Sorry, I should have specified that in greater specificity. You'll need to get the gems appraised to know how much they're worth for certain, but there are four gems inside the bag. Probably worth at least 4 gp, and no more than 8 gp each (i.e. between 40 and 80 silver).

I don't know. Probably technical limitations. This site is being maintained by volunteers with a day job. I'm sure it's working on a shoestring budget.

I'm assuming you're using your claws? They'll do more damage, and you can't knock out a zombie.

Sorry, yes I meant full damage, not a knockout. I'll try to be clearer in the future.

Quick announcement: I'm going to be tweaking how I handle "shoving." I've been using a contested strength check to date. While that makes sense, and helps distinguish it from the Halberd's hook ability, it does lead to a bit of awkwardness: to do a contested strength check, I need to define a monster's strength, but monsters don't really have ability scores in DDX.

Right now, it's not a big deal, because you guys are contesting with human and human-sized enemies, so using a strength of 10 is fine. But as you go up against bigger and badder monsters, I'd need to start pulling strength scores out for them. Not only is that a bit of arbitrariness that I'm not a huge fan of, but those scores would be sort of phantom scores, since they wouldn't affect monster to-hit or damage. After all, if I declare a giant has a strength of 20, I don't want to suddenly give them a +5 to hit and damage. That would make them much more deadly than the game really balances for.

So I think from this point on, I'll just have the target of a shove make a saving throw vs paralysis. The Halberd still has it better because you do minimum damage in addition to the trip, and higher proficiencies impose a penalty on the saving throw. A straight shove would grant no such penalty.

By and large, "outside the box" actions will be resolved as a saving throw against the target. So mud slinging, tripping, shoving a bookcase on baddies will generally be resolved with saving throws.

Looks good to me.
Although may I suggest we make it easier and only use charisma for any test we do?
It would become the only one stat we need to worry about. Life would be so much better. The one stat to rule them all!

Yes. There isn't a distinct "charge" action (unless you're on a horse using a lance, or you're one of several types of monsters), but you can absolutely move towards a target and attack them.

No. Only things you can do during rounds is abandon (parts of) actions. So you can abandon an attack, or abandon the move part of an attack. But you can't change your action.

No problem, good to know.
I just need to remind myself focusing fire on one target before moving on to the next one isn't the best strategy in this game.

Not universally, no. But that's one thing I like about this style, and is part of why I'm being such a hardass about the combat actions. It introduces a very real (and in my opinion engaging) tension between focusing fire to maximize the chances of taking down a given opponent, and spreading your fire out to minimize wasted actions. It allows for some very solid and impactful decision making without having to introduce a lot of fancy powers and resources.

Thorncity, is it far from here? When was the last time you've met this old sage of yours, mister Silvercharm?
Quick note: Thorncity is the city where you guys started in, before trekking out to Tuskdale Hall. That is established in the first page of *The Stolid Soldier*, if you want to refresh your memory: viewtopic.php?p=707166#p707166
