First Adventure - DCC #67 Sailors on the Starless Sea Part 1
Re: First Adventure - Sailors on the Starless Sea
Aengus shakes his head at Goratrix, "Nay, there is more in this chest, and whatever it is was worth hidin." Aengus jabs his spear toward the center chest without hitting it.
DM: Ragnar sees what I described previously. The room appears to be empty other than what I described.

Aengus turns the chest over with his spear, "Let's see inside it and see how to get to it," he says.
Bronn meanwhile turns the chests on either end over, "an see if anything hidin in these others."
Crow uses his torch to search the walls for any unusual stonework, especially like the concealed door that led to this area, if he sees any more torches or lamps he will point them out to the others.
ooc: what is the lighting here, is Crow's torch the only light source?
Darvin watches the chest being overturned by the brothers, still concentrating his senses on any tremors other than those from the party.

Re: First Adventure - Sailors on the Starless Sea
Uriel, after saying a silent pray, heads down the steps with the others. For he thinks there are far too many in that little room now and more treasures can be found below. With torch and club in hand he begins his walk downward. Keeping a close eye on the man in front of him all the time. "Come on, we need to head lower into the depths of this foul place. For there is more evil to be dealt with and treasures to be found."
Re: First Adventure - Sailors on the Starless Sea
"Alright, down we will go," replied Ragnar, "Evil there may be, but I can smell no treasure in the room below. But down we will go all the same."
Re: First Adventure - Sailors on the Starless Sea
Aengus turns the chest over with his spear, "Let's see inside it and see how to get to it," he says. Aengus finds there's a false panel on the back of the chest.
Bronn meanwhile turns the chests on either end over, "an see if anything hidin in these others." but finds they are normal empty chests.
Crow uses his torch to search the walls for any unusual stonework, but nothing looks unusual other than the fact it's very wet. Crow doesn't find any more torches or lamps in his search.
Darvin watches the chest being overturned by the brothers, he still concentrates his senses on any tremors other than those from the party but still comes up with nothing.
Yes Crow's light source is the only one other than a dim light coming from the room at the bottom of the stairs but the source is as of yet unknown.
Ragnar's shoulders slump in disappointment when he dosen't discover any new treasures. He waits on the steps until the others are done as he's not foolish enough to proceed alone.

Ragnar & Uriel together head down to the bottom of the steps and look around the room.
A casual inspection of the chamber reveals four nooks concealed in the corners of the hall. Each nook contains a single
hooded robe, embroidered with bizarre sigils stitched in silver thread. The fetid pool set in the center of the chamber is thick with black algae and natural slime
DM: Actions?

Aengus says, "Crow, over here with that torch so we can see this better!"
Crow complies and holds the torch so it illuminates the chest with the false panel. Aengus will then look at the panel for any mechanism to open it, or that appears to be a trap if it is opened, and will then first try to open the panel using his spear and if that is too clumsy will then carefully open it with his hand.
Bronn and Darvin watch from Aengus from a bit of a distance, glancing at those proceeding down into the next room from time to time.

Re: First Adventure - Sailors on the Starless Sea
Eldarial goes to the next room with her new companions and walks over to one of the alcoves to check out a robe. She touches it with her spear before examining it with her hands.
Winter is coming...
Re: First Adventure - Sailors on the Starless Sea
Ragnar will go inspect the pool. He doesn't touch the water yet though.

Aengus says, "Crow, over here with that torch so we can see this better!"
Crow complies and holds the torch so it illuminates the chest with the false panel. Aengus then looks at the panel and slides it open with his spear. As the false compartment open a loud clicking sound comes from the chest and two blindingly fast blades slam down into Aengus's spear denting the wood.
Hidden inside the compartment are
2 silver rings set with emeralds
1 silk tabard stitched with a sigil that matches one from the well that was never identified
1 steel vial containing two doses of a purple and black liquid
DM: FYI the first roll was a luck check to see if you could open the door with your spear successfully. The second one ended up being unneeded since you succeeded on your luck check.

Eldarial goes to the next room with her new companions and walks over to one of the alcoves to check out a robe. She touches it with her spear and finds nothing afoot so she examines it with her hands.
It's a single hooded robe, embroidered with bizarre sigils stitched in silver thread. The robes are mold-eaten and rotten to the touch. After discussion with the party you find that the sigil matches the well and the sigil on the tabard just found in the hidden chest compartment.
Ragnar goes to inspect the pool and when he peers into it a skull rises to the surface, a
faint glow emanating from its eye sockets.

Re: First Adventure - Sailors on the Starless Sea
Aengus grabs the loot, and since a bunch of the party is exploring another room, says, "I guess we'll have to take a closer look at these later, let's get that light down there with them."
Aengus, Bronn, Crow, and Darvin then head down the stairs, Crow leading with his torch, Aengus following with his spear, Darvin next (sensing for tremors), and Bronn taking up the rear.

Eldarial rips the sigil off the robe and sticks it in her pocket. She then drops the moldy robe and turns toward the pool.
"Ragnar, what is that?" she asks, walking over.

Uriel, seeing that a skull has risen from the pool acts fast. Grabbing the robe, that is now on the ground, he tosses it onto the skull and runs out of the room.

Aengus and Darvin do their best to resist the urge to look into the pool.
Crow, seeing others fleeing the room (ooc: are they running up toward Crow?), stops and puts his arms out to stop the others.
