I plan to use 5e Basic and 5e Hardcore, mostly, but I will be tinkering a bit with things on the edges. I'll post changes and clarifications in this thread.

Cooking With Special Herbs

Anyone may attempt to prepare a "good meal/drink" using Special Herbs. Those who succeed can grant Temporary Hit Points (for the day) to anyone eating/drinking their meal. Those Proficient in Medicine can add their proficiency bonus + WIS to their roll.

The Special Herbs cost 1 sp per meal/drink prepared (take it from your Gold as you use it and we'll say you already bought the herbs and haven't accounted for it until now).

Task: Make a Really Good Meal/Drink
Roll 1d20+Medicine Prof + WIS (if you have the proficiency or 1d20 by itself if you do not)
  • Natural 1 = person eating/drinking this get's ill and loses 1d4 HP.
  • 1-4 = meal/drink tastes bad and isn't usable.
  • 5-8 = meal/drink is fine, tastes good, does nothing else.
  • 9 -12 = meal/drink gives the person eating/drinking this 1d4 temp HP for the day.
  • 13-16 = meal/drink gives the person eating/drinking this 1d6 temp HP for the day.
  • 17-20 = meal/drink gives the person eating/drinking this 1d8 temp HP for the day.
  • 21+ = meal/drink gives the person eating/drinking this 1d10 temp HP for the day.
  • Natural 20 = in addition to anything else, the person eating/drinking this gets 5 temp HP for the day.
Does not stack! Any Temp HP gained in any way later in the day replace anything this did.
