Sorry, guys. Had my parents in over the weekend...
Chauncey makes no outward sudden movement as Allissa falls other than a twitching in his left eye as he mentally scans back and forth again and again through his mental spell list, looking for a simple spell to avert this disaster. He finds nothing. A jolt goes through him as her body strikes the ground. "I really should... research... a spell that..." he murmurs to himself, trailing off.

He finds, for once, he has nothing more to say. As Wesley reminds him of the book they found, he perks up, though his features remain stricken. Yes, Wesley. Wesley can handle this one...

Moving over to her crushed remains, the wizard picks up a single one of Allissa's pinkies between thumb and index finger and begins making his way to the rafts.

Anyone Else Dropping In?
Waterday, 3rd of Harvester
Early Morning, Humid, Warm, Misty

Daisy uncharacteristically melts down at the sight of the gruesome deaths, sobbing softly until Wake helps her back to her feet again.

Remembering the ancient magical book they found earlier, Wes shouts for people to gather up as much of the dead as they can, grabbing some baskets and getting aid from several others with this rather unpleasant task. If they can salvage enough of their bodies, the druid just might be able to bring them back.

Unfazed by the demon overhead screaming about certain gems she seeks, Chauncey takes the sudden deaths of his friends fairly well, all things considered.

Arbitrarily vouching for her character, Darklin wonders if Allissa had anything valuable left on her when she fell. But when he and Chauncey rush to the edge of the roaring waterfall, they no longer see any sign of the dead elf. The blood and guts splattered on the rocks appears to have already been washed away due to the mist and constant splashing of falling water from above. After poking around in the tumultuous waters filling the pool, neither of them is able to find her remains or any of her possessions.

Amun and Yrias get a couple of the waterlogged bamboo rafts pushed into the water, both of them ready to depart this area before anyone else drops in on them.

After collecting as much of the ranger as possible, and a quick discussion about the theory of Reincarnation, the group is ready to depart. Nothing more is heard or seen from above, but a booming draconic voice echoes from out of the misty falling water of the falls.

"LEAVING SO SOON? I THOUGHT WE HAD AN AGREEMENT!"

Amun, now seemingly both stressed up and angry at her friends.

"Deal?! What deal did you make with the dragon?! Leave me out of this."

Unfortunately, Amun has no idea that the party received gifts and that TK's shortsword is a gift (which I suppose it is), otherwise she would have dumped it.

Wake

Wake does not draw a weapon but and replies in a normal voice not yelling but certainly NOT whispering in the direction of the loud statement, "No, you had a deal with Allissa and you were so callous with her life she is was killed. If you think we have an agreement, spell it out - but I am not guessing what you think and I am NOT your pawn today Mighty Dragon."

Daisy
Daisy is getting some of her color and her spirit back. Ah'll give you the ring back, if ya'll want, but Ah'll have to owe you for the potion.
She does not, however, make any move to remove the ring.

Grimm stays put and hyperventilates for a couple seconds. He's seen the dragon himself once a couple of weeks ago. He doesn't say anything, other than back away from Wake too.

Elnaerel "We can't face this demon in our current state. Three of our companions have died in the most gruesome way. We need to go back and get healed. We can give you back the objects you so generously bestowed on us, Mighty Dragon, and carry on with our mission later on, once we have reassessed our situation. But asking this of us now is too much.

We want to end her and help you and the Indijuns. But we need time to rest, think and reorganise.

Will you grant us this respite?"

Yrias is getting the rafts ready, but starts when hearing the voice of the dragon.

Chauncey also edges away from Wake as best he can.

Having not been part of the original discussions with the dragon, he keeps quiet for the moment and waits to see how this will play out, all the while thinking a dragon would have been useful in the previous struggle...

Maag

Maag is usually the first to mock a stupid idea. However, he decides to make an exception for a pissed off dragon and decides to keep his mouth shut.

Wes

Wes was also about to point out the deaths, the injuries and the fact that the group would fare better with all it's spell casters fully rested. But then another point occurs to him.

