IX7, a startup incubator located at the National Renewable Energy Conglomerate in Colorado, announced a new partnership with Aker Tech (Chicago), CoverCress (St. Louis), Intinsyx Bio (Los Altos, CA), RNAaissance AG (St. Louis), and SolGro (Arlington, TX) to cooperatively develop the cross-plant/bacteria/human/fungus genome Cas9-27b. IX7’s efforts, underway now for 3 years, focus on the interconnection of food, water, and energy.

IX7 now has 30 companies in its portfolio and have raised $372 million in follow-on funding from other resources. New products have been in development for 6 months and are expected to hit distributors and store shelves within a few weeks.

Yeah, missing corpses in Voodoo capital, USA can't be good. On the other hand, this can't be the first time a dead body has gone missing there.

IX7 rep Angela Marketo shared her company’s “New York Rat” strategy today with PSCF representatives.

“We have always been a big proponent of giving back to the community. I mean everyone has family right? Money isn’t everything, and when safety comes in to question – and that’s what this is about right, protecting our families? – Then why shouldn’t we share our scientific gains.”

Angela told us that Mice are loaded with bacteria and superbug germs, and their research in mice led them to assist with the Rat problem. She didn’t share specifics, but did say their scientists were able to isolate specific bacterial genes, and then modified them to be particularly potent to rats. Rats and Mice aren’t specifically interchangeable when it comes to genetics, but their gut bacteria are (Angela shared). CRISP allowed them to create a superbug, a hybrid between Rat gut bacteria and several strains of mice superbugs, based on DNA specific to the Rat. “Using Mice and Rats in science is extensive and well documented. We have learned a great deal in the last ten years alone,” Angela said.

“We are extremely happy with the results so far, and are confident that this is just the beginning of a brighter, healthier future for us all.”
