Fool lights up. "This place is going to be a grave marker if we don't get moving. Shelley, think ya can help me have a look at the truck? Those goons really tore up her autocannon something good, and we're going to need all the guns we can get." She looks up at the hunter. "Don't suppose ya have any timeshares you haven't told us about, Rat? And, hold on, where the hell's ya car? Any chance we can get a ride that isn't on the morning news? We're gonna need a transport for Salome so we can be ready for this Lady J soon as the 24 hours are up."

A light on the side of Fool's head blinks as she sends out a signal to move Seoul con Carne! back to the apartment. "...And don't worry, I've been with Carne! for years, I can tell ya where she's hurting."
Gonna try to help with Shelley's next move! [2d6+3] = 9+3 = 12

John sighs. "The car is... It's a long story. Let's say it's out of the picture for now." He looks around. "I agree we should be off this place soon. I don't have any place available but..." He hesitates for a bit. "...Hey, since the job is screwed up anyway, I don't suppose you mind paying Horizoonsoft a visit at some point?"

A deep breath, made staccato by pain. Salome pulls herself together.

"Alright. What we all need is a coffin to hide in, the cheapest hotel we find. My bike is off the feeds, right?"

"Hum... Horizoonsoft, eh? I have no scruples against fuckin' with them, as long as it pays. I gotta get something outta all this."
Fool shakes her head at Salome, frowning slightly. Her voice is uncharacteristically low and quiet. Concern? "Is it a good idea to drive in that state? I can't imagine the fried ware's gonna do ya any favors..."

The hours tick by as you lay low, until the inevitable message from Mr Johnson arrives. I am left wondering why you haven't contacted me, given that half of Rason knows our friend is in your care. Meet me here that we may discuss the matter further. The message is accompanied by a geonav pinpoint, a cursory examination of which reveals the location to be a warehouse complex by the docks, right on the border of Ledokol's extraterritoriality. The meeting could spell trouble, but ghosting a Johnson can lead to much worse...

John gives a look to everyone trying to get consent. "Should we accept the meeting anyway? I will talk if needed."

Warehouse Complex, Dockyards
23:13 AM

The team arrives at the specified location later than expected, the journey across the city taking longer than expected thanks to the necessity of public transport. Even at this hour the place has a smattering of small groups working, though as you venture deeper into the winding side alleys towards your destination the number of lights and people both start to dwindle. Eventually you stand before Warehouse 83, dark and silent besides a single, muscular guard wearing street-casual military fatigues and dark shades leaning nonchalantly on the warehouse next to a small entranceway, the flare of his cigarette sporadically reflecting the light of the SMG slung over his shoulder. His stance shifts a little as he notices you, but then he relaxes again and speaks no words; this must be the place, if he knows your faces.

Venturing inside, you encounter two more guards dressed in a similar fashion to the man outside, former military or a thuggish approximation of such, who nod you around a corner and into a familiar face. Mr Johnson, impeccably-dressed and looking a little out of place here in the interior gloom, flanked by the two men John identified as Ledokol heavies a few days ago in the Kiss Kiss Bar. Johnson smiles as you approach, but there is a barely-concealed tension to him that makes the expression more sinister than welcoming. "You're late, so I hope you'll excuse my bluntness. Where is the package?" The two guards from before have moved behind you to box you in, their weapons held ready but not explicitly aimed. Perhaps that might change...

What do you do?
Apologies for the delay, New Years was a heavy one!
John rolled a 7 for Getting Paid, and chose that you learned something from the mission. Everyone can mark xp right now, but that also leaves this meeting open to being a set-up, attracting a third party, and not paying out. A bold move indeed!

Salome quietly stands by the others. The adrenaline has worn off entirely, and what remains is merely the illusion of lethality, thinly mounted for her employer's eyes.

The darkness of the warehouse should have made Fool a little jumpy, so far away from her ride. She notes the guards and their weapons. Carefully, she places her hand on John's shoulder, before he can speak, and gives him a small nod. Fool turns to Mr. Johnson, steps forward and raises her hands up, "Ya must've seen the morning news, right? All of Rason's seen Kovačić' by now, unfortunately. So— and I want ya to know we had ya best interests in mind— we had to let her go."

Johnson remains silent for a while, then blinks once. "Let her go." He nods to himself, as if the words have some deeply profound meaning to them. "You caused a destructive tailback outside Geongseong on the Rason H, got into a publicly televised firefight with Fujimoto Heavy security, plastered your faces and business information all over the feeds, and evidently got one of your team shot half to death..." he motions to Salome. "...to make away with the package. And then you... let her go?" Johnson's smile returns, though this time it is bemusement it fails to conceal rather than impatience. "Is this part of some left field negotiation strategy, perhaps? Trying to up your pay? Help me understand this situation, and do it quickly." His interest seems genuinely piqued as his gaze is intimately attached to Fool.

The fry cook locked eyes with Johnson, and tried to maintain her cool the best she could. "Ya an astute one, my friend. That's absolutely correct!" Slowly, nodding to the guards, she moved one of her hands to lower her gas mask so she could give the biggest grin she had. "That's right, that's right! Everyone has seen a glimpse of Seoul con Carne! now, and what else did they see? Wrecked Debonairs! A team dedicated to protecting Kovačić, and we still plucked her outta their grasp. Salome, as ya saw, got hit, but she's still standing. Why? Because she's a certified badass." Fool nods, letting her tongue wag as she keeps her eyes moving to read the room.
I'd like to fast talk the Johnson! [2d6+1] = 4+1 = 5
"...And we took steps to make sure it doesn't come back to bite. Don't you worry. We'll get her again, much more quietly!" She tries her best grin again.

