Need beta testers for the new dice roller

#1 Post by ToniXX »

The new dice roller is almost to beta stage, and I need a few people to test it thoroughly.
Obviously, you must be someone who uses it a lot, and preferably you also use the character sheet feature.
I'll be setting it up at a temporary address in a week or so. Please write here if you want to beta test and I'll keep you posted when it's ready.
Thanks!

i can test whenever you need it. But is that why the current roller is giving 500 internal server errors when a roll is made?

Thank you... but no, that's now why it was erroring (it's working now). Someone abused the roll stats feature (which will be GONE in the next version) and used up all the random numbers for today.

I am probably the only one but I never liked the roll stats feature.

You're hardly the only one. Believe me.

Only three.
This is a game about killing things and taking their stuff so you can become more powerful in order to kill bigger things and take even better stuff.
Alethan: I'm good with NOT pressing our luck this time.
mjulius: That's how I know I'm home.
Pulpatoon: The whole point of PbP is to take the scheduling pressure off the game. We're just chatty because we're so eager!
Scott308: ...everyone should be reminded of just how wonderful the people they play games with here can be in real life.
Leitz: Quality and quantity wise, I think US is the best I've seen.
Paladin: I can promise terror, glory, and riches...or a quick and brutal death.
Inferno: Come on! That's was Vicar's Head, a completely different doomed village!
Rex: I can move to the wait list to let someone else into the game.

Yes I rather think all of the DM/GMs on here dislike it as based on my experience most all of us say clearly DO NOT USE the Stat roller create the following macro to roll for stats. And we usually list whatever method we use even if it is one of the stat roller options. The macros we can track whereas the stat roller builtin does not show all rolled stats that were rejected (last I checked) it only shows what the player finally selected.

I quite like the random roll stats feature and the ability for my players to 'nay' any rolls which generate an unplayable character. Let's face it, how many if us would go forward with a 3,4,5,6,7,8?

The offset to players generating characters with multiple bonus +1, +2's & +3''s is just to up the challenge of creatures and traps they face.

I think it us better to start with players creating characters for the concepts they have in mind. Inevitably you can create Fred the Ranger and roll stats for him but delete the character abd create a new one if your stats are not playable anyway.

In 5th ed D&D you have a points buy option and pre determined stat array which a DM can implement anyway.

This is getting off topic.

The stat generator won't be there in the next version of the roller.
