So tell me stranger, has a ghost scared away your appetite?" She rests one hand on the hilt of her blade.
The "stranger" turns their head slightly as Vesper approaches; pale hair clearly visible now. The stranger chuckles at Vesper's question, and in a soft voice, replies, "My mother taught me, there are no such beings as ghosts."
Then Vesper hears a "twang" and feels a prick to the right of her navel. She flinches and looks down: a small bolt with black fletching is sticking in her stomach! And gods, does it burn...

Alright folks: take a good look at the layout below. From where you are sitting, can you see what just happened? There are patrons and guests at all of the tables; I just didn't go to the trouble of placing them. Act accordingly. ;)

Razillin turns to the constable "Do you know that person over there constable?" he indicates the one near Vesper. "I suspect they are up to no good and I fear my friend is now in need of aid. But I dare not take any actions that might get me arrested." secretly he is paying internally that he has the correct spells needed to aid Vesper having no idea what just happened.

Initiative [1d10]=5

Using a gnome cantrip he tries to make the pale man near Vesper sneeze. yes that is one of the cantrips on the gnome racial list I took.

Vesper winces at the burning pain she felt in her stomach but now was not the time to deal with the pain or the poison she knew must have coated the tip of the bolt. She pushed such thoughts aside as she would a wayward branch when walking through the forest. The hand that was touching the hilt of her sword now grasps it and pulls it loose of the sheath, her face calm as she moves to attack the pale man.

Neogra jumps up and heads towards Vesper, no weapon drawn, to administer healing if needed. "By Ilmater's tears, leave her alone!"

Cure light wounds, held until (or rather if) needed.

All Hell Breaks Loose!

Initiative: Vesper (1), Neogra (2), Drow (3), Raz (5), Kol & Moan (6), Mag (8)
Initiative: [1d10]=3
Mag: (Not sure of your initiative system, but seeing a d10 in your 2e game) > yeah, normally one would use a 1d6 in 1E, but since we are leaning toward 2E, I'm fine with the 1d10 for initiative ;)

"My mother taught me, there are no such beings as ghosts."
Then Vesper hears a "twang" and feels a prick to the right of her navel. She flinches and looks down: a small bolt with black fletching is sticking in her stomach! And gods, does it burn...
But Vesper shakes off the poisonous effects which cause her to break out in a sheen of sweat, but she pulls her sword and attacks the pale man. (Roll to hit & damage)

"By Ilmater's tears, leave her alone!" Neogra exclaims, peeling out of her chair and hurrying toward Vesper.

The "pale man" leaps off his chair, his hood falling back as he draws a sword with blackened metal. A dark elf stands before you! How long has it been since one of the subterranean races walked the surface of Faerun? He smirks and jabs at Vesper with his short sword, driving it deep into Vesper's gut! "How does that feel, bitch?" he hisses, jerking the blade free.

(Roll another saving throw vs. Poison at -4)

Raz breaks off his conversation with the constable after seeing the attack on his companion. He speaks a word and abruptly, the Drow elf violently sneezes!

Moan yells at his hound and then draws steel and charges the attacker.
Kol follows at his heels and tries to tackle the Drow! (Both need to roll to hit)

As Cu obeys his master and friend, Mag spins out of his chair, drawing steel as he charges up behind the Drow and delivers a hard slash to the attacker's back! (Dmg 7)

The Drow cries out in pain, but does not back down. "The Spider Queen take you all!" he growls, backing up against the bar (assuming he hasn't been tackled).

Razillin says almost in shock "A drow on the surface this far out?" almost like in other locations it might be more common at night, than here Red Larch. He kind of chuckles at the success in his cantrip. "Well good constable I think we mght have already solve one little issue. Where there is one drow I suspect we might find more." the gnome seeing most of his friends already handling the drow watches the rest of the folks in the tavern.

Kol

The big woman jumps out of her seat and rushes the assailant. Her eyes go wide as she sees a dark elf reveal himself to the tavern, but keeping her wits,

she grabs the dark elf in her arms hard landing on the floor on top of him if she can.

“Keep it down, will you?” Bugs slurs, never bothering to open his eyes. “Can’t you tell I have a bloody headache?” he moans.

Razillin shakes his head listening to Bugs's mumbling "Bigger issues right now Bugs, just sleep it off friend." the gnome moves to at the very least heal Vesper. Then decides that maybe blinding the enemy might help.

casting light aimed at the drow's face.

The room erupts in movement as Vesper draws her blade and strikes. As she is struck in return, she staggers back cursing feeling the burning as the poison seeps into the wound.

All Hell Continues to Break Loose!
Initiative: Vesper (1), Neogra (2), Drow (3), Raz (5), Kol & Moan (6), Mag (8)

Vesper staggers back, taking a swipe at the Drow with her sword, narrowly missing his face. She sits down hard on the floor as her eyes glaze over and she slumps to unconsciousness.
Neogra runs over to her companion and begins to administer divine healing (roll CLW 1d8 +1/level).

Kol jumps out of her seat and rushes the assailant. Her eyes go wide as she sees a dark elf reveal himself to the tavern, but keeping her wits, she grabs the dark elf in her arms hard landing on the floor on top of him if she can.
The wiry Drow squirms and twists, but Kol manages to hold onto his right wrist...the one hold his short sword which has a reddish sheen on it, dripping Vesper's blood on the hardwood floor. Grappling: [1d100]=46

Moan is right behind Kol and the big ranger tries to skewer the Drow, but he damn near sticks Kol instead! (Note to self to talk about critical hits and misses.)

Raz moves to help Neogra at first, while Bugs complains about the noise, and as Mag holds his attack being unsure about what to do, the Gnome invokes his magic and casts "Light" at the Drow's face! Perhaps sensing what the Gnome is about to do, the Drow ducks and the light spell hits the bar behind him, illuminating Kol and Moan very well...even blinding them temporarily. (-1 to hit until your eyes adjust.)

Actions!
The map hasn't changed much except for Neogra and Raz being near Vesper who is about 10 feet from the melee.
Kol and Moan are squinting against the light (-1 to hit) and the Drow is attempting to break free of Kol's grip.
When indicating your actions, put in a contingency plan. For example, using Kol's last action, she moves to grapple and rolls to hit...which really, in 1E is a percentage roll...and is so damn complicated, I just went with a normal attack roll then rolled on the grappling table in the DMG. But she could say, "Kol attempts to grapple the Drow. If successful, she will try to subdue him with a punch to the face; if unsuccessful, she will draw steel and prepare to attack next round." Something like that. Cool?

Stats:
Vesper > down 7 and unconscious
Drow > down 7 and grappled by the hand

Moan

Moan continues his attacks on the Drow.

Long Sword +1 [1d20+3]=18+3=21 to hit [1d8+7]=6+7=13 damage
Long Sword +1 [1d20+3]=16+3=19 to hit [1d8+7]=3+7=10 damage

-1 penalty includedin above rolls, 2 attacks every even round for specialization.

Vesper > down 7 and unconscious
Neogra mumbles a prayer "Ilmater, keeper of those who suffer, grant this maiden relief from the pain."

Cure Light Wounds: [1d8+1]=1+1=2

She then grabs Vesper and moves her out of harm's way, unless something hinders them, in which case she draws her sword.

Razillin leaves the light spell going even if it did not work as he had hoped with all the distraction. He follows Neogra back and casts his own healing on Vesper hoping it will be enough.
