'Tez' Tears in the Rain

A female Orc in her early 20's. As described in her background, she is a survivor of a terrorist attack upon the formerly interned metahuman goblinoids, being orphaned and subsequently raised by a compassionate religious brotherhood that her crib has floated towards.

Now she lives independently, eeking out a lowly citizens lifestyle (she has her legitimate SINner papers, gifted when she left the orphanage). Presently she has a 'day job', giving two mornings a week to managing a back street Launderette. It pays ¥1,000 nuyen monthly, enough to meet her basic needs. She lives in the rear bedsit annexe.

She is an awakened Adept, focusing her vocation on self improvement and awareness, often participating in hippy commune rituals such as yoga classes, firewalking barefoot on hot coals and of course, partying late into the night.

She is a proficient Bike rider and more often than not, runs around the city, scampering over walls and gables in freestyle parkour style which comes in useful with her covert Shadowrunning operations.

She harbours particular antipathy towards the notorious Hand of Five group.

Of special note, she excels as much in hobbies of break dancing, bell ringing and blowing things up as an urban guerilla with her Demolitions skills.

She has two personal contacts: Father Cagney, an elder Friar cum-schoolteacher, influential in her upbringing and Quazzy, a hunchbacked Troll bell ringer who lives on the Abbey rooftops with his favoured racing pigeon companions.

- Headstone -

The first light of dawn creeps through the broken blinds, casting a dull glow over the aftermath of the night before. The upper floor of the rundown flat is quiet now, unlike the wild energy that filled it just five hours ago. The place, his place, is a mess of empty synth-ale cans, discarded glow sticks still flickering faintly, and fresh graffiti covering every surface, even the floor.

In the corner, behind a rusty mesh fence, the band’s instruments sit abandoned. His drums, the centerpiece, are still damp with the sweat he worked up during the set. The amplifiers hum softly in the background, reluctant to let the night’s energy completely fade. The skate ramp nearby, covered in neon tags and scuff marks, stands silent after the wild stunts it witnessed.

He stands in the middle of it all, tall and broad-shouldered, his green skin marked with scars that tell their own stories. To most, he’s the kind of orc parents warn their kids about. But here, in this space he’s carved out for himself and his crew, he’s more than just a shadowrunner. He’s the host, the one who makes sure everyone is safe.
The buzz of the crowd, the pounding of his drums, and the thrum of the baseline still echo faintly in his ears. But now, as the night fades, a different feeling takes over. Responsibility. Moving quietly, his enhanced reflexes and honed senses make his footsteps nearly silent on the creaky floorboards. This is his home, and by extension, the home of his crew.

Amidst the wreckage, he spots two young women, passed out on a tattered couch. For a moment, he allows himself a small, almost imperceptible smile. They’re safe. They’re home. Just not the home they will spend more time in. They are not runners, just guests.
Without a word, he moves toward them. His massive hands, capable of crushing bones, now work with surprising gentleness. He slides his arms under them, lifting them up as if they weigh nothing. They stir, one mumbling something incoherent, the other groaning softly in protest.

C'mon, big guy, one mutters, barely opening her eyes. Five more minutes…

He snorts softly, tusks catching the dim light. Whoever allowed you to spend the night, you did not get approval from Lil Sis he calmly responds.
With effortless strength, he slings them over his shoulders, their protests going unheard. He’s not cruel, just practical. They need real rest, and the couch isn’t the place for it. He carries them across the room, stepping over the debris from the night’s chaos.

Who is Lil Sis? They said we could stay here one protest as he puts them down in the hallway.
If you don’t know her, you certainly don’t belong. You stayed the night, now it is morning. I appreciate your visit and I wish you well on anything you plan to do. As long as it isn’t here. he adds.

One of the girls objects and even slaps him in the face. An attack he saw coming but did not bother to dodge from.
This is rude, and you are just a playing up to your stereotype, you orc. Be better! she yells at him.
He nods at her as if agreeing, and then slams the door shut in front of her.
Not giving it any more thought he turns around. He stands still for a moment, scanning the wreckage with a critical eye.

He grabs a broom and starts to sweep up the mess. His movements are steady, efficient, honed by years of discipline as a physical adept. His enhanced speed makes the job go quickly, but he takes his time, making sure every piece of debris is cleared away. As he works, the familiar smell of paint drifts through the air, a mix of last night’s tags and the remnants of his earlier work.

