Can new users *get* PMs?

#1 Post by Leitz »

We should have a new inbound member enroute and I want to let them know to post in the introductions thread and get a second post in so they can send PMs, etc.

Pretty sure that's a negative. But posting twice real quick isn't against the rules, so you can get approved quicker :)
This is a game about killing things and taking their stuff so you can become more powerful in order to kill bigger things and take even better stuff.
Alethan: I'm good with NOT pressing our luck this time.
mjulius: That's how I know I'm home.
Pulpatoon: The whole point of PbP is to take the scheduling pressure off the game. We're just chatty because we're so eager!
Scott308: ...everyone should be reminded of just how wonderful the people they play games with here can be in real life.
Leitz: Quality and quantity wise, I think US is the best I've seen.
Paladin: I can promise terror, glory, and riches...or a quick and brutal death.
Inferno: Come on! That's was Vicar's Head, a completely different doomed village!
Rex: I can move to the wait list to let someone else into the game.

Hi!
Ron, have you and the mods thought of a "New to the Unseen Servant? Start Here!" sort of thread that is near the top of the main page?

It could explain the two post rule, which I see you having to explain a lot. Also, that they should introduce themselves, how to find a game, a link to the How to DM thread, forum etiquette, etc. Basically an FAQ for new folks. I think we have all that info (mostly in News and Announcements, Help and Support, Introductions and Welcomes, and Tips for the DM), just not centrally located in a spot quickly visible on the home page.

Just a thought.

Yeah, but I wonder if new users start at "News and Announcements"? :)

It seems like a good idea to at least make a link to it where everyone would like. Maybe under the banner, something like new people click here.
