Dutchie in dire need of an online escape

#1 Post by Manintights »

Greetings and salutations!

My name's Danny, I'm a 38 year old father of three from the Netherlands. I've been playing role playing games for more then 20 years now.
I was first introduced by a sports coach during a very rainy camping trip and I've never looked back since. I will forever be grateful to him for this.

I really started getting into both D&D and wargames and these are still my main games. However I've branched out over the years. I'm into Classic fantasy, superheroes, horror and pokémon.
The last 10 years I've been mostly gming for friends, my kids and others, but it's been years since I've actually played in a game. I have joined these boards in hopes of finding a game I can get lost in.
I've been feeling really stressed out for the last 9 months and I hope that PBP gaming will alleviate some of that stress.

I'm open for mostly anything, so feel free to reach out if you have an open spot that needs filling.

Welcome, MIT. There are a lot of great games being run here (with more starting all the time). I’m sure you’ll be able to find one to get immersed into without much difficulty.

Good luck!

Welcome!

I've been to Leiden several times over the years - enjoy visiting and having dinner and drinks on the canals :).

Leiden is a great city. I myself am from the south of the Netherlands, a lot less urban around here.

Welcome MIT! 'Tis a great place to be!
This is a game about killing things and taking their stuff so you can become more powerful in order to kill bigger things and take even better stuff.
Alethan: I'm good with NOT pressing our luck this time.
mjulius: That's how I know I'm home.
Pulpatoon: The whole point of PbP is to take the scheduling pressure off the game. We're just chatty because we're so eager!
Scott308: ...everyone should be reminded of just how wonderful the people they play games with here can be in real life.
Leitz: Quality and quantity wise, I think US is the best I've seen.
Paladin: I can promise terror, glory, and riches...or a quick and brutal death.
Inferno: Come on! That's was Vicar's Head, a completely different doomed village!
Rex: I can move to the wait list to let someone else into the game.

I have two games going that could use a new player.

First, my Ace in the Hole Shadowrun game is newly started (they've got the job, but really haven't done more than legwork at this point) has an abandoned character that could be picked up. viewforum.php?f=1587

Alternately, my Uneven Numbers In Nomine game is just barely getting started. It would be easy to work a fresh character into that one because most of the PCs have not even met yet. viewforum.php?f=1600

Both games have an Important Documents that contains the FAQ, posting guidelines, etc.

And you would not be my only player from the Netherlands in either game. @Juramenta and I have been playing together (on a Discord server) for a few years now.

Welcome!
On November 2nd I will be participating in another 24 hour game of Dungeons & Dragons as part of Extra Life. This organization uses gaming to help raise money to donate to children's hospitals. I'm raising money for Marshfield Children's Hospital in Marshfield, WI, and all money I raise will go to that hospital. All donations are tax-deductible. Please take a moment to check out my donation page below. Thank you.

Thanks all for the warm welcome.

I've gotten some opportunities to join in on games already, which is very encouraging.