He pauses, eyeing one of his latest pieces on the wall. The colors are vibrant, the lines sharp and precise. It’s more than just a piece of art. It is a statement. A claim on this territory, a reminder to anyone who enters that this is his space. His addiction to the smell, the process, the creation, it’s all tied up in this need to mark his world, to leave something behind that can’t be erased.
He starts picking up bottles and leftover left drugs by guests to make sure the room looks relatively clean again.
A clean room, creates a clean mind he thinks to himself as he looks around.

One of the private doors is slightly ajar, and he sees the one he calls Lil Sis sleeping on her bed.

The little Asian girl is as deadly as they come, but he will always see her as his own sister, despite being from a different species. Let alone be bound by blood. He looks at her while she sleeps, yet does it only for a mere few seconds.

Be better, she said. remembering the words of the girl he just threw out.
She has a point. You still have a life ahead of you. Make better choices than I did he thinks as if directly speaking to her.
He closes the door. While he might not care what she does and who she does it with. He will make sure her privacy will always be respected.

Satisfied with the cleanup, he takes one last look around the room. It’s still rough, still lived-in, but now it feels right. He knows the others will appreciate it when they wake up, though none of them will say anything. They don’t need to. This is just part of who he is.

With the sun now fully up, he heads to the rooftop, where the cool morning air is a welcome break from the stale heat inside. The city sprawls out below him, vast and indifferent, but here, in this place, he’s carved out something that’s his. Something worth protecting. He takes out one of his cans, not one of the regulars, but one of the two magically bound. He starts painting, yet he does it as a ritual. Not only that, but he made the ritual his own. He knows no respectable magical college will ever see its worth, but to him, it works and this is what he believes. Damn, the world is saying otherwise. He takes in a deep sniff of his most priced possession and starts working his art on top of the roof.

He knows it won’t last. It never does. His art is meant to be temporary. But for this moment, this breath of peace, it’s enough. And when the world comes calling again, as it always does, he’ll be ready. Ready to fight, to protect, to create. Whatever it takes to keep this place, these people, safe.

With a final sniff of one of his cans as it nears the end of its life, he kicks it over the edge and watches as it falls down to become part of the scenery below, where it can remain for many undisturbed years to come.
Time to get back to work.

---

- The holy can of reflexes -

The early morning sun barely peeks over the horizon as he climbs onto the rooftop.
The cool breeze ruffles his worn bandoliers, each adorned with cans of spray paint, all distinct in their own right. Among them, two cans stand out. One of them, his prized can for enhanced reflexes, is nearly empty. It’s time to create a new one.

He kneels down on the cracked concrete, a quiet focus settling over him. With a deep breath, he reaches into his bag and pulls out a fresh can.
Its plain silver exterior glinting faintly in the dawn light. The label is still intact, but that won’t be for long.
He carefully removes the label with steady hands, peeling it off slowly.

With the label discarded, he sets the can down beside him and reaches for his trusty black can. It’s almost out of paint, but it has just enough left for one last task. Standing, he shakes the black can vigorously, the familiar rattle calming his mind. He paces out a circle on the rooftop, visualizing the energy he’ll soon be channeling. Once the path is clear in his mind, he sprays the circle on the surrounding ground, careful to make it a perfect loop.

The smell of the paint hits him hard. An amazing rush that sharpens his senses.

He can almost feel his reflexes tingling, eager to be honed further. With the circle complete, he sits cross-legged in the middle, setting the fresh can in front of him. Closing his eyes, he breathes in the scent deeply, letting it wash over him, grounding him.

Reaching into his pocket, he pulls out a stack of small stencils he’s prepared. Each one is meticulously cut from paper, the letters sharp and clean. He places the first stencil down on the fresh black surface of the can, ensuring it’s perfectly aligned.
With his golden spray can in hand, he gives it a quick shake and then sprays over the stencil. The golden paint fills the gaps, creating the first symbol on the black surface. He moves with precision, peeling off the stencil to reveal the shimmering golden letter. One by one, he repeats the process, laying down each stencil, spraying, and then removing it, the golden script forming a pattern that’s uniquely his own.

