I like DnD 👍 I play an Advanced dnd 2,5 15 yers ago with friends, play dnd-based computer games (BG, NwN), play 3,5ed in forum (5th ed is better for me), and now GM and play 5ed. Dont like Pathfinder but Starfinder i like. I think that it is cool thad narrative tabletop roleplay games is popularised and grows up, that roleplay community became bigger everu next year. This is the main influence that produce dnd, and it is good, as I think.

I obviously still own all my digital purchases (D&D Beyond, VTTs, and any PDFs) but I finally broke down and listed all my 5e physical products for sale -- and sold everything as a lot to a buyer in Lake Geneva, Wisconsin this past weekend.

Not sure why I'm posting this.

It was far less than what I actually spent on it initially, but I recovered $450 for everything.

It was like 20 hardcovers, a handful of softcovers, plus a bunch of tabletop tools for in-person gaming (e.g. maps and pawns).

Considering I still own a digital copy of almost all the books sold, and I don't really game in person anymore, I was actually thrilled to be able to offload everything all at once instead of having to sell them off one at a time, which is how I was listing them.

I'm thinking of doing the same with my 5E materials, especially after my Baldur's Gate game comes to an end. I don't have nearly that amount of gear though, but I do have a lot of the alternate covers, so that should get me a few extra dollas ;)

[casts Animate Dead on this thread]

So, 2024's D&D Beyond has been out for a few months now.

I haven't tried it. But then, AD&D 1e with some houserules still works like a charm for me so I haven't bought a new DMG in 45 years or so.

I think it's safe to define a new edition of D&D as having a new PHB and DMG. So this would be 6th edition, or maybe 5.5e? *

From what I can see from a distance, 6e looks similar to 5e, like how AD&D 2e was similar to AD&D 1e. 5e and 1e were both popular and saw a large expansion of consumers. So maybe WotC/Hasbro didn't want to mess with success, but still wanted the revenue surge that new core books can provide?

Has anyone tried 2024 Beyond?

*(1e, 2e, 3e, 3.5e, 4e and 5e don't seem to acknowledge Basic in their numeration, even after they dropped the word "Advanced")

I was interested in the Greyhawk coverage, and am always kind of interested in rules written for the DM, so I pre-ordered the digital copy of the DMG.

I haven't looked at it yet (and I'm not really in a rush to do so). It will likely require an "I'm bored" kind of mood for me to invest the time into it since I abandoned 5e as an edition I'm interested in quite a while ago.

At the risk of sounding an old grognard unfavoured by the demi-gods of Wotc, the new D&D DMG in my humble opinion very poor.

The artwork is horrendous. Will be interesting to see what new modules they release or any new world setting as I don't imagine many will relate this to Greyhawk or FR settings.

Well they've moved away from editions, but I think this is considered, pretty much, 5.5e. Trying to push the game more online (even for the inperson folks!)
Pretty sure I've played it, as my oldest keeps up on the newest D&D stuff - her friends won't let her DM 1e too much, because it's "too deadly" :D But I've played a total of maybe four 5e games, all DMed by Emma, but one of them was recent, pretty sure she said it was using the new digital stuff. But I am so at sea with 5e that it could be very different and I just don't know, but it seemed the same thing to me. **shrug**
This is a game about killing things and taking their stuff so you can become more powerful in order to kill bigger things and take even better stuff.
Alethan: I'm good with NOT pressing our luck this time.
mjulius: That's how I know I'm home.
Pulpatoon: The whole point of PbP is to take the scheduling pressure off the game. We're just chatty because we're so eager!
Scott308: ...everyone should be reminded of just how wonderful the people they play games with here can be in real life.
Leitz: Quality and quantity wise, I think US is the best I've seen.
Paladin: I can promise terror, glory, and riches...or a quick and brutal death.
Inferno: Come on! That's was Vicar's Head, a completely different doomed village!
Rex: I can move to the wait list to let someone else into the game.

I will say that adventures written using 2014 rules being played by 2024 characters are greatly underpowered. There are some nice rule fixes (like having all the advantages of being invisible even if someone has the ability to see invisible creatures).
On November 2nd I will be participating in another 24 hour game of Dungeons & Dragons as part of Extra Life. This organization uses gaming to help raise money to donate to children's hospitals. I'm raising money for Marshfield Children's Hospital in Marshfield, WI, and all money I raise will go to that hospital. All donations are tax-deductible. And many monsters have been greatly buffed! We fought a kraken today who had a 31 for initiative! That's more than any of us were capable of rolling. And it had two of our party swallowed at the same time. Three is no longer the maximum for legendary saves, either.
