Return To The Ruins (Warlords Palace)
Re: Return To The Ruins (Warlords Palace)
Drest
"I don't like this."
Drest examines the door very carefully. Using his dagger point to run the door seam all the way around. Any evidence of a trap, tripwire, etc. Does it seem to have a locking mechanism of any sort?

Kainaxarthos
"I'm all turned around. Where do you think this goes? That large foyer with the statues?"
Kain watches the scoundrel do his thing and eventually offers to use the cloak of shadows to mist up and ooze through the cracks. "If you find a crack, I may be able to fit through."

Sik stands by, ready to make a run for it after the door is opened.

Under The Zakath Desert
The Trek Below
Still No Idea On Time Or Day
Drest manipulates the strange door, finding that it seems to rotate from its center pivot point, making it turn in a complete circle, like a revolving door entrance.
When he gently pushes the door open, he spots the same room they saw earlier with the copper topped tables and the 7 foot monster standing in the center of it.
Actions?
Drest (Sc4) FA:3 AC7 16/22 Magic Sword
Xenos (DS3) FA:3 AC5 15/17 CT, FOB
Akhilleus (F4) FA:4 AC4 29/35

When he gently pushes the door open, he spots the same room they saw earlier with the copper topped tables and the 7 foot monster standing in the center of it.
Seeing the door open, the monster's massive head turns in the direction of the curious Drest, who promptly closes the door again to tell the others what he saw inside the room.8 copper-topped tables are spread throughout the room, the tops also showing signs of heavy verdigris patina. Four rotting wooden chairs are set about each table, and a second much smaller wooden door can be seen on the south wall.
The thing that really gets your attention is the 7 foot humanoid figure standing in the center of the room. This thing is human in shape only, appearing to be made up of several different body parts that were severed at one point before being sewn back together. The horrible monster doesn't charge at the group however, instead pointing back over their heads at the hallway behind them, moaning to itself in unintelligible grunts.

"I say we make a run for it. That thing didn't try to pursue us last time, and I think we can outrun it if it tries. Hopefully the Snakemen are busy following us the other way around," Sik says.

Kainaxarthos
"Are we heading topside? Or exploring more?" Kain looks at the group.
"We also have the problem of the lake beast and no raft."
Did we actually search for secret doors along the way? Or did Kain just suggest it and no actions were taken?

Drest
"You saw that thing before? A warning next time would be appreciated. Looks like we may have to try to out run it or head back around and deal with the snake men."
I don't think Drest was with you when you saw him last time.

Sik shrugs. "We aren't all preternaturally gifted in underworld navigation, Drest, I didn't realize we'd come full circle to this room again."

Akhilleus
"I think making a run for it is our best option. We'll go through the corridor anyway, which is what the creature wanted from us."
To Kain.
"I don't want to explore anymore, right now. We wanted to go back to town... A long time ago. But you're right. Having no raft is a problem. We'll think of something."

Magda
"Thankfully that stitched man is no foe, not yet at least. I am ready to dash for the other door, as long as one of you brings up the rear." She looks pointedly at the other sorcerers.
"I was thinking this passage would connect to another room you didn't see Drest − one we think might hold a trap," Magda adds in the party's defense.

Under The Zakath Desert
The Trek Out?
Still No Idea On Time Or Day
Hoping to avoid a fight with this patchwork monster, the group rush through the door before heading through the next, returning back into the massive round room with the cyclopean statue at its center. This place, along with all the others, are still bathed in darkness, with no light sources to be seen besides your own.
No enemy is found within this room or in the hallway to the next, and the monster from the last room does not exit to pursue the group.
Kain mentions they still have no means to leave the island, but the groups leader assures him they will............think of something.

Re: Return To The Ruins (Warlords Palace)
"The best thing I can think of is still the beds... But we would have to go back to where we saw the Snakemen last," Sik suggests, pointing towards the room on the right where Xenos had laid his field of bones.

Drest
"We could go back and deal with the snake men once and for all."
Drest checks the pommel stone to see if it is glowing.

Akhilleus "Exactly. That's what I was thinking too. If they're still in one of the rooms, we'll fall upon them from behind.
If not, we can make a raft from the beds while two of us watch both the front and rear corridors."

He looks back at the hallway to the flesh golem and grunts. "Huh. I thought for sure that someone would trip or something. Good work, everyone!"
"I'm on board with flanking the enemy. And getting those beds."

"Both good ideas, Akhilleus. Let's see if there is an opportunity to finish the snake men before we leave this place."

Moving around this dark, circular room with the massive statue, a few things are noticed.
Both side doors are closed tightly now, unlike when you left the room earlier, when only the eastern door was closed.
The obvious earthy smell of Snakemen you picked up earlier is still quite prevalent in this room.
When Drest checks his magic sword pommel gem, it still glows softly, indicating the distant presence of possible threats nearby.
No sound comes from beyond either of the closed doors.
Otherwise, the room looks much like it did when you were here earlier.