As the last stencil is removed, the ritual nears its end. The golden letters glow faintly in the morning light, catching the first rays of the sun as it climbs higher in the sky. This is more than just a can of spray paint; it’s now a talisman, a focus for his power.
He holds it up to the light, watching as the golden letters shimmer against the black background. The ritual is complete. He rises from the circle, the scent of the paint still heavy in the surrounding air.

With a nod of satisfaction, he clips the can to his bandolier, feeling the familiar weight against his chest. His reflexes are enhanced once more, ready to be called upon in the heat of battle. The ritual is over, but its power lingers until the can runs out.

- The holy can of speed -

Later in the day, as the sun begins to set, he knows it’s time for the second ritual. The can for enhancing his speed is nearly spent as well, and it’s time to create a new one. He had enough rest from the ritual earlier in the morning that he feels focused for the next one. He climbs back up to the rooftop, the orange glow of the evening sky painting the world in warm hues.
As he reaches the top, he pulls out the plain, new can he prepared earlier. The label is already gone, leaving just the raw metal surface, ready to be worked on. He pulls out his gray can, the one he uses to create the base for this talisman. The can rattles as he shakes it, the sound echoing in the quiet of the evening. And what a beautiful, entrancing sound it is.
Standing in the middle of the rooftop, he begins his ritual by spraying a circle around himself, just like before. But this time, the circle is slightly different. He moves faster, his steps quicker, almost as if the ritual itself is already working on him. The gray paint hisses out, forming a perfect ring around him. The smell of it is sharp and intoxicating, filling his lungs and clearing his mind.

Once the circle is complete, he sits in the middle, the new can before him. His hands are steady as he picks up the gray paint, and he begins to cover the fresh can with even strokes. The gray paint symbolizes the in-between, the blurred line between movement and stillness, the state of being neither here nor there but everywhere at once.
With the base coat dry, he reaches into his bandolier and pulls out another set of stencils, these slightly different in shape and size. Each one is crafted with the same care, cut from thick paper that resists the spray, allowing him to create clean, sharp lines.
He places the first stencil on the gray surface, aligning it carefully. This time, he picks up the purple spray can, shakes it, and begins to fill in the open spaces of the stencil. The purple paint is rich, deep, symbolizing the swift shadows that blur the line between movement and stillness. Each spray feels like it pulls the speed from the surrounding air, trapping it in the can.

As he works through each stencil, the letters appear, one by one, sharp against the gray background. The process is rhythmic, almost meditative, with each spray a step closer to unlocking the power within the can. The surrounding city seems to blur slightly, as if responding to the energy he’s pouring into the ritual. Even if it only happens in his mind, to him, it is real.
When the last stencil is removed, he holds the can up to the fading light. The purple letters seem to pulse with energy, vibrant against the muted gray. This is more than just a can now; it’s speed in its purest form, ready to be unleashed.

Satisfied with his work, he clips the can to his bandolier, feeling the weight of it settle against his chest. The ritual is complete, and the talisman ready to be used. He stands, the circle of gray paint around him already beginning to fade into the rooftop as the evening deepens into night.
He looks out over the city, the lights beginning to twinkle in the distance, and takes a deep breath. The ritual has worked. He can feel it in his bones and in the way his body hums with potential energy. When the time comes, he’ll be ready faster than ever. Ready to face whatever the world throws at him.

With a final nod, he turns and heads back inside, the smell of paint still lingering in the surrounding air.

Description/Background:

Revs, human male, 19 years old, Caucasian, 5'7", slim build, bleached white hair. When he is not wearing his mechanics overalls he can been seen in sneakers or boots, jeans or shorts, a t-shirt and his synth-leather secure jacket. He maintains a small apartment (low lifestyle) just around the corner from the family business. Revs family emigrated from eastern Ukraine in the 1990's and set up an automotive shop in the area. Up until 10 years ago the family business was completely legit, then they had a bad patch and were forced to take on some shadow jobs, e.g. chop-shop, repaints, and 'custom' improvements. The business pays Mr Sikes protection money, and he is aware of their shadowy endeavours...in fact it was Sikes who suggested some shadow work to help them get over their bad patch and made the connections. (Was the 'bad patch' just bad luck or did Sikes help things along?). Revs has an older sister, Danielle 22, and a brother, Michael 24, both of whom work for the family business. Revs has a SIN.

It is 6 miles from the team HQ to Revs apartment near the family business.

