All Roads Lead to Red Larch
Re: All Roads Lead to Red Larch
Bugs continues to mumble and groan. He clumsily attempts to drape his arm over his resting head, covering his ears, at the continued commotion. "Oh, blast it all!" he slurs with the flash of light from the errant Light spell. "You buggers are doin' this on purpose."

Mag
I kept reading not understanding that we had moved to the second round, I will assume that I lost my two round attack to my confusion.
He attacks the drow again.
Attack with Long Sword[1d20+3]=8+3=11, Damage with Long Sword S/M [1d8+5]=8+5=13 L [1d12+5]=11+5=16

Kol attempts to keep the sword wielding hand from getting free and will try to
use her other forearm to choke the drow into subconsciousness.

Re: All Roads Lead to Red Larch
Now It's Dark...
Initiative: Vesper (1), Neogra (2), Drow (3), Raz (5), Kol & Moan (6), Mag (8)
While Neogra and Raz invoke healing upon their fallen comrade, Vesper, others in the group do their damnedest to kill the Drow...but things don't go quite as planned. The Drow twists and flips over his feet and breaks free from Kol's hold on his wrist.
Grappling: [1d100]=44
Drow break hold: [1d100]=52
"Oloth!" he says, and the area around him is suddenly plunged into darkness!
Kol, Mag and Moan can't see a freaking thing!
(Does Moan continue with his attack? Or does he do something different?)
Vesper is back to full health.

Mag
Given the Darkness "Spell", Mag will change his action to cast a Light spell with the purpose of dispelling the darkness (if that is allowed)

Didn't we already have a light spell up? Would that cancel the darkness at least where they overlap?
Moan will still attack this round, I think Darkness is -4 to hit but could be wrong.

Likewise, I intended to use healing at the end of the first round.

The Light spell hit the bar, so they don't overlap actually, it's just that the bar gives off a bright glow.

To reiterate, Neogra moves Vesper out of harm's way. Afterwards, she will grab her crossbow, load a +1 arrow and cover whatever escape routes the drow has (probably the main entrance). "People, move back and lay low, lest you come in harm's way!"

Re: All Roads Lead to Red Larch
Having held his attack, Mag invokes a spell of light to combat the darkness, and this gives Moan all advantage he needs. The big ranger slashes the Drow from neck to nuts and then drives his sword clean through the Drow's gut! The sphere of darkness fades as does the battle. Everyone is standing around quietly as the reality is sinking in > there's a dead Drow on the floor!
"How in the nine hells did a Drow show up in Red Larch?" asks the constable.
Apologies for the confusion on the actions. It was likely too quick a turn around on my part. I just wanted to get an intro confrontation out of the way to see how you guys would react. Onward!

"This is not good, evil creatures of legend showing up in the middle of a Inn. Can someone treat Vesper, it looks like this thing was using poison? Is there a healer in town?"
Moan will carefully search the Drow, not touching anything that might be poisoned.
No problem, combat can be confusing, as it is in real life.

Razillin "I was about to ask that very question myself. My best guess is through the mines, they are an underdark race that would come up through any cave or tunnel on the surface that crosses any of their tunnels down below. Maybe that explains the ghosts the miners have been seeing. Drow from what I recall are often only out at night, and rather swift and adept at blending in and hiding. Though if stories hold truth they typically come in raiding parties and slaughter surface dwellers or so I thought anyway."
directing his attention to Moan "What am I chopped liver? I just cast healing on Vesper, as did our holy warrior. Unfortunately, we need an anti-venom or antidote for whatever poison the drow used."

"You are not chopped liver Razillin, I was interested if they had a healer to deal with the poison I don't recall any of us having the means to do that. I will see what I can do."
He treats Vesper for being poisoned.
Not sure if it is a natural poison or not but he will try. What do I roll? The Ranger chart shows 9+ so unsure what die to roll.

"If you fail, we need to take her to the temple, they should have what she needs!" Neogra says. She steps close as to not alert the guest of the inn. "Constable, this matter might escalate beyond the scope of some adventuresome strangers. As my companion said, drow rarely walk the land alone."

