Character Generation
Re: Character Generation
I think I'll bump Thule out of the Fighter role, pure Fighter. Get out of here, NPC! Again, if FronkyDondo is cool with me switching.
Re: Character Generation
well I've gone for single specialise for a single weapon so I should be safe, and only a minor tweak if not

Re: Character Generation
Obviously it is not my call, but from his attitude so far, I would be very surprised if FronkyDondo had a problem with it.barna10 wrote:I think I'll bump Thule out of the Fighter role, pure Fighter. Get out of here, NPC! Again, if FronkyDondo is cool with me switching.
... you should ask for the NPC's stuff.

Re: Character Generation
Ok - we can bump Thule. You can claim his items if you wish - let me know for sure if that is your plan.
For weapon specialization (drum roll):
Pure Fighter (single class): all spec and dbl spec, any # of weapons (per the rules basically).
Ranger/Paladin: single specialization. For now: one melee, one ranged weapon - 2 total. I consider all bows to be the same (I.e., if you spec. In shortbow, it applies to longbow too. Same with crossbow.)
Multi class: *For now* - no specialization. I reserve the right to grant it later (depending on if the party struggles). I am also considering : once the multi class fighter is maxed out (racial levels), then they can.
If we enjoy this campaign, and continue to a harder one, I may open it up.

Re: Character Generation
I am going with a gnome fighter named Elkhorn (was actually my first 2nd edition character back in the day). He's specialized in darts and daggers, and is collecting trophies (hair, blood, claws, etc).

Re: Character Generation

Thanks, everyone!
With barna10 switching to a gnome Fighter, I guess that makes me party Illusionist, but now I get a gnome buddy!
Still putting the final touches on my character, but her name is Fiksilma Kimmontytar, a Cleric/Illusionist with a distinctly eastern Baltic flair.

Re: Character Generation
Awesome everybody! For the gnome ftr, I will let you select a +1 version of your spec. weapon.
Re: Character Generation
Thanks! I will get a +1 dagger. I need to figure out a way to get more darts in the dungeon...FronkyDondo wrote:Awesome everybody! For the gnome ftr, I will let you select a +1 version of your spec. weapon.
Re: Character Generation
Hmmm...we have no Thief! But we do have a Paladin and a Ranger. I misread earlier and thought we had someone playing a Thief (we have 2 NPC Thieves and one on the waitlist now). I'll let the Paladin and the Ranger have the melee glory. I'll play a Thief (primarily, at least). Elkhorn will have to sleep for now...it's OK, I like playing them all, and I've DM'd for many, many years without getting the chance to play! I'll have my Thief posted soon...

Far enough, I shall change my character sheet.FronkyDondo wrote:Ok - we can bump Thule. You can claim his items if you wish - let me know for sure if that is your plan.

Have you decided about elven chain and if it affects an elf's racial surprise?
Re: Character Generation
Keeping the same character...sort of. Originally, Elias Brim broke into a Wizard's tower, was found, and became the Wizard's apprentice.
Through some fluke of fate, a time traveler changed events so the dice rolled differently. Now he successfully hid from the Wizard and escaped with a Bag of Holding, a Ring of Shooting Stars, and a +1 Dagger (the items the DM had given my Thief/Illusionist). He now has an unexplained curiosity about magic and will one day seek tutelage (He'll Dual-Class after level 20 Thief...I'm an optimist)

Aren't darts pretty sturdy things ... closer to a dagger than an arrow in durability?barna10 wrote:Thanks! I will get a +1 dagger. Yes. It's when the creatures run away with them stuck in their sides that it becomes a problem. Not an issue now that I'm switching.atpollard wrote:Aren't darts pretty sturdy things ... closer to a dagger than an arrow in durability?barna10 wrote:Thanks! I will get a +1 dagger. Re: Character Generation
Just a couple more questions as I round out my character:
10% XP modifiers: I'm assuming they don't count regarding our initial XP totals, yes?
2-for-1 Ability Switching: Is this unlimited, or only toward Prime Requisites, or only a number of times, or what?

Re: Character Generation
not sure if i was supposed to but made the specialized weapon a +1 in inventory. That being wasn't sure since I am a waitlister/NPC.

Any chance of getting a Mighty Short Bow? One with a +2 Damage modifier?

Re: Character Generation
You just get the flat amount of XP - no modifications for bonus (nice try:) )Starbeard wrote:Just a couple more questions as I round out my character:

You can do it as much as you like - I know there originally was a rule about not allowing Cha/Con adjustments, but I'll allow it.

Re: Character Generation
Per the DM's guide, you can opt for range weapons that allow you to use your strength bonus for damage. Originally it would have cost more, but again, these characters would have accrued enough money to afford such a thing.barna10 wrote:Any chance of getting a Mighty Short Bow?
