Re: Northern Dangers, Summer 669

Do we stick together under cover of Morwen's illusions? Earnan is happy with that. He'll also use his Beast Friend abilities to impress on the horses that they should move as quietly as they are able. They will still not be exceptionally stealthy but hopefully it will help if they at least understa...

Re: Northern Dangers, Summer 669

"So long as we return before nightfall," Earnan replies, "the horses will be safe enough from orcs. And the dogs should keep them safe enough from beasts."

Re: Northern Dangers, Summer 669

I hadn't appreciated the fog and that the terrain would give cover. That's alright then. We have 4 horses and I don't believe we have enough mage power to make 4 creatures invisible? Does Morwen have any ability that could hide or disguise multiple horses? Failing than, any mileage in creating a si...

Re: Northern Dangers, Summer 669

Could we simply sneak past? With our combined mage power we can make at least 3 people of our 6 invisible (if we're willing to invest that much magic) and at least 2 more don't need any help to sneak past. That leaves 1 unaccounted for. And if we tried that we probably wouldn't be able to bring Dra...

Re: Northern Dangers, Summer 669

"I can conceal myself, or one of you, with magic," says Earnan, "but I cannot look or sound like an orc. Perhaps they might be fooled if one or two of us are able to creep into one camp and cause some mischief, laying a false trail that leads back to the other?"

Re: Northern Dangers, Summer 669

Earnan toys with an arrow, but at last reluctantly agrees, "We are few, and our purpose is not to risk all in battle. But should we see a smaller band, well within our measure, I mean not to stay my bow: every orc we can hunt down is to the good."

Re: Northern Dangers, Summer 669

Earnan is more than willing to hunt orcs, and a small band, travelling light and stealthily, is far more to his strengths than the alternative. He joins the expedition to the west.

Re: The Margrave's Council (Summer 669)

Earnan stays in Borderton while the army musters. There is plenty to see in the town and no shortage of people to talk to, or watch.

Re: Discussion (out of character thread)

CarrieVS , I'm not sure what you mean by a "closed question", can you expand on that? Closed questions have a defined answer, like "do you do X or Y?" as opposed to open questions where the answer is whatever you can think of. Closed questions are generally a lot easier and quic...

Re: Discussion (out of character thread)

I think it's been balanced fine so far, I'm just afraid of it scaling into higher-level organisation, instead of higher-level monsters. I'd say, for me, a good balance would be: At least half of our adventures are on more or less an adventuring-party scale (or at least we are acting as an adventurin...

Re: Discussion (out of character thread)

I just want to clarify that it's not so much larger-scale battles that I'm not keen on, so much as the looming threat that the game's focus is going to become more about administering a region than having adventures.

Re: The Margrave's Council (Summer 669)

"An evil mage, or something, drove the orcs and bandits last time. What do we know of the woods to the east of the High Road, and what do we need to deal with there?" Earnan has a little more to say on this point. " Aedaen and his friends will have both more recent and extensive info...

Re: The Margrave's Council (Summer 669)

Re: Summer 669

Everyone could use the Ring of Protection. Maybe Earnan could use the Wand of Magic Detection? Everyone could use the ring of protection, but a front-liner would probably get the most bang for the buck. Earnan would probably get as much use out of the wand as anyone, but I hope I’m not taking more ...

Re: Summer 669

On the way to Borderton, Ji-ho's relief force naturally pass Ravenswell, where the mages are still elbows-deep in research on the items recovered from the dragon. "As happy as I would be to hunt yrch with you," Earnan says, with unaccustomed force, "it shall have to be another time. M...

Re: Discussion (out of character thread)

You can easily build a Level 3 Workshop by spending the difference after Darfilla's contribution. 6289p covers that. It will take 9 weeks to build and stock the workshop. This will have it just finished in time for Autumn so you'll be able to use it for 3rd level magic then. You can use it while it...

Re: Discussion (out of character thread)

This is why JJh never has a lot of money. :) Which is also why I'm in desperate search of money pits for Earnan to fill up with all the money that he has no actual need to spend, so I can keep up with you in XP :D As for the workshop, Darfilla's welcome to contribute the amount of her obligation, a...
