OOC

#1 Post by rredmond »

All your out of character banter goes here. I'm the worst at that so this thread will likely get long. :D
This is a game about killing things and taking their stuff so you can become more powerful in order to kill bigger things and take even better stuff.
Alethan: I'm good with NOT pressing our luck this time.
mjulius: That's how I know I'm home.
Pulpatoon: The whole point of PbP is to take the scheduling pressure off the game. We're just chatty because we're so eager!
Scott308: ...everyone should be reminded of just how wonderful the people they play games with here can be in real life.
Leitz: Quality and quantity wise, I think US is the best I've seen.
Paladin: I can promise terror, glory, and riches...or a quick and brutal death.
Inferno: Come on! That's was Vicar's Head, a completely different doomed village!
Rex: I can move to the wait list to let someone else into the game.

Nope, we'll run with them as is. So it kind of cuts character generation out, but it's something I wanted to try this time around. Hope that's alright with all.
When I get a chance I'll start posting the characters for everyone to see/use, etc.

Blodgett - hobbit 5th thief, +1 ring protection, boots of elvenkind
"Sir, our research shows that the bird is equal to or greater than the word."

Just setting up Character Sheets. All three new folks have chosen, so I'll update the Looking For thread and let the free-for-all begin. :)

Once I have the instructions on how, :) , I'll assign the character sheets to the players who chose them!

Fun fun.

OK. figured that out.

Probably tomorrow I might change them up a bit, I'm still working being more OSRIC compliant so everyone is playing from the same book. I will go with weapon specialization with the single classed fighters and ranger. I am a "player's DM" though death is quite real in my game, I'm more about having fun then "getting" ya. Creativity and care go a long way in my games, which will go well in this module. That said, NO double specialization :D . I may let the ranger specialize in the bow... not sure on that one.

That's all for now, gotta finish paperwork for my second job... be well everyone.

Let me tell you more about Ogre:

Likes: long walk on the beach, bubble baths, getting his hair done, magic swords

Dislikes: mean people, smelly food, beholders.

Look for his spread in D&D Hotties

I just wanted to say that I'm really looking forward to gaming with this group. I only discovered these forums five days ago (as of the time of this writing) and everyone has been extremely helpful.

It has been a long time since I've played, and this will be the first play-by-post game I've ever participated in, so I'm looking forward to having a good time!

Thank you to rredmond for organizing this game so quickly, and good luck to all!

No problem! There are one or two of you new to PbP ways. As long as you can deal with the pace, it's real fun. AD&D is AD&D, you roll dice (electronic dice, but dice ;) ) you kill things and take their stuff, and every so often you save versus death - just for kicks. Honestly, I think the slow pace lends to folks being able to have more fun with their character, and get to know each other better, both in and out of game. We should be able to have some fun here, it's something I've been wanting to try, and as Al said in the other thread, using Pre-Gens is going to be different!

Hey all. Check out Argennian's character sheet. If you want to go ahead and start filling out the sheet as per the OSRIC book, please go ahead. I love the movement rates of 12" (120') for everyone, I think that's why the equipment is so stripped down. I'll likely adjust that to something more reasonable, because the dwarf and halfling just can't go that fast :) plus we have many folks in armor, etc. But I'd like to keep the stripped down nature of the equipment. The magic items and spells we will go as per OSRIC as well, which is why they don't have descriptions yet. As for Character Descriptions, just pop it in the bottom of the character sheet, just remember that you have all adventured together for at least a couple of adventures, and you all trust each other. Just FYI Freda and Elwita were female characters, I don't care if you keep the gender or not, it is up to you. But that's why the funky armor that Elwita is wearing in the cover art of the module that I posted in the other thread - still a beard though you'll note!
.
Please let me know if there are any questions thus far. Hope to get moving a bit this week, but we'll see.
Thanks all!

A few quick questions:
1) Do our characters begin with any starting money for rations, light sources, hirelings, etc...?
2) Do we begin with the minimum experience points for our starting level (e.g. 35,000 for 6th level fighter)? If you get an experience point bonus, would that be added to the starting experience points (e.g. (35,000 * 1.10 = ) 38,500 for 6th level fighter)?

Thanks,
- Dave

I'm ready to go. I've updated my character sheet with racial adjustments, etc and have made macros for my character at the dice roller.