Razillin goes over to the dead drow and takes any weapons it had away hoping something on them contains the poison used. "If there is such a healer I think we need to find something with the poison on it. For them to even make an antidote for it."

Re: All Roads Lead to Red Larch
You Say Drow, I Say Drow
Something the group notices is how Constable Harburk pronounces "Drow" (rhymes with "wow" or "chow") and how Jarth Oneshield calls them "Drow" (rhymes with "throw" or "grow").
Not sure if it is a natural poison or not but he will try. What do I roll? The Ranger chart shows 9+ so unsure what die to roll.
Dude, I've looked through every book I have...twice...and can't find this "Ranger chart." Help an old man out, will ya?!?
- a fine mesh armor of exquisite workmanship; made of a type of steel alloy containing another type of metal.
- a short sword of the same metal.
- a long dagger of the same metal.
- a hand crossbow and a small quiver of bolts (9), all of which have some type of dark resin on the tip.
- a small buckler that would fit over one's forearm or wrist.
- a small leather pouch (around the neck under the armor) with coins (20 silver) and two small pieces of blue quartz.
- a small belt pouch holding a tiny round tin; inside is a gummy type of resin like that which coats the crossbow bolts.
The constable listens and nods, watching Neogra and Raz treat Vesper. The elder Dwarf, Jarth Oneshield, clears his throat and says, "Me kin and the Drow have been enemies since the All Father forged us. Many a clan went back to the mud because of these evil elves. Er, no disrespect meant to you, youngling." Jarth gives Mag a nod and continues talking. "Could be me miners opened a vein to the dark realm below; gave the Drow a chance to come to the surface. All the more reason to investigate the quarries to make sure."GreyWolfVT wrote: ↑Thu Mar 31, 2022 3:44 pm Razillin - "I was about to ask that very question myself. Constable Harburk tries to rub the tiredness from his face, but only succeeds in making his eyes redder than they already were. "Well, I may be able to spare a few men to go with you. I'll send a raven out in the morning; perhaps Waterdeep or Neverwinter can spare some men to come and help us. In the meantime, I want to thank you and your companions for dealing with this...situation."Lance wrote: ↑Thu Mar 31, 2022 4:00 pm "If you fail, we need to take her to the temple, they should have what she needs!" Re: All Roads Lead to Red Larch
Razillin grabs the tin with the resin that looks similar to that which is on the bolts, trying to make sure that the tin is not opened in the light if any of the tales are true. "I think this tin contains the same poison resin, but we should grab the bolts for that hand crossbow too I think Moan. I think but cannot say for sure but you might want to keep those bolts out of the light. Some tale I remember hearing from my elders about drow weapons or something losing their potency or something like that in daylight. Maybe it was the poisons they use but I don't fully remember. We always figured the older gnomes were just trying to scare us young ones." for those listening the gnome sounds more like speaking from wisdom passed down rather than book smarts. His pronouncing of the word drow sounds like he is saying droe.

Once made he administers it to the wounds.

Razillin stops what he is doing and watches Moan. "Hmm well, it appears you have things under control Moan. I'll still keep this tin it could be useful one never knows." he says with a bit more jovial tone as he was not truly insulted or angry at Moan for his earlier statement. To prove it he smile and says "Did you guys see it when I made the drow sneeze, that was funny but not quite the distraction I was hoping it would be."

With the Drow (drow drow drow your boat) dead and a concentration on checking the body for the content and helping the wounded, Mag will watch the other members of the bar for someone else supporting the Drow - perhaps leaving or trying to get away.

The big Barbarian stumbles back from the drow's escape and is going to attempt to cut it in two with her two handed blade when
the dark elf is cut in half.
Sheathing her two handed sword she exhales, calming down.
Nudging the dead corpse with her toe, she is pensive for once.
"What this black elf? I hear of Drow but one here? Like previous asked, what he was here for?"
Looking at Vesper , she asks "Was enemy of you? You make person upset and they want you dead? Tell me who and I kill them!"
