Re: Act VI The Tower of Devral
Thanks to the quick action of the others, the freezing thief is plucked from the icy pit, preventing him from taking any more damage.
Blodget looks rather embarrassed as he stares at his rescuers, shivering like a wet little doggie.
The tower is completely quiet again after the commotion. Mira realizes now that the stairway was just an elaborate illusion. The hole in the ceiling is still there and clearly leads up to the next level, but there is no way to reach it without the power of flight or something similar.
The pit is about 10x20 feet and half filled with ice and water. There is nothing more to investigate in this first floor room.

Re: Act VI The Tower of Devral
"Mira, if you would come with me? Morgi too. Shall we investigate further?" the paladin questions leaping into the air and activating his boots once more, bidding Edina & Patsy to stay whilst he is gone, and rising into the tower above.
Greys Campaign.

"Perhaps we should take this opportunity to rest?" Morgi offers
Re: Act VI The Tower of Devral
Xano- Looks aroound the pit. "I'd rather not sleep in a trap friend. Who knows what they could on us."

Mira nods to Halo and follows him up, keeping some distance apart. Not good strategy to stay too close together.

Re: Act VI The Tower of Devral
Halo grabs Trotter and he and Mira float up to the second floor through the hole in the ceiling. From their new vantage point they can now tell that the same size hole is present on all of the floors and that there are at least two more floors above this one.
This room is smaller than the one below as the tower rises in a conical fashion but it is well lit and toasty warm like the first floor. The whole floor is one big empty room and all you see are the outside walls of the glowing icy tower. Suddenly, a melon sized black and silver colored orb appears, hovering in the middle of the room. It slowly floats towards the three of you.
Back on the first floor:
Blodget shivers like a wet dog while he goes through his soaked clothing and possessions, trying to get warm again. He hangs his stuff over the table and chairs to dry. Mr. Wyntar sir, I don't suppose you could magic me up a stiff, warm breeze to speed this up for me, and no mistake?
Morgi forgets about the fact that your mission is extremely time sensitive and suggests a nap. The warm room and comfortable chair are really agreeing with the sleepy druid.
Xano confusingly warns of the dangers of sleeping near traps while Wynter silently stares off into the distance.
Both floors of the tower remain eerily quiet.

Re: Act VI The Tower of Devral
Halo will try and sense of the orb is evil with his paladin second sight.
"be ready," the halfling whispers to his ranger kin.
"We mean no harm here!" the chevalier calls out to the orb.
is there a ledge up here at all in the second tier of the tower?

Re: Act VI The Tower of Devral
A ledge? You mean, like a floor?
Yes. There is a floor. It has a hole in it that you just came through and one in the ceiling directly above it. Like an empty shaft that reaches every floor from base to top.
This is the first floor. The second looks the same but is a little smaller. The stairs are actually just an empty elevator shaft.
The paladin senses no evil from the orb. It looks very similar to the orb that greeted you below except it is half silver and half black in color.

Re: Act VI The Tower of Devral
Mira follows Halo, but puts more distance between them. If the new arrival is hostile, it will have to choose a target. She can't help but hear the urgency in Xano's voice. Something is happening below, She speaks the obvious, but does not abandon her fellows in the reconnoiter.
Re: Act VI The Tower of Devral
Morgi gathers together those remaining on the first floor and asks, "Shall we go up and join the others? There seems to be nothing much down here."

Re: Act VI The Tower of Devral
Halo pulls Trotter up through the ceiling into the third level where the floating pair of halflings see a most beautiful site. In the center of this room stands a life sized griffon that looks to be made of glass.
The walls on this level are as clear as the purest crystal and give a magnificent view across the valley. It has begun to snow outside again and the gently falling snowflakes sparkle in the light givin off by the tower. The hole continues up to another floor above.
Another sphere, this one red and yellow, suddenly floats up out of the floor near the griffon as the pair enters. It begins to slowly float towards them.
Mira stays on the second floor, still straddling her flying wooden shaft. The black and silver sphere floats towards her until it is directly in front of her, where it then hovers harmlessly.
Morgi reconsiders his rest and tries to gather the non flying members together to figure out a way for them to join the others. He is correct in thinking that there is nothing much down there.
Blodget continues to wring out his many things after getting no help from the silent wizard.
Xano was a bit confused but now sees that Wynter is doing just fine.

Re: Act VI The Tower of Devral
Morgi activates his ring and begins ferrying the others to the next level.
Re: Act VI The Tower of Devral
As she was about to follow Halo and Trotter to the next level, Mira is confronted by the Orb. It has chosen. Her unblinking black eyes drill at the sphere with laser intensity. I will assume, She speaks in a low voice, Since you haven't destroyed me, that I have done no grievous error, caused no wrong. I will also assume you will correct me if following my comrades constitutes an offense. At this she begins ascent to trail the Halflings, keeping her gaze upon the Orb.
Re: Act VI The Tower of Devral
Xano- Is confused thinking that Wyntar was under a spell by the Orb. Sorry my Wyntar I you had been Vexxed by the Orb.
