Tracks In The Desert
Re: Tracks In The Desert
Xenos
I've added the amulet to Xenos's character sheet. If anyone has an objection then say.
Xenos places the amulet around his neck and concentrates, trying to change his appearance just enough to look similar to himself but slightly different, so that he might be mistaken for himself at a further distance but when someone gets close it will be obvious they made a mistake.
"Did it work?" he asks the others
OM, hopefully I've explained what I'm trying to do clearly enough?

I don't have any objections to Xenos taking the amulet.

I've removed the wand from my sheet and still have the second amulet...I think we're set now.

Akhilleus has the ioun stones. That's already a lot. Don't have any problem with you guys diving up the rest of the treasure.
Regarding memorising spells other than healing, I understand completley. I wouldn't like to have a cleric type that only heals.

Re: Tracks In The Desert
Xambaala
Mid Afternoon
The four comrades in arms decide to slake their intense desert thirst at The Last Plank, a dockside tavern they have patronized before. As they enter the Inner City limits, they discuss who should take what from their impressive spoils, splitting up treasure as any good adventuring party might.
Xenos uses the Amulet he took to try to disguise himself.......as himself. When the others look at him, he does indeed look a little bit different than he did a few seconds ago.
A sudden strange feeling of being followed or watched somehow starts to creep into the minds of all four men as they make their way deeper into the city towards their favorite drinking hole.
Can everyone give me a d20 roll please?
Actions?
Drest AC:7 13/16
Xenos AC:6 12/12 1st:2/2
Akhilleus AC:4 32/32 (2 Ioun stones)
Cyril AC:8 5/5 1st:1/3

Cyril muses, "I vaguely remember a time when I stood near this spot and watched the locals all day. Nobody else does that, I'm sure."

Xambaala
Mid Afternoon
As they make their way through town, Drest, Akhilleus, and eventually Xenos all start to notice something strange. Each time they look behind them, they see the same person, causing them to think they are likely being followed. Bringing this attention to Cyril as well, the group start to test their theory out on their unsuspecting tail.
Walking behind buildings and suddenly stopping to peer behind them momentarily before heading off again, the group becomes certain that a rather large and brutal looking Esquimaux-Ixian is currently on their trail. Though he looks similar to the men you saw out in the desert earlier, this man is huge, far larger than the other native slaves you have seen so far around Xambaala. And what might be even more disturbing, is that he is armed with a large ax and covered in armor and other gear.
The figure makes no moves to stop the foursome along their way, possibly interested in seeing where they end up before making any moves of his own.

Xenos
"Why don't we try and lure him into a dead-end street and see what he wants. I'll try and think of somewhere suitable, follow my lead."
Hoping the street layout hasn't changed too much since his years as a messenger and link-boy (and more recent escapades before he left for Port Zangerios), he tries to recall a route that might eventually take them down a dead-end street where they can trap the man.

Akhilleus
"Good idea." Mutters the warrior while laying his hand on his sword pommel.
He tries to act casual, as if the gesture was something he usually does.

Cyril
"Or alternatively we could just ask him out here where there are plenty of onlookers...I guess that is not as fun though. I will let one of you get close to him. He looks like he would be a bit much for me. I will however do my best to look menacing. Lead the way, Xenos."

Xambaala
Mid Afternoon
The foursome whisper their plan while Xenos leads them into an area where the buildings are close and tight, with a dead end street right in front of them. Cyril seems concerned about the idea, but follows along anyway.
When they look behind them one last time, the huge Xambaala native is still approaching from behind them, at this point seemingly unconcerned if he is seen or not.
At the termination of this back street, Drest hides between two buildings as the others turn around to confront this newcomer. The Esquimaux-Ixian stops as well, looking straight at Xenos but remaining silent until spoken to. Cyril has to strain his neck to get a good look at the face of the huge figure, who reminds the priest a lot of Snorri the Viking who used to accompany the group before he fell.
The 4 men have an urban desert stand-off, right there in the back streets of the Inner City, wondering silently who will speak first.

Re: Tracks In The Desert
Cyril cranes his neck to see around the others. "Hello there. I'm Cyril, mostly loyal acolyte of Azathoth and not as crazy as you might think. You remind me of a man I once knew...And so direct in your approach...Was there something you needed from us?"
He glances at the dead end behind him and whispers to the others, "To be clear, we intended to wind up in a dead end ally with the exit blocked by a burly warrior, right?"

Xenos
As Cyril speaks to the man, Xenos looks for any sign of comprehension from him.
After Cyril finishes whispering, he whispers back
"We can look after ourselves. It's likely he may not understand common, the others didn't."
He looks right at the man and speaks in Ixian
"Hello, friend, is there something we can do for you?"

Re: Tracks In The Desert
The large Esquimaux-Ixian approaches Xenos, glaring, scanning the man's eyes to size up his intentions.
As Cyril speaks, Sik looks at him from the corner of his eye, but otherwise only acknowledges him with a hand held up to say "stop."
"You, Ixian. Tell me from where you come, and what business you have with the People of Ktulu," he speaks in Esquimaux-Ixian.
