Chapter 2: The Comet’s Tail (Revs & Baby Blue}

"So, 6 hours flight, 2 hours ground, add an extra hour to be safe, let's say 9 hours max. As for cost, the client will be paying, but we'll need to provide them with a figure up front. We have a meeting with them in a few hours."

“Spot on, then.” Basil says. “You can tell Mr. Johnson that’s 100 grand – 50 each way. My fees are non-negotiable. If he balks, point out that includes fuel, take off and landing fees, tower misdirection, transport for 8 blokes, and the best pilot this side of the pond. You can tell him he’s welcome to shop around. I’m actually cutting you kids a deal since you showed me a bit of spunk.”

“Mind you, that quote excludes ground transportation. You’ll have to work that out with Ozymandias yourselves, luvs. And I’d work on finding your own wheelman. Finding Ozzy in town, available, and willing would be rather jammy.”

Basil takes another sip of his gin and tonic. Then he reaches into the left inside breast pocket of his suit jacket and pulls out a small leather wallet. Opening it, he pulls out an old-fashioned, paper business card. Then he slides a gold pen from the same pocket, turns the card to the back, and jots something down. “Here you go, lad,” he says, offering the card to Revs. “This is how you get in touch. If you’ll give me your contact information, I’ll pass it along to Ozymandias.”

Finishing off the last of his gin and tonic, Basil says, “Now, if that’s all you need, I really am quite knackered. So, if you’ll excuse me, I’ll be off to see my uncle ned.”

{Revs}

Revs takes the card "Thanks Basil, we appreciate it, you're a... right good bloke" he grins "I hope I got that right. I'll see what Ozymandias says. I could do the driving myself if we could get a van, although someone who knows the area would be an advantage. I'll look into it in the morning"


He gives Basil his contact details

"I'll message you a confirmation after our meeting with the client. So it should be waiting for you when you wake up."

“Quite ace, lad.” Basil chuckles. “You really don’t want to get me started doing American,” he says. “Really, what you people have done to our language.” He laughs, glancing heavenward. “I do a right good Bostonian, actually, a decent Midwest, and a fair Texans. I can pass. But I’m not wrecked enough for that tonight.”

Basil stands. Despite the unseasonable heat, he puts on his overcoat and his flat cap. He takes up his cane with his right hand, though he passes it to his left in order to stretch out his hand. “Pleasure making your acquaintance, luvs,” he says, offering his hand first to Baby Blue and then to Revs. It’s then that both realize he has been wearing gloves throughout their whole meeting.

Shifting his cane back to his right hand, Basil nods to the bartender.

“Later, Belfry,” the bartender says as Basil heads out the door.

Revs shakes the proffered hand "Thank you again. Good night."

Once Basil has left Revs turns to Baby Blue. "Is there anything else? I'll message the boss and let him know we are about to leave. He's on his own errand here in Redmond."

Baby Blue

"Let me see Basil's contact information for a minute," says Baby Blue, taking the business card, and reading it, front to back. She hands it back to Revs. "Naw, I got nothing else. Does he need our support?"

{Revs}

Revs hands over the card.

"When I spoke to him he said he was fine, that he knows the area. I'll ask when I message him."

Revs messages Headstone: - - We've got a pilot organised and we're about to head back home, unless you need us? - -

[Charybdis Richelle]

{GM}

Headstone’s message comes back. -Solid work, chummer. Best you head back though. Rusted Stiletto turf, ain’t really your scene, neh? Did ya manage to sort the van for the ride to the plane too?-

{Revs}

Revs replies
"OK, will head back. Might have a van for the other end, but probably have to sort it ourselves both ends."

He turns to Baby Blue: "He says we should head back."

Baby Blue

"Then let's head back," says Baby Blue.

{Revs}

Revs nods "Let's go"

The ride back seems more active than the ride there. Nothing happens in their direct vicinity, but Baby Blue and Revs hear more than the usual cacophony of automatic weapons fire and Lone Star and DocWagon sirens off in the distance. The sky seems abuzz with the blade slap of security copters. Search lights flare across the distant skyline, lightening and darkening it by turns.

Still, the pair arrives back at headquarters at around 1:30 AM.
