Hello and thanks for the invitation :)

Love the BBCode character sheet!

Regarding Character creation, are we rolling and taking stats in order?

Strength (STR)
Intelligence (INT)
Wisdom (WIS)
Dexterity (DEX)
Constitution (CON)
Charisma (CHA)

Or can we assign at will?

Rolls done by the way :P

Ability Scores:[4d6c1]=15[4d6c1]=12[4d6c1]=13[4d6c1]=8[4d6c1]=16[4d6c1]=7

Good Question! You can assign at will. And if people like they can swap 2 in one stat for 1 in another, if they wish.

I'll add the notes to the CS section.

Also, gratz on rolling a 16 out the gate!

Best I ever rolled on these forums - maybe it is a sign! :D

Anyone has any idea what they might want to play? I am thinking a Cleric.

I've rolled my stats! I like the idea of keeping them down the line. So, thinking of maybe playing a thief or halfling. I know someone else mentioned a halfling, but maybe having a pair would be a fun dynamic? Anyway, I'm flexible so let me know what you think.

Here's my stats I'll probably keep them down the line as well, thinking about rolling up a fighter if that's good with y'all

For those using the BBCode character sheet, where should we 'put it'? :)

  • Magical research: A cleric of any level may spend time and money on magical research. This allows them to create new spells or other magical effects associated with their deity. When a cleric reaches 9th level, they are also able to create magic items.
  • Spell casting: Once a cleric has proven their faith (from 2nd level), the character may pray to receive spells. The level progression table (below) shows the number of spells a cleric may memorize, based on their experience level. The list of spells available to clerics is found in Cleric Spells.
  • Using magic items: As spell casters, clerics can use magic scrolls of spells on their spell list. They can also use items that may only be used by divine spell casters (e.g. some magic staves).
  • Turning the Undead: Clerics can invoke the power of their deity to repel undead monsters encountered. To turn the undead, the player rolls 2d6. The referee then consults the table below, comparing the roll against the HD of the type of undead monsters targeted.

WIPs can go in OOC or Character Creation tab, either works!

Once we've got our party composition I'll pop up a Rooster thread where we can put the finished characters. I have a couple sneaky questions for everyone that will be asked once all WIPs or finished characters are in ;)

Also I noticed on the weapons list you posted the battle axe just had the melee property but on the srd it says two-handed and slow.

If I can use it with one hand does that mean I can use 10gp to buy a shield for my other hand?

I don't see any benefit to dual wielding battle axes so I figured I'll just have my extra in my belt in case one breaks or gets lost.

The SRD is correct, fixed the battleaxe and the mace and warhammer not having the blunt tag.

You can buy a shield in game, or someone might be willing to trade you for the battleaxe depending on what folk roll.

Character is almost complete: viewtopic.php?p=733146#p733146

Let me see if I got the equipment right:

backpack
bedroll
tinderbox
[1d6]=1 Torches
waterskin
[1d6]=5 Iron Rations
[3d6]=9 Gold

[_2d12]=(7+8)=15 for Adventuring Gear
Rope (50')
Rope (50') + grappling hook :P

Cleric
[1d6]=5 for Armour [_2d4]=(2+3)=5 for Weapons
Plate Mail wohooooo!
Crossbow + 20 bolts (but I cannot use it, right?)
Hand Axe (I cannot use it either)
Holy Symbol of Halcyon

So my question is, can I replace the weapons, should I roll again, or I start 'as is' and can try to sell them the first chance I get, to buy others I can use? :)
Same question for the double rope

Plate out the gate is a good'n xD

You roll 2d4 on the cleric table:
Image
So a Sling and a Staff as your starting weapons. You also start with your Holy Symbol of Halcyon.

You are welcome to reroll your rope if you chose to... :3

Gotcha! Thank you for clarifying.
I will stick with the ropes.
But I am buying a Warhammer for 5 gold (even though I like the aesthetics, staff is a bad weapon :P), and 5 extra torches for 8 silver, if that is ok? Can't afford a shield yet.
Apart from that, character is done!

Alas not, no buying things just yet! But I promise you will have an opportunity to stop by the store before going dungeoneering. I believe levie518 also plans on a short shopping trip.

You can add your character up to the Rooster thread! You'll have time to decide on spells in game. Also, you can remove the additional [STR 18+] locked inventory tabs if you like, since the really high ones are unlikely to unlock.

How do people feel about languages? Would it be beneficial for me to provide y'all with a list? I don't think languages will come too much into play during this particular campaign to be honest, but I don't want to take away any choices by not conveying what could possibly be useful before we start.

And with that all characters are considered accepted! I think the group is small enough we can use OOC for tactics, but let me know if you would like a separate thread for that.

I've added one last challenge in the character creation thread that will tie you a little more closely to the party and the village. After that I will hand out rumours and we will start the Game thread, at which point the reigns are off and you are free to explore as you wish.

Aha gotcha - sling and staff it is then, and no extra torches ;)
No spells to decide as level 1 clerics do not get spells. Right?
Also, added to the roster.

Regarding languages - I know not everyone is a fan of it, but I like leaving it open ended.
When we come across an 'unknown' language, then whomever has 'language slots' available can say - 'Hey, could I know this one? could be cool because of so and so'
Just my two cents.
Irrelevant for me in particular because Thorin knows no extra languages :P
