Wulfhart draws his sword and takes a position behind Guido. The satyr makes a good guinea pig the barbarian thinks to himself.

Swilbosh, savage lizardman warrior:

Seeing the prisoner freed of his bindings, the barbaric warrior tenses like a panther ready to spring.

His blazing eyes watch Wrenly and Guido as he hisses, "Wrenly. Casssst a sssspell alsssso."

Finally! Guido tosses the rope which held him and shudders, wiping himself down as if ridding himself of unwanted pests. He seems to want to continue in that line of conversation, but when the giant Lizard Man Swilbosh steps forward and hisses with malice, the Priest, already fearful of the reptilian, starts and steps back. Ah, Swilbosh, he stammers, eyes wide with the same fright he's always had in dealings with the cold-blooded Warrior, Please remember, I'm the one who healed you, yes? And in stepping back, falls flat on his butt.

Wrenly watches confused for a moment as Asherrion attempts to cut off Guido's manacles, then steps in and unlocks them himself, freeing the cleric. He steps back again. "I am irritated to no end by this 'test.' A waste of a spell that might subsequently have aided us in a scrabble or dust-em-up with some vile inhabitant of this place," he says. "The question is, what spell to waste? He frowns and taps his foot for a moment. "Ah, yes, I have it... He flexes his hands and gestures... to no effect. "Wait, what's this?!! My magic!...what's happened to my magic!!??... JUST JOSHING YOU!!" he yells finally, then "Embiggen!" and casts Enlarge on Andover. He then steps back and folds his arms "how-you-like-me-now?" fashion and glares in Swilbosh's direction. "What's he done?" he adds, quietly, holding his pose and maintaining eye-contact, but pointing a single finger in Guido's direction.

Guido concentrates over Porphyry's body for a moment, then his eyes roll back and he slumps to the floor.

Andover...

Spellslasher (THAC0: 16): [1d20+4] = 1+4 = 5; S/M Damage: [1d8+7] = 2+7 = 9; L Damage: [1d12+7] = 8+7 = 15

...nearly trips over himself trying to attack the brain thing.

Candy stands up weakly. Her voice booms, however, as she calls forth eldritch power, attempting to entrap the brain creature in a web.
I'm not sure exactly how this is supposed to work, but she will try to web the doorway if the creature isn't outside of it. If it's possible to cast around the creature, she will do so in attempts to suffocate it.

Groyn waits for Cande to get her spell off, he then charges at the creature with his battle-axe.
Attack w/ Battle Ax [1d20+2] = 9+2 = 11 Damage [1d8+2] = 7+2 = 9

The Ravenous Gryev does nothing.

Neither does Porphyry.

I will not be able to pull my weight on this one, folks!

Fingal jumps after seeing the walking brain for the first time.

Jeeez! What the hell is that thing, now? Is that what you all have been talking about this whole time? Jeeez!

Fingal is not a brilliant thinker but he wonders if this strange monster might only be able to be taken down with one of these strange weapons found in here. He knows the ray gun that he just shot himself with was pretty effective.

In all the paranoid confusion, he doesn't remember where the thing ended up. If he can see it, he shouts out for it to be used.

Choot it! CHOOT it!

If that person already did something else, he will attempt to retrieve the device from that person and fire it at the brain creature.

Not sure how to roll for that. Here are some random rolls:

[1d20] = 3

Trial and Error [1d10] = 1 [1d10] = 3 [1d10] = 8

[1d100] = 40

Swilbosh snarls with something like pleasure. The Thing has been flushed out, forced into the open. Now came the feasting of blades.

Fingal's prattling stays the lizardman's onslaught. He glances at the bizarre iron crossbow in his scaled claw, and tosses this wizard's toy to Fingal, who had been recklessly dabbling with such strange magicks since they entered this madhouse.

Swilbosh stays his terrible bloodlust, waiting until the missile volley safely clears. Then he'll wade in and try to murder the Thing with his trident. (next round)

Wrenly yells "A Haaaaaaaaaaa!!!" then splays his hands out to the sides. A flurry of missiles fly out of his fingertips in wild corkscrew patterns and, seemingly against all odds, strike the brain thing.

The adventurers tensely await the appearance of the brain monster. When it comes, they are not surprised. But the beast is quick. Steel flashes, spells shoot, weapons fire, but too late as just as quickly as it appears the creature becomes insubstantial and disappears.
- Initiative: Monsters [1d6] = 5, Party [1d6] = 4. The ID wins.
- As some may have deduced, the ID must exit the controlled body in order to attack another (at which point it eats and takes over, sending its own body into the ethereal plane.) Similarly, to retreat it must exit the body to phase back out to ethereal.
-Victims of the ID have Int. 3. If they make a Wisdom check, they can make a simple instinctual action (fight, flight, eat). Language and spell casting aren't possible. (Logically one's Wis. would plummet to 3 too, but I'm doing this mechanic to enable possible action by the character.)

"Confound it!" yells Wrenly as his unerring missiles thud harmlessly into the floor. He shakes his fists in frustration, then suddenly stops and peers intently at the others, looking for any signs of domination...

Fingal begins to look around rather concerned.

I hope you will be able to tell the difference if that thing takes over my mind!

Is there anything we can do to avoid the thing simply following us?

Maybe we should clear out of this area? In case it returns?

I say we head down one of those chutes if everyone is ready to go.

He looks at the more dimwitted members, hoping that they understand what is going on now.

Andover sighs heavily. Here we go again, he thinks.

"None of us are in a condition to venture back out yet. Including you. Fleeing the brain monster will not save us if a handful of those vegetable monsters can kill us in our weakened state. We must resolve this problem before we go searching for more."

Swilbosh, savage lizardman fighter:

And like that, the Thing was hidden again. One of them had just been overcome. But who?

No smile bent his snarling mouth, but his reptile eyes were lit with black laughter. "Well wizzzzardssss? What now?"

There was one way to ensure that he wouldn't fall victim to the Thing. He tried unsuccessfully to find another.
"Musssst we kill itssss hosssst to kill it?"
