I thought I read somewhere that the Witch was leaving her gear back on the beach.

I had to go back to find that post, but yes, you're exactly right

She still has her staff, waterskin, and two pouches, but currently she does NOT have any rope, spikes, rations, or some other things. Or any idea how to get back to where they are

Seeing Drest and Xenos return and heeding the quiet warning, the witch finds an upturned bed (or part of one) near the north end of the barracks and gets behind it for cover, then beckons Cyril and Taibhse to join her there if they like.

Not claiming my memory as the best LOL, I thought Kain was there.

He is a little put off that he isn't invited to the fort party with Cyril and Taibhse.

Magda hasn't known Kain long, so from her point of view there was that first impression: a tall, strapping cleric wearing armour and carrying a big weapon, nearly as tough as the warriors in the party...
Or there's the Kain that we've all gotten to know: that guy that gets as far as possible from known danger.

Either way, she knew he wouldn't need an invitation!

I suppose that might have been a better option but he didn't realise that they were setting up in the doorway rather than the corner until he turned round and nobody had gone back with him.