"Noble dragon, obviously you are concerned that we are slinking away, with no intention of facing this demon again. However, I can assure you that is not the case. Even if we hadn't made a pact with you by accepting your aid, we're also motivated by revenge for our friends who died here today".

"There's also one other simple motivation for all of us: survival. MommaPamma is certainly going to kill us. She's just said as much. We have to get her before she gets us."

"A rest would give us a much better chance of getting her. We won't make the same mistakes a second time."

"You know where we will be. There's no way we can hide. Please allow us this favor".

Thats Hot
Waterday, 3rd of Harvester
Early Morning, Humid, Warm, Misty

Initially, this unseen voice from the mist seems aggravated and insulted by the perceived tone of Wake’s comments. A thin spout of steaming, superheated water shoots out from the swirling cloud of vapors floating at the base of the falls, hitting the cleric standing at the riverbank squarely in his chest. The water is hot enough to be quite painful on bare skin, causing major scalding anywhere it touches. 6 dam (I would take a Save vs. Breath for half)

By the time the others have finished their own comments, including a bit more of the groveling that great wyrms seem to crave, the hot spout of water eventually stops.

“Killed, eh? I see you’ve learned nothing from your past experiences.”

“Your attempt to put an end to this evil has failed. Badly. And now you are weaker because of it. And you have no idea where or when they will strike out at you next. Because believe me, they will. While you speak of rest and recuperation, they are already planning their next moves. Pawns indeed.”

“I see now that, despite the items I have given you, it was not enough. Though, I am impressed that you are willing to continue the task, regardless of what happened here.”

“Tell me then……What will you do now? After you go back to rest. How do you intend to locate this demon and her bastard son again?”

Daisy
Daisy opens her mouth to speak, then stops and forces herself to hear the words. We don't know. We need time to recover before we can plan a new assault.

Darklin
Looks around waiting for someone to speak up. Then blurts out:

She is drawn to the "Gems", if we keep those hidden she will come to us. But this time we chose the when and where of the fight. Our own prepared grounds. This time with defensive structures and traps that we know about. So there are no surprises.

Wake

Wake nearly gets out of the way, but he does not and takes the full blow. Previously, he had made sure he was carrying the mace in a non-offensive way but after the attack he just drops the magical mace at his feet, falls to his knees and begins to pray to Phyton for guidance.

Amun just stays silent and observes for now, not wanting to accidentally say something that might later turn out to have been interpreted as "an agreement".

Grimm tries to muffle a belch. Better not to attract any attention his way. He remains still and quiet.

Elnaerel looks at her companions at first, showing her uncertainty. It looks like she got herself into a dialog with the dragon, so she'll try to make her best now that there's no going back. "Lord of the Mists, your words let us now understand the dire situation we are in. It does not matter if we go back to our town and rest, this demon will haunt us.

But we are at a great disadvantage. We do not know where to search for them. We do not know this island well enough. They can hide whenever they want, surely a place unknown to us...

Exploring this island, perhaps I'm scattered gross, might be our best options, for starters.

Maybe you, Mighty Dragon, can guide us with your wise advice."
She flatters the dragon like she's heard heroes do in most stories.

Yrias remains silent, still in awe at what he's seeing.

Wes

Wes nods, slowly. "I like the sound of that. But where could we make our stand? At Clifftown we'd just be putting everyone in danger. What about Beachtown? There's nothing there now, but plenty of debris to build things."

Maag

"Wot about der temple?" Maag says, looking up from pissing off the edge of the raft. "Der are plenty of strong walls. She will not be able to get us from long range, or see wot we 'ave got waitin' for 'er."

"Der is der problem of der dead stuff in der basement, but I reckon yer will be able to 'andle dem wiv no problem. I 'ave got der utmost confidence in der lot of yer".
Maag give a little hip wiggle, adjusts his trousers, rubs his hands together and turns around. He grins.

"Anybody fancy an' armwrestle?"

Darklin

I was thinking more along the lines of downtown Stonegutville. Get a little unfriendly help from the Dwarves. Maybe kill a few of them off too. He shrugs his shoulders. Just a thought.