Contacts:

Level 2: Emilio Martinez, Gang Member. Human male, Hispanic, 20 years old, tall, average build, long black hair, goatee. Emilio and Revs were best friends at school. When school finished Emilio joined the local gang (Macadam Reavers, "The Macs") and has done well in moving up the chain of command. They don't see each other as much as they used to, but are still good friends. Emilio has an apartment in the same building as Revs.

Level 1: Gabrielle Dixon, Lone Star Dispatcher. Human female, 25, African-American. Gabby went to school with Revs brother, Michael, and they dated for a while once they left school. The relationship ended badly, but Gabby still gets on with Revs and the rest of the family.

Level 1: "Beamer", fixer for black market vehicle parts. Human male in his 30's, white, short blond hair, average height and build, never smiles. Beamer is the fixer for the family business when they need to buy/sell something with no questions asked.

these days, ever since she left the gang, but he always had a soft spot for
her, so he hasn't completely written her off yet.

Neon - Her most recent cellmate, who got out of prison at about the same time.
Named for her flourescent green hair. She's taken up work as a bartender at a
local bar. The two only shared a cell for about three months, but
that was enough for them to exchange contact information as they headed back out
into the rough-and-tumble world.

## Friends in High Places Contact

Li Hao - Hao (Li is the family name) is Baby Blue's adoptive father. She never really
appreciated it (though it is slowly dawning on her now), but he seems to have very
extensive connections in the "proper" world. He used to work for Wuxing, though he's retired
now. She calls him Sir Stuck-Up, while he named her Dawn when he adopted her. The two care
for each other deeply, though their relationship is at a low point right now, in the wake of her
time in prison.

Quotes:
"The streets get ya, they keep ya."
"My code? Mind yo own damn business."
"They see ya? Run. They block ya? Shoot. They catch ya? Go for the eyes."

Baby Blue is a short, petite girl of Chinese descent (though her bright blue eyes suggest some European blood in there somewhere). She grew up on the streets, running with the Tuskers, a street gang of mostly orcs and trolls, before getting adopted by a volunteer at the local civic center named Li Hao.

In her days on the street she learned a very important lesson very quickly: the safest are the biggest. But if you can't be big, don't be noticed. Being small even by human standards, Baby Blue was far from safe indeed, so she learned not to be noticed. She learned to be quiet, careful, always watching every shadow for the slightest hint of danger. But even that wasn't enough. So she glommed onto the biggest, meanest folks she could find. She latched onto Deadbeat and the Tuskers. Deadbeat took a liking to her, in no small part because her slight, unthreatening frame, incredible memory and attention to detail proved to be a surprisingly useful asset to the large, loud troll. The Tuskers were big and mean, and other gangs had to fight dirty to stand a chance against them. Baby Blue helped Deadbeat find those dirty tricks.

This all changed in her preteens when she interacted with a volunteer at the local community center she sometimes hung out at, Hao Li. Despite his normal, unassuming, human frame, he carried himself in a way that suggested power. A confidence, and sense of security that even Deadbeat lacked. So, she spoke with him some more. The two formed a connection, the old man taking Baby Blue under his wing, and eventually adopting her. He even managed to work some connections and get her a SIN.

Their relationship proved contentious. Hao was used to being obeyed. Baby Blue was used to doing her own thing. There were rules to follow in proper society, rules that were utterly foreign to Baby Blue, rules she had to learn. Still, they cared for each other. Hao named Baby Blue "Dawn," while Baby Blue called him "Sir Stuck Up." She even went to a high quality high school, and things were looking up for the onetime street rat.

Until she met Adrian, a boy at her school. He took a liking to her, and made some moves on her. Something about him gave her the creeps, and she rejected him. So he ran her out of the school, and possibly even sicced some of Baby Blue's old enemies from her street rat days on her. So when an opportunity came for Baby Blue to get revenge, she took it. It was a setup of course, and she got arrested and thrown in jail, but not before she broke Adrian's jawbone and made him cry like an elf at a slag yard.

Now, her time is served, and she's back on the street. She could go home, probably, but she can't bring herself to. Hao tried to lift her up, he failed, and Baby Blue has no interest in dealing with that right now. She'll run a different path. A path of shadows.

