003 Regina/Regina 1910 A788899-C [068/1085]
The crew rushes to their stations, leaving Karcsi, once stuffed into his vacc suit, it sleep off his adventure. Soon the ship pops out of Jump Space into the Regina system.
Donovan and Flighty both double, then triple checking, the location and timestamp data sent by the local beacons confirming you are in the Regina system and that the date really is 068/1085...that was a 70 hour jump with a perfect transition back into Normal space. The ship is precisely 868,000 miles out from Assiniboia, the large gas giant the moon called Regina Prime orbits...that's within 0.01% of the 100 jump limit! Flighty's 'flight plan' put the distance at transition much closer, but you are still arriving four days earlier than you expected. At this distance you have roughly an 9 hour long haul to Regina Prime at 1 g...only 4.6 if you planned to accelerate all the way and crash, but you don't plan to do that!
You are receiving radio transmissions from the moon, a dozen or more ships flying in the system, and an automated beacon asking you to turn your transponder on and contact Starport Control on the Ka band, specifically 28.4 Ghz, for intentions and instructions.
Your passive sensors pick up a number of commercial ships and boats plying the space around Lusor (the main star of this Trinary-Star System) moving among it's four habitable planets/moons. You readily pick up several System Defense Boats and Imperial Naval vessels in orbit around both Assiniboia and Regina Prime, and others further out patrolling. There are probably even more out and about that are running silently, as well.
Considering that you needed to get your "sleepers" to Regina by 075, you will certainly be getting the bonus for delivering them on 065 or 066, depending upon when you can wake them up and get them off your ship.
Doug, running diagnostics down in Engineering, finds that you have a damaged Jump Bubble Injector on your starboard bow that is going to need replacing. It probably came about because of your slightly early jump from Jenghe. Replacing the Injector will costs a pretty penny, but is an easy repair. There is an amber alert on two Grav Modules, they are running 12% below spec and will need recalibration and maybe even some part replacements, but those should be cheap repairs you can do as the ship goes along. Other than that the ship appears to have come through a most extraordinary Jump in excellent shape.

Flighty will turn the transponder to read Gremlin's Castle. Better any persuers never link them to their prey. He’ll report to Starport Control on the requested frequency.
“Starport Control, this is Gremlin’s Castle. We’re coming in to deliver passengers and cargo. Request a flight plan and berthing space.”

The low berths are running smoothly and their sensors show those in them are in a normal state. There is a low chance of failure, every time, when you bring them out of low, but it's a very low chance and Zaki is confident in both her skills and the condition of the equipment she will be using to make any failure next to impossible.joertexas wrote: ↑Thu Jun 12, 2025 2:35 pmZaki checks on her low berth passengers.Eris wrote: ↑Thu Jun 12, 2025 4:17 am

"Let's see, um....200 ton, hum..." there is a short pause, then "Ok, that'll work. We'll assign you a berth in Bay 109 B Regina Up, repeat Bay 109 B Regina Up. Um, please note that you'll be sharing 109 with two other ships today and you'll have to dock between them in the dorsal position."
Adding in a slight apologetic tone, "We're undergoing a maintenance shutdown at Regina Down today and all traffic has been detoured to the Up Station making us a little more crowded than usual. You can either transship your passengers and cargo down from there, or wait until tomorrow when Down reopens and relocate there."
Over to Gremlin's Castle."

Doug, fully aware, that this ship has several transponders and sets of papers...and why. Has been making badges in the 3d printer to attach to the crew's ship uniforms. One set of badges for each of the ship's identities each with a slot where the comm button can be inserted when that particular badge is used. Until now the Gremlin's Castle identity hasn't been used and he is going to have to get those badges out of the safe and distribute them to the crew before you get your mandatory visit from the Port Authority.
It occurs to Zaki that if the ship is now running under the Gremlin's Castle identity, it's going to be something of a shock for the passengers that went to sleep aboard a ship with a different name and with crew wearing different badges on their uniforms. She's not really sure how that can be explained, and if any of the passengers mention the change in ship name later on that could, no would, put you in trouble with the authorities.
Donovan hears what Flighty is saying and notes the change in identity for the ship. The contracts for the freight you're delivering don't have the ship's name on them, he doesn't think, but he better check that. If they do that could cause problems with Customs...and with getting paid!

Zaki pings Flighty. "If possible, we may want to hold off on reviving our passengers until we are nearly ready to leave. They might mention our name change."Eris wrote: ↑Thu Jun 12, 2025 7:03 pmIt occurs to Zaki that if the ship is now running under the Gremlin's Castle identity, it's going to be something of a shock for the passengers that went to sleep aboard a ship with a different name and with crew wearing different badges on their uniforms. As Doug pulls the identities out of the safe, he checks to see how many others have not been used. We are going to need at least one more fresh one for after the next jump. He then updates Flighty on how many unused id's they have.

Donovan does indeed look at the freight payment paperwork to make sure that they will get paid. Assuming that all is good he will make the calls to arrange pickup.
"Flighty the 10 ton freight lot will require delivery to the down port. It will probably be easier to contract a delivery service as the other lot is bound for the up port. Also we need to decide on fake and real destinations so we can start gossiping things up. It will also determine how much of the hold to set aside for fuel."

"Do that. We're four parsecs from Wochiers, we have tankage for two J1 and a collapsable fuel tank that can handle 1 J1. If we sell what we can, we can get more collapsable fuel tankage and get to our destination without dropping into another occupied system where we could be intercepted. You're the cargo master. What do you think?"helvorn wrote: ↑Fri Jun 13, 2025 5:43 am Donovan does indeed look at the freight payment paperwork to make sure that they will get paid. Once they are on course, Flighty will review the sensor and video records, both internal and external. He knows that he thinks he saw, but he wants to see it again, at least the parts he can.