Johnson listens to all of this without batting an eyelid, then makes a show of looking at the chromed Rolex on his wrist. "And within the next 45 minutes, I assume? Your master plan to extract the package, who is now presumably burrowed deeper into the Geongseong's extensive security layers than an entrenched tick; the plan to take her is ready to be complete within the next 45 minutes, is it? Or perhaps, and this is my own positing here, but perhaps there is no such plan in place, the package is now the most unobtainable person in this entire city, and you just tried to lie to someone who has survived brokering these shadow deals for the last 12 years. Lie poorly, may I add." He smiles again, and this time it hides no emotion besides amusement as he continues. "You see, reputation is everything in my line of work. I gave my word that a job would be done, and now due to your own choices, my word has been broken, thus my reputation has taken a hit, ergo so has my ability to work." Johnson takes a deep breath, sighing loudly, theatrically. "That is one problem I shall have to deal with. But first a more pressing matter..." The ex-military security raise their weapons on instinct, ready to fire as Johnson turns his back to you. "What am I to do with you?"

If he wanted you dead, you'd already be at the bottom of Rason Harbour filled with more lead than a rad-sealed bunker. Looks like Johnson is giving you one last chance to save yourselves...

What do you do?
Johnson has been created as a threat, and his clock has advanced to 15:00.

John takes a deep breath and raises his arms slowly as a gesture of surrender. "Yeah, we are dead men, we both know it very well. We are completely at your mercy." He takes a good look at the goons and then looks back at Johnson. "So? What we can do for you?"

There's another brief pause before Johnson replies, he back still turned to you. "What indeed?" You sense the subtle tone of satisfaction in his suave intonation, and get the feeling that this was his real goal for inviting you here all along. "You see, another reason I have survived so long in this line of work, thrived even, is because I know when to cut and run, but also when to allow second chances. It is true that you have allowed the package to leave your possession this time, for reasons I can only imagine, and that your decision to do so has cost me in some capacity. But it is also true that you snatched a high profile VIP from an expectant, highly-proficient security team." He turns to face you, the smile this time devious, cunning. "It would be a waste to retire such a capable asset, especially now it is in debt to me. And so I offer you a second chance."

Johnson nods to one of the two security guards who were at the Kiss Kiss Bar, who opens a durasteel attaché case to reveal a hypo-injector and several small glass cannisters, each filled with a translucent red liquid. "A simple nano-tag dose." he says, reading your faces. "I like to know where my agents are at all times. It will also work as insurance should you choose to suddenly leave Rason. But I digress. You shall undertake a job for me at a time of my choosing. You shall perform the job to the best of your abilities. Upon its satisfactory completion, your debt shall be considered paid, and all past transgressions forgiven." Johnson shrugs slightly. "Or, you choose not to take the job, and our business ends here. Permanently. It is entirely up to you."

What do you do?
If you take the shot, you shall become +owned by Johnson.

Salome steps towards Johnson till she stands tight and compact in front of him. Even moving at meatspeed, synthnerveless, she has a dancer's grace. Grace, yes, and urchin's cunning: not all of her roots are lost.

"If we let you tag us, we'd not be the kind of crew you'd want doing your biz. Client safety's sacrosanct. Yeah, we fucked up your job, but we didn't fuck up your safety. Put those things away." She waves dismissively at the injectors.

"We're not leaving Rason, man. We live here, work here, and we'll do your damn job, whenever you like it. Fair's fair."

John rubs the back of his neck leaving an audible sigh. "I agree with the young lady here. I'm not against doing the job, it's your win after all. But I have enough crap in my body already, running into my veins and speaking in my head, I'd rather cut the extra juice." He opens his arms in defeat. "We ain't going anywhere. Do you really think we have the means and cred to leave this place?"

There's a tense silence in the spacious warehouse as Johnson mulls over your words, and then, laughter. Genuine laughter, like that from a man who has not laughed in a long while. "You really are something, you know that? You toss a catch back after the work's finished, crawl here barely breathing and then try and haggle the colour of the thread offered to you. I have to say, I am impressed." He reaches into the an inside pocket of his expensive-looking Gucci-Armani suit, takes out a silver cigarette case and carefully lights one of its contents. The tension in the warehouse seems to have dissipated somewhat; the security no longer feel ready to ventilate you, which is always a plus. "The trackers were just for insurance anyway; I would have no trouble finding you when I needed you, believe me." He takes an amused draw of exotic smelling tobacco.

"So it sounds like we have a deal. One job, my terms, absolutely no negotiation." There's a distinct finality in Johnson's tone, one that suggest you've pressed your luck as far as it will go and your remaining options are to swiftly leave the warehouse or to find new permanent employment as fish food.

Rason City, Downtown
23:28 AM

Johnson motions to the warehouse exit as he smokes, the two guards following you out but seemingly unconcerned with where you go. The team moves out of the dockside complex quickly and finds themselves downtown shortly before midnight, the late night entertainment in full swing as Monday approaches. A pair of dog-sized Fujimoto hunter-seeker drones make a pass overhead, hovering for a fraction of a second longer than you'd like as they reach you, but then resume their unknown patrol; now is a good time to lay low, to retreat to a safehouse and keep your head down until all this blows over. In a week the heat will be off, and in a month this will be all but forgotten; but not by Fujimoto Heavy. Such is life in the shadows.
