Session 1: Red Larch

To Red Larch
It's mid-morning on a cool day with a brisk breeze, and your journey has you heading east on the Kheldell Path en route to Red Larch, the nearest town.

To your right, the south, are the Westwoods, a tangled and varied forest cloaking the eastern foothills of the Sword Mountains, which are behind you.

Approximately 200-feet in front of you, you witness what appears to be a man kicking the side of a cart that rests just off to the right side of the path.

The man does not appear to notice you.

My day has forced me to keep this introduction short, but it still essentially captures what I had planned... so we're good.

I haven't had the time to create my usual "footer" detail which summarizes the game and character status, but I hope to have that in place for my next update.

The dwarf stops and calls to the man kicking the cart "Hey you! What are yah doin' kickin' someone else's cart eh?" he moves up to the cart off the road to see if anyone is in need of aid "Disrespectful, ain't nobody round these parts know how to respect other's an their property?" he mutters along the way to anyone listening but nobody specifically. He calls out once closer to the cart "Be there anyone near this cart needing aid? Fear not I'm friend not foe."

Speaking softly to Delgrot. "Delgrot. How do we know that isn't his cart?"

Unna strides along beside Delgrot keeping an eye out for any sign of an ambush.

The dwarf priest gives pause after hearing Unna's words "Truth be told, I ain't thought o' that. But I ain't seen too many owners kick their own cart then run off either."

"True." Yelling so that the man kicking the cart can hear her. "Do you need some assistance?"

Nexus Greystone Gnome Male Illusionist Lv 1 HP 06/06 A/C 2

The flamboyant gnome wanders up behind the dwarves, his sky blue robes billowing out around him and his long white blonde hair rippling out behind him as he moves.

COOEY!! Over here! What’s up with your cart good sir? I don’t mean to tell you about your business but back in gnomevale we didn’t find kicking the carts helped fix the problem. Just sayin .... he says with a smile and a wave. Whats happened? Can my strong obliging fellow companions assist you in any way. I am SURE they would love to help!

Ardium looks at the others and wonders if he ever saw why someone would kick their own cart. He figures only if it broke a wheel and spilled their harvest. He goes to investigate.

[Zhym]

Roderick is about to offer the man whatever assistance he might require when a chorus rises up from the others conveying just that offer. He waits for a response, ready to lend whatever aid is needed.

Meanwhile, he keeps his eyes peeled for a possible ambush.

Jaroo approaches the cart with a nod to the man. He peers in to see what exactly he is hauling before fanning out to the left flank to examine the terrain.

Alara stays back as the others head over and offer help. Remembering stories her Ranger mother told her, she keeps her eyes peeled for bandits or similar.

Samdarag
The man, who's nearly 200-feet in front of you, is too far to comfortably engage in conversation with, so the group, curious as to the situation, cautiously engages while being mindful of the surroundings and any potential ambush.

"Do you need some assistance?" Unna calls out once the group has reached a more comfortable speaking distance.

A middle-aged, dark-haired, portly, and very sweaty man turns and notices the group. "Ahh, yes, perfect." the man starts. "Name's Samdarag," he says, extended a calloused and wet hand to anyone who will accept it.

"I'm but a humble merchant with a delivery due in Red Larch, and lost control of me cart which seems to have gotten itself stuck," he says, pointing at the two-wheeled handcart he'd been pulling which now rests just off the side of the path, one of its wheels heavily twisted up in some weeds and bramble. Jaroo takes a quick look at the carts' contents and notices it is loosely filled with large burlap sacks, wooden boxes, and a few chests. No contents are really out in the open.

"If'n you can help get me righted," he says, "I could pay you with an opportunity." he says in a hopeful voice.

Delgrot eyes the wet hand offered "I'd shake yer hand but I'm thinkin' we'd be better suited to helpin' you get yer cart back on the road. Names Delgrot Blessedcloak at yer service." the dwarf says with a slight bow. Then sets to looking the cart over to see if they can just push it out with the number of them helping or if something needs to be done about the nature tangling the cart up. "What do you think Jaroo? We got to do anything about them?" he says pointing at the weeds and bramble.

Jaroo glances over. "Watch for thorns mainly." His attention turns back to admiring the beautiful morning.

[Zhym]

"Payment?" scoffs Roderick. "For helping a fellow traveler in need? I won't hear of it!"

He takes another quick look for any signs of an ambush, then approaches the cart. He hacks away the weeds and bramble from the wheel and gives the cart an experimental push or pull to see if it will roll. "Come, gents!" he exhorts his compatriots. "Lend a shoulder!"

Ardiam jumps into the effort to free the cart.

Nexus stops back behind the others aways. Well, WHAT a pickle! Oh I am SURE we can help you out here, can’t you boys! What are you carrying in those there bags and boxes by the way?Oo Is it food? Cake maybe? Hmmmm cake! Don’t you have any guards? That seems awfully remiss of you! Is the cake really bad?” the gnome asks eagerly, licking his lips and staying well out of the way of any actual manual labour.

”Yes Roderick, push! Come on men, put your backs into it. You missed some brambles there by the way!” he says .... helpfully.

He will keep his eyes peeled on the tree line whilst offering up .... encouragment

"Gents?", Alara gives Roderick a look before heading over and lending a hand with the wagon.

She seems stronger than her slight frame would indicate.

[Zhym]

Roderick hastily amends his call to action. "Er...and lady!"

That'll teach me not to check the roster.

Unna

Unna heads over and grabs hold of the front of the cart and starts pulling. "It shouldn't take long to get it free."

Ladies! Unna is of the feminine persuasion too under all that beard I believe.
