead of recovering her axe, she drops her shoulder to slam the PDF trooper backwards. Surprised by the unorthodox move he trips over a body and falls. She stamps down, pinning his weapon and raises her axe two handed. For different reasons she and the trooper both scream...
In Sigrún's bed: silence follows her brutal war shout as she rapidly re-orients from her dream state to reality. Coated in a fever sweat Sigrún sits up in bed, throws her head back and begins to laugh...

Beside her, Zaki leans up on her elbow and forearm. She'd added an extended section to the bunk to make it wide enough for two. "Are you okay?"

Re: 0006 Rumbles on Rangent
Sigrún replies "Já, auðvitað af hverju ætti ég ekki að vera það? Then distractedly "Speaking Sagamaal is key..." she irritatedly shakes her head as if dazed. She then adds "I had a "wolf dream" about the fight on Silver - not everyone gets them. They are a gift from the All Father...". Zaki notices Sigrún increasingly "noticing" her. Sigrún uses the back of her hand to wipe her own mouth "I dreamt the raid. My Úlfhéðnar pack were inside the defences and running wild. I hunted a defence trooper - he was trying to hide. Ég lagði öxlina í hann". Sigrún's accent is thick as her shoulder pushes Zaki down and she transfers her weight onto her. In the sub lit room light catches on predatory bright mismatched eyes and white teeth above Zaki "Then... I pinned him and finished him". She kisses Zaki. Voraciously.
(OOC: Swordy Trans service: Yes, of course, why shouldn't I be? / I put my shoulder into him)

Zaki doesn't resist Sigrun's kiss, but she gently pushes at her lover's chest. "Sigrun, take control of yourself. Relax."Tiglath wrote: ↑Sun Sep 15, 2024 9:26 pmSigrún replies "Já, auðvitað af hverju ætti ég ekki að vera það? Sigrún lowers herself into the kiss with a guttural intake of breath that could possibly be mistaken for a snarl.
She kisses Zaki deeply and intensely only then seeming to heed Zaki's words and noticing the hand on her chest which causes her some momentary confusion. Apparently sated with kisses she then gives a lazy smile "Did you dream Zaki? I think I chased a dream... Mmmm... you are so... what is it you say? Snuggly...?". She settles herself back into bed and immediately falls into deep sleep.

OOC: You have papers and transponder codes for the following ships: ???Name??? flagged out of Sacnoth/Sword Worlds; ???Name??? flagged out of Arden/Federation of Arden; ???Name??? flagged out of Lunion/Third Imperium; and The New Chance flagged out of Glisten/Third Imperium.
IOW, you need to give the "artist" some names for your new identities. I also think, you should decide where you're going to hide the papers and cartridges containing the various Transponder Codes just in case your ship is searched during and inspection. To keep it in game...
Doug speaks up, "So what names do we have for our ship now, I know we're not going by The New Chance, at least for a while, and where are we storing the ones we aren't using?"

Sigrún immediately says "Skíðblaðnir" and then compulsively tells the ships story. "This is the ship owned by the god Freyr. It can sail on sea or land and is mentioned in the sagas" she concludes with "It is not too warlike a name and yet is common enough to be duplicated anywhere Sword World culture is celebrated".terrymixon wrote: ↑Mon Sep 16, 2024 10:41 pm "Sigrun should choose the Sword World name. (OOC: Anglicized = Skidbladnir or Skithblathnir.
At the risk of a retcon / addition Sigrún's undocumented and is going to need a basic Swordy ID card to qualify as a passenger or deckhand let alone occupy a crew position. If the forger can provide that then we're good - otherwise she might not be allowed off the ship anywhere civilized!

What do you mean that would be a good thing???

Re: 0006 Rumbles on Rangent
OOC: These names okay with everybody?
IG: Sigrun has a chat with Dotty Klingmaster who is preparing papers and transponder codes for your ship.
Dotty nods, "So, you've lost your ID, eh? It happens now and then. I can make you one that will pass any inspection anywhere, but it'll cost you Cr1,000. If that's too rich, I can make you one that'll pass cursory checks for 300. I'd spring for the good one, if it was my neck on the line, but that's your choice."
"I'll need the name and personal details and the photo you want on the ID, plus we'll have to do a fingerprint, retinal scan and a DNA sample to encode into the ID." she says, "Different systems do different tests depending upon their tech levels. Some low level ones only check the photo, but as you go up they'll be adding the others and in some cases, doing multiple tests."
"Glisten even adds ear shape scans to ID checks on humans, vargr, and aslan as those species each have unique ear shapes for each individual." she adds with a chuckle, "Personally, I think they do that to make folks take off their vacc suit helmets during the tests."