Note on Baby Blue's adoptive father: Li Hao rose fairly high (upper middle perhaps, at least?) in the management in a Corp in Hong Kong. He traveled to Seattle a lot for his job, and built up a lot of connections here. He even did some Johnson work for his Corp, hiring Shadowrunners for covert operations in Seattle (maybe he still does?). He grew tired of the rat race, the backbiting, the paranoia, and retired to Seattle.

Lifestyle
High, shared with her roommates. Actual monthly rate TBD, but first month is paid for (is my understanding).
Skye occupies a loft at the top of the building the group occupies, giving her some privacy. There is a large skylight that can be opened during good weather, an appealing feature for a Raven shaman so she can set up her modest lodge.

Contacts
Marilyn Whitemoon: Talismonger and horticulturalist, proprietor of The Giving Tree
Marilyn Whitemoon is an older, somewhat gruff Salish elf who runs a talismonger shop/plant nursery in Tukwila called The Giving Tree. A shaman herself, her shop focuses exclusively on Native American shaman magic along with plants and herbs indigenous to the Northwest. Her shop is popular in the area even among non-shaman since it's one of the few local places where one can buy seed or sproutlings to grow fresh vegetables. And if she knows you and has a certain degree of trust, you can also buy 'herbs' from her (tobacco, cannabis, peyote and the like, no hard drugs). Marilyn is not only Skye's talismonger, she's who Skye buys her cannabis from. Skye has been Marilyn's customer for nearly a year now and they have a friendly relationship. They are both Salish shaman so have that in common to start with, and Marilyn likes Skye's spunk while Skye gives the older shaman a great deal of respect.

Kuro Izumi aka "Akaishi": Yakuza shatei and Skye's cousin
Kuro Izumi is Skye's cousin from her mother's side of the family. Although he's 3 years her senior, as children they were still fairly close. At least until it became clear to Skye's mother that Kuro's father intended for his son to follow in his footsteps. Despite working for Yamatetsu, a corporation notorious for its connections with the Yakuza, Kyoko never approved of her brother's profession so she cut off contact with him once and for all. It wasn't until years later that Skye was reacquainted with Kuro. By then he was a low level Yakuza shatei going by the street name "Akaishi", the Red Stone, earned from a lucrative jewelry heist. It was from Kuro's example that Skye decided to try being a thief, and later shadowrunner, herself. She wants little to do with the Yakuza itself though, and like her mother she doesn't much approve of Kuro's association with them. Conversely, Kuro thinks running the shadows is too dangerous for some like Skye and she should just make up with her mother. But neither one pushes the other on their respective opinions, so they remain on relatively good terms. After all, they are still family even if they aren't especially close. Kuro is somewhat hardened from life in the Yakuza, but isn't callous (at least not yet). Skye still calls Kuro by his given name, and Kuro still calls Skye 'Hana'.

Bill Sikes: Local Crime Boss
Sikes more or less runs most of the seedy operations in the Tukwila area. He is primarily a loan shark, but he also runs the local protection racket. Sikes also charges the local street kids, joy girls, and boy toys a registration fee to do any business in his domain. Sikes himself is a swarthy Caucasian human who more or less epitomizes the image of white trash. He has beady dark eyes and dirty blond hair which he generally wears in a short ponytail. He nearly always wears faded denim jeans. His bodyware ranges from various colored wife-beater shirts in the summer, flannel vests made from cut-off flannel shirts in the fall, and long-sleeved plaid flannel in the winter. Sikes is short of stature and of patience, often resorting to violent means of resolution. When such measures are called for, Sikes usually sends 14 Week Freddy, his preferred leg breaker, out to handle matters for him.
Falstaff: Reclusive low-end fixer
Falstaff is basically a reliable, if not truly "trustworthy", fixer. He stays bought and offers fair goods at only slightly outrageous prices; he fences hot goods without pointing any fingers. Falstaff is also extremely paranoid. He rarely meets with anyone face to face, preferring to conduct business over the phone (with the vid off) or through intermediaries. Therefore, almost no one – the PCs are no exception – knows what Falstaff looks like.

Background
<Synopsis, will add more detail bit by bit.>
Skye is the result of a fling between a rather charming Salish shaman father and a driven Japanese mother working for Yamatetsu. She very much takes after her father and spent as much time with him as possible, but she was mostly raised in daycare and later as a latchkey kid by her largely absent mother in Bellevue. She inherited her father's knack for magic and from his tutelage she is a full-fledged shaman. At 18 she had a bitter split with her mother when her father died: while he died of cancer, she blamed her mother for not paying for his health care. She left with as much as she could carry with her and as much nuyen as she could get away with, using that to start a new life in Tukwila. She has a 'respectable' job providing magical lightshows for various bands for the last year or so, but she has also been using her talents to steal whatever she can from the corps she hates.

