Flighty would think this would be a good investment for all of the crew. Does he know she is doing this?Eris wrote: ↑Tue Sep 17, 2024 10:10 pm OOC: These names okay with everybody?
OOC: How about Coromandel for the name flagged out of Arden?
- Skidbladnir flagged out of Sacnoth/Sword Worlds;
- ???Name??? flagged out of Arden/Federation of Arden;
- Gremlin's Castle flagged out of Aramis/Third Imperium;
- The New Chance flagged out of Glisten/Third Imperium.
IG: Sigrun has a chat with Dotty Klingmaster who is preparing papers and transponder codes for your ship.
Dotty nods, "So, you've lost your ID, eh? It happens now and then. I can make you one that will pass any inspection anywhere, but it'll cost you Cr1,000. If that's too rich, I can make you one that'll pass cursory checks for 300. I'd spring for the good one, if it was my neck on the line, but that's your choice."
"I'll need the name and personal details and the photo you want on the ID, plus we'll have to do a fingerprint, retinal scan and a DNA sample to encode into the ID." she says, "Different systems do different tests depending upon their tech levels. Some low level ones only check the photo, but as you go up they'll be adding the others and in some cases, doing multiple tests."
"Glisten even adds ear shape scans to ID checks on humans, vargr, and aslan as those species each have unique ear shapes for each individual." she adds with a chuckle, "Personally, I think they do that to make folks take off their vacc suit helmets during the tests."

One from Arden, one from the Imperium out of some system and one from the Sword Worlds (I think Tiglith's suggestion is fine there). So really, just two names, one from Arden and one from the Imperium.
The names suggested so far for the Imperial and Arden names are: Dealer's Choice, Gremlin's Castle and Coromandel.

Sigrún (still apparently off her meds/missing Zaki time) growls "Já, ég tróð því upp í rassinn á keisaraflotanum!"Eris wrote: ↑Tue Sep 17, 2024 10:10 pm Dotty nods, "So, you've lost your ID, eh? She seems to focus back with "I want your best work. Take whatever identifiers you need here. I'll wait while you work and watch you delete them. I need Imperial Citizen ID for Signe Valdis. Born Margesi". She spits and exclaims "Skítugir skíthælar!" before continuing more levelly "Margesi was a contested world. A lot of records were destroyed - either by the fighting or later by the resistance".
"I also need Flight Officer papers for Merchant Trading. Show me qualified on 200t and 400t traders and a Purser's Qualification in Passenger Care. Majority of time served with Monoc Securities owned lines".
She grunts at Dotty's last then comments "Glisten has too much Tech - like the Darrians and those "elves" are all known to be perverts!"

Flighty will pay up in full. "Jamie Quinn. Flight Officer qualified in small jump ships. I'm from Sorel in the Spinward Marches near Glisten. (OOC: I'm possibly being over scrupulous here as I'm not sure a "wink" emoji covered it. So here's a nudge. Flighty has much Int and real time post timing is not strictly always "chronological" in game. In this case it was. Sigrún was already setting herself up a new ID when Flighty quite properly and reasonably presents the argument that the original crew would need new ID as folk are after them and also after the ship).Tiglath wrote: ↑Wed Sep 18, 2024 12:33 amSigrún looks up from the detail of her conversation with Dotty and quickly adds "What? On the other hand, I will make sure to bookmark this to toss back at you the next time Sigrun jumps into a scene.

And before you ask, it did happen once (according to my potentially faulty recollection, though I recall thinking about mentioning it at the time). Wasn't a big deal so I didn't. Now, though, the marker has been laid down.

I was trying to make sure I'd made the point that despite Sigrún likely being in the clear as far as the New Chance goes (or maybe only "guilty by association") she is not only keen to change/disguise her identity but also appears to be reasonably proficient in knowing how to do so.
However, she doesn't need to change ID as the folk chasing you (for stealing the New Chance) and also chasing the ship itself won't be chasing her or have put out alerts on her ID. They likely don't even know she's aboard (having been locked in a low berth as "freight") unless your original brief mentioned her?
Therefore if she's keen to switch her ID she must have a different reason to do so than the original New Chance crew.
Hope this helps and apology for any confusion/misunderstanding caused.

Yes.
There's an argument (which I blundered my way through presenting above) that newer crew members don't need it but that all depends on who we are running from. It probably makes sense to change everyone's ID all at once.
As Acting/Pretend Captain Sigrún seems keen on that idea.
I'm also good with the ship names.

With all business completed and the ship ready to go, Flighty requests an designated lane away from Jackson Hole. Receiving it, the ship moves away from the asteroid base and moves out and away from it.
You are sent on your way with a cheery short range radio message, "Hope your visit was enjoyable, come again..." followed by a narrowbeam transmission with a sequence of letters and numbers designating your ship's temporary code and the location of the repeater you can bounce your comm off of the send messages back to Jackson Hole.
As before the comm traffic is quite muted out here with almost all communications taking place by narrowbeam maser/laser rather than radio broadcasts. There are a few boats in the vicinity of Jackson Hole, none will come near you on the path out and a pair of small, 200 dton, ships inbound, but they are far out and you'll be at your jump point before they get with a million kicks of you. You note that none of the boats nor the ships are broadcasting transponder codes. Then you pick up three that are, but they are far inward near the inner gas giant where Corporate and Imperium Rules seem to apply.
OOC: Are you going to transmit a transponder code and if so for which code are you broadcasting?
Is there anything else you're going to do before you jump?
