Bishop steps onto the platform and flips the lever UP. A pale blue glow surrounds the platform; Bishop feels a small strange prickling on his skin and his hair seems to float around his head. The platform ascends first slowly then increasingly fast until it seems to move upward at a running pace.

A dark opening slides past at about a running pace.

Is there also a neutral position? Else he will place his trust into the device and wait until it grinds to a halt on its own. At least he hopes it will.

Tentatively, Bishop moves the stick to a horizontal posture. The platform immediately slows its ascent; Bishop feels momentarily lighter as it stops. Coincidentally it is only a foot below the threshold of another dark opening, about the same size as that through which Bishop got on the platform.

Now that he is starting to figure out how it works and coming to the realization how massive this mountain really is. Instead of going into the hole, he goes down again and tries to stop at the first hole closest to the first floor. Hoping he will be able to reunite with the others if he sticks to the lowest exit.

Bishop! Delx cries. Come back down and meet us at the bottom! Let's go up together!

Guessing I managed to get to that first floor and remained there?

Once Bishop hears Delx voice in the distance, he turns the lever in the down position.