As the daughter of a Yamatutsu executive (low level, more of a middle manager), Skye does have a SIN registered for her birth name - Hana Blackfeather. She hasn't been able to afford a good fake SIN yet. Lucky for her, few people would make the connection between her surname (from her father), Blackfeather, and her mother's, Izumi.

Back Story

Growing up, Bone Biter lived in a nice middle-income condo and was able to put away a bit of credit. He bought a Remington 950 and his cyberware before his parents kicked him out of the home. He now lives in a low-income single-room flat with a kitchenette and a half bath. The entire place is a 20’X20” space. He aspires to join the military to become a long-range sniper, but the events of his life have not turned in his favor. Now, he works odd jobs to make money.

He believes in protecting the weaker and those who need help when possible. In the shadows, he is still wet behind the ears and working on believing in himself.

Trust is hard to come by, but once someone has earned his trust.

David “PacMan” Packard

There used to be movies and stories about good cops who saved the day and helped their communities. Growing up, little David liked those old 2d movies and wanted to be the person to save the day. The one to make things safe. Having graduated from HS, a perk of having a SIN and a dad who worked for the city, David joined the LoneStar Law Enforcement Academy ready to learn how to go out and be one of the good guys. Later and with most every optimistic notion of “good guys”, “law and order”, “protect”, or “serving” having been betrayed by LoneStar and the officers he worked with, enough was enough. Badge and gear turned in, Packard tried to make a living as a private detective right down to the last cred. PacMan moved in with some folks met through playing bass at open mic nights and adopted the life as an itinerant musician. But money is always tight and the shadows pay if you have skills…

PacMan is almost annoyingly likable, some of that idealistic kid still shines through maybe. He has a knack for first aid and for spotting odd details. Although comfortable and at home on the streets and on stage, there is something in how he carries himself that just says cop.

El Cid the Troll Street Sam. If you see any inconsistencies, this character was originally created 25 years ago in SR 2. I have adjusted it to bring it up to 3.0 rules as best I could.
----

Game: AIH
Player: Tay-Dor

Character Street Name: El Cid
Character Name: Julio Ortega Raul San Marco Philipe Montalban
Metatype: Troll (Thermographic Vision, +1 Reach for Armed/Unarmed, Dermal Armor +1 Body)
Race: Hispanic
Age: 19 Ht: 3.3meters Wt: 280kg Hair: Brown Eyes: Brown
SIN: No Legal SIN
Fake SIN: Julio Raul Ortega. Stick Rating 6, Datawork rating 4

Edges/Flaws
- Toughness (3 pts) [+1 Body for Damage Resistance tests only]
- Aptitude - Biotech (4 pts) [-1 to Biotech TNs]
- Bonus Point - Strength (2 pt) [+1 Strength]
- Pacifist (-2 pts) [A Pacifist character is unusually principled for the Sixth World. He cannot take the life of another person except in self-defense, and even then he kills as humanely as possible. Such characters cannot participate in premeditated murders or assassinations and are compelled to dissuade their fellow Shadowrunners from killing unnecessarily.]
- Vindictive (-2 pts) [Vindictive characters are especially vengeful and go out of their way to correct any slight against them, no matter how small. The retribution varies according to the slight. A simple insult might call for a coldly delivered threat or punch to the face, while an injury almost always calls for death or maiming of the offending individual. Vindictive characters carry grudges until they avenge the perceived wrong they have suffered. They can be loyal and capable comrades, but cross them once abd you are on their hit list forever.
- Compulsion (1 pt) - Jalepeños (1pt) [Compulsive characters possess some compulsive behavior over which they have little or no control. The value of this flaw depends on how dangerous and troublesome the behavior is for the character,
- El Cid compulsively eats Jalepeños from time to time.
- Addiction to Alcohol (4 pts) - A holdover from his days running with the Dirty Dozen. He can’t go more than 48 hours without drinking mass quantities of alcohol, enough to get a good buzz on. Otherwise he suffers mild withdrawal symptoms.
