Back Upon The Island
The Next Obelisk?
Early Morning

After the bizarre dealings with the mysterious yellow haired Giggyfez, the group decides to camp in this area for the night.

A spot is cleared out where a fire is started while watches are set. After a nice meal of whatever it is you eat out here, since there is nowhere to buy fresh rations in the jungle, you each turn in for a peaceful rest filled night. The bugs aren't nearly as bad as they were in the southern portions of the Island, and the lack of large animal threats leaves you all to a peaceful nights rest without interruptions.

The next morning rises without incident, allowing those who need to study and pray a lovely morning for such things. The party knows they need to head northwest to find the next obelisk, and likely even further to find this Library the strange man divulged earlier.

She begrudingly gets up and tries to work out all the sore spots from the night. "Help me remember. We need to go to the 'twelve' position, the Library, I guess? Because the obelisk at eleven won't work until we put the orbs in at the library. We bypassed the eight to go to the ten, because the others were going there?"

"Did I miss anything? And how are we supposed to find the others? If they're even still alive."

"That was a much-needed rest. Thanks to Ehlenestra that we got it.

As for your questions, Princess... I don’t really know if we’ll manage to find the others. This island is enormous, and I’m not sure we’ll ever return to the village—at least not before we’ve found all the obelisks.

I’m not sure which direction we need to take... So far, I’ve been following more than leading..."

The cleric finishes her meditation. Mentally, she feels better than she has in a long time, relieved that the multiple dragon encounters are over. She uses the down time to finally switch from the battered banded mail she's been wearing since she arrived at the island and equipped the newly acquired chainmail armor...although she still is unsure of it's magical property.

The fighter wakes from a deep slumber refreshed and ready to go

"A much needed rest and a good one at that."

The refreshed druidess looks around, "No clue Princess about finding the others. I suspect it will take care of itself. We should get going soon."

Holmfrid lets others answer the questions about maps and others that she has not met. She give her best in the watch and then getting ready in the morning.

Wes

Wes wakes from a strange dream, of an endless parade of animals marching towards him. Yet as each animal had reached him, it morphed into another form. Bears into fish. Alligators into eagles. Elephants into frogs.

"I thought those mangos tasted off", he says, shaking his head. Then he pauses and stretches out his arm. In a moment, his hand changes shape, becoming the paw of a tiger. Wes flexes, extending the claws.

"Shalm, you have given me the greatest of all gifts!" he cries out. "I shall use it well, and wisely".

Wes nods at the Princess's summation. "Yes, it should be off to the northeast. Which is..." He peers up at the sunlight filtering through the trees, then points. "...that way".

Northwest It Is
Late Morning

Princess asks her companions how they feel about finding the other group again but doesn't get much sympathy for them. It is apparent that most of the others think things will work out naturally. Either that or they may never see the others again at all.

Donning her newer, less damaged armor, Lerrick finds the chainmail suit to be of great quality. Fortunately, it offers her slightly better protection than the armor she discards. (+1 Chain)

After showing the others his new transformation tricks, and thanking the Shalm for this amazing gift, Wes agrees with Princess that they should head northwest to find their next objective.

Traveling for a few hours in that direction, the jungle slowly becomes less dense before actually clearing altogether in a few places. Up ahead, in the area where they think the next obelisk should be found, they find the jungle changes into an almost impassable rough rocky landscape that is completely void of any vegetation or life whatsoever. This area stands in sharp contrast to the lush greenery you can see all around the area.

In the distance, there appears to be a rocky caldera rising up from this rough terrain. It looks almost like a volcano rising from the dark rock, except for the 4 high pillars that grow out from its upper ledges. These pillars appear to be topped with silver statues that glow in the bright sunlight, but you are currently too far away to make out any real details yet.

There is no sound or scent coming from this area, and no movement whatsoever can be seen as you look over the area from a distance.

"I have a bad feeling about those statues. Probably the next guardian we have to face."

When Wes said northwest, he actually meant northeast

"Almost certainly", agrees Wes. After a moment he adds, "You know, we could avoid this place for now. It looks like hard going and it could be dangerous."

"As Tlatchga says, we probably have to go to the library first, before this Obelisk activates. Why risk our necks when we could circle around the place?"

"Off to midnight then?"

Elnaerel nods in agreement after looking at the statues for a few seconds.

The Princess

She squints at the silvery objects with Elnaerel for a moment. "I hear you Wes, and I think the obelisk isn't activated right now, or we'd see the light. I think."

"But maybe we check it out before it's activated for once, perhaps we'd have better luck with the inhabitants."

Late Morning

Wes suggests they simply bypass the distant crater completely, since they likely need to visit the 12:00 position building where they believe the obelisks will need to be activated.

Most of the group seems to agree that skirting around the area is a good idea for now, until Princess suggests they take a look at the distant statues anyway.

The fighter moves towards the front of the group in order to take head on any potential threats, but follows the those who seem know their way. For the fighter, every step taken is uncharted territory.

Does the sky look good for a call lightning spell?

Wes

"Perhaps I can take a closer look, Wes says softly. "Great Obad Hai! I wish to draw upon your gift. Beasts of air, land and water! Hunter or prey, bestow on me a new form today!"

There is a shimmering in the air around Wes, and the form of the druid is replaced by...a large raven. It beats it's wings and sails up into the sky, riding the updrafts to soar up above the pillars and the statues.

Holmfrid prefers to be in the front given her polearm weapon. She is just in awe of Wes's transformation.

Elnaerel is fine with her current position in the marching order.

She's about to suggest she can blend with her surroundings in order to scout ahead, until Wes changes into a raven. She's awestruck at what her eyes are seeing.

She nods at the transformation. "Welp. There he goes. I hope he comes back."

Turning to the land-based Druid: "Did you know he could do that?"
