Assignment One: Bug Hunt

Spot Check 0%? [1d100] = 31 (not sure how to judge the success of a skill with 0% proficiency.... or how to add 1/2 % to that. )

Malfiac nods his head in agreement as he too finds this situation a bit strange, going almost too easily for them. "Perhaps it just wanted to pass through?" Malfiac says in a whisper. The human scrapper will follow Varrick's example. If the trap finder deems the situation dangerous and attacks the creature, Malfiac will do so as well, not wanting to make any hasty decisions about a creature he has never seen or handled before.

As Thorgrim sees the hulking salads predicament he takes advantage and leaping over the fire, drives his axe deep into the creatures exposed back.
It rolls over, what should be its face is smoldering but too wet to ignite. It kicks at the net, trying to escape the hold.
Salad Escape roll [1d100] = 1 and manages to free itself of the net.

Following is the free +1/2% round. Since Mal and Varr didn't attack it last round they need to make another Spot check. Malfiacs spot check is 1/2 of POW so 5%. No bonus on the spot checks though as they are not used on the swamp beast.

Hearing Varrick's comment, Rafo rolls his eyes in disgust."Varrick! This ones for you!" With both hands securing the javelin, Rafo rushes in to attack the salad monster. "Thorgrim, hold on man! Here I come!"

"And THIS is how we make friends!" Malfiac states out loud with heavy sarcasm. He just shakes his head afterwards.... "Could have been friendly too for all we knew." He then looks to Varrick, to see if the man knows what exactly we are dealing with, why it is such a push over, and if it was even hostile in the first place. If a blank stare answers Malfiac's inquisitive look, then Malfiac will know his answer!

Caltus stands, mouth agape, at the apparent barbarity of the scene. He backs away from the fire as the Salad Stalker is set upon.

No act for this round. A slimey fish monster armed with a spear evidently gets him in gear, quick. A stumbling compost pile gives him pause.

As the charming rogue, the Scrapper, and the mage look on, the dwarves continue tossing salad there's a Valentine's image for ya!
Thorgrim drives a deep gash across it's chest as Rafo drives his spear into where it's head should be.

you both scores a special success because it couldn't block or parry. This does double weapon damage+Damage bonus. Rock on!

As Rafo drives his javelin in he feels in clink against something hard.

The beast, its face still smoldering is on its feet.
Varr and Mal can make yet another spot attempt.

Malfiac cannot help but watch the gory scene as he tries to lay low on the ground, crouching with dagger still at the ready. He whispers to Varrick, who is still beside him, "I don't think they needed our help, even the mage over there, Caltus doesn't want to get in the way! I.... almost feel sorry for the plant monster, or whatever it is."

"Argh, we be gettin' the best of him!" Thorgrim yells.

"Varrick, ye incompetent elf-kissing smudge-rubber, get in here and give us a hand!" he roars.

Thorgrim will try to use his Command skill (30%) - Skill Roll: [1d100] = 60 Uh, I guess not.

"What does it take to kill this thing?" he mutters as he strikes again.

Axe Attack Roll (73%): [1d100] = 93 I guess you have to miss once in a while. Must have been too busy cussin out Varrick.
Dodge (65%): [1d100] = 10 At least he's still able to dodge.

"Skewer that walking pile of refuse again, Rafo" Thorgrim hisses. "It looks like we're gonna have to take care of this one ourselves."

Yelling an ancient dwarven war call, Rafo strikes out at the beast. Aiming for the hard object in it's middle. "Thorgrim, there is something hard within the middle of the beast. Maybe that is where it's brains rest."

Thorgrim makes a mighty swing and comes up short, as the beast lunges toward Rafo, apparently intending to hug him, but the dwarf rolls out of the way as its smoldering head comes close he skewers it again! It doesnt even try to dodge or block.

Salad Lunge [1d100] = 87 miss

Varrick and Mal can make an other spot check if they do nothing else this round.

Spot Check 5% [1d100] = 98 Okay... with the rolls that I've been having lately, I don't think there is a chance in hell that I will roll under or at 5%.

Malfiac stands by, still not feeling that it is appropriate to gang pile something that just stumbled into camp. "It never did attack us, we attacked it... now its retaliating out of self-defense. This is making me uneasy... what if it was friendly all along?" "Uhh, gentlemen, do we really need to kill everything that stumbles into camp? Perhaps we should... just.... tie it down and see if it speaks or understand common?" Malfiac then gets the feeling that he is speaking in a completely foreign language as everyone kind of looks at him funny, or ignores him for that matter.

Varrick stays where he is, watching the two dwarves gang up on the creature, his daggers in his hands. He turns to Malfiac, "I ain't neva seen a' creature like dis one but a' kno' a threat when a' see one eh? Dis thang just crossin paths wit us, ain't no threat. Sides, ya small frends got it covered yeh? a'll be bowin out dis one fer now."

As Varrick and Mal look on, something very close to the north, mumbles jibberish and hisses in pain.
In the gloomy night you can barely make out a shape hiding in the tall grass not 20' away!
someone rolled a critical fumble on hide, probably ony way you'd have spotted it !
