Re: The Grand Tournament (Scenario 0)
Okay, I'm a little confused.
Conweena is still in the competition for the next round (unless she wishes to withdraw). I thought Dorath did withdraw, but if he wishes to rejoin the competition, that's fine also.
Let me know.

Re: The Grand Tournament (Scenario 0)
no, I got turned around. I thought that the combat was being reset with full teams. Dorath is happy to remain on the sidelines and sip on mint-water.
Re: The Grand Tournament (Scenario 0)
I thought she lost and was out, sorry got confused I guess.

I'm still awaiting initiative rolls and actions from one player, but I'm going to be posting actions tomorrow.

Re: The Grand Tournament (Scenario 0)
Once again all the combatants line up. The Duke's champions have won two rounds, with one round considered a tie. They know they can eliminate you in the next round. Your victory depends on prevailing these two rounds, and then overcoming them in an additional tie-breaking round.
After you have prepared, and taken your places at the ring, the signal to begin is sounded.
The round begins and both Pebble and Dextel is the first to charge the field of combat, followed closely by Scott, Conwenna, and then the other combatants. Many strikes are tried, but the challengers have started to learn the techniques the champions use, and none of their attacks land.
Conwenna, however, finally prevails against Klarven, Locking his weapon with hers, and drawing him in for a counter blow he could not evade. Savoring her victory for later, Conwenna is free to engage another opponent. Klarvan smiles at you in his defeat, and withdraws from the field so as not to interfere with ongoing actions.
The crowds looking on are excited at the prospect. It may be that the champions have finally found a worthy team of challengers!
Roll for initiative and attack, everyone.
Rex, you are free to choose a new target, and your attack will probably land late in the next round as you will have to both move and strike. Please let me know who your new target will be (numbers are best)

Re: The Grand Tournament (Scenario 0)
Dorath joins in the cheering and takes note of Harker's form.
Re: The Grand Tournament (Scenario 0)
Pebble continues his vicious onslaught against Scott, but it's in vain, for Scott sees a quick lack of guard in Pebble's position, and takes advantage, laying him out with a cut that would have removed a hand were these real weapons. To his credit though, Pebble's technique was valid, and he also scores a hit under Scott's arm, removing him from the competition as well.
Conwenna wisely runs instead towards Igber and Keith, to aid her small friend as he stealthily dodges the padded head of the war hammer Keith continues to fan Igber with, unable to land a mark.
Late in the round Dextel also lands a good strike on Harker, but Harker sees an opening in the same instant, and also lands a mark on Dextel. The disconcerting clunking of their wooden blades falls silent as they both find themselves in the position of being impaled on the others weapon were they wielding deadly steel.
Scott finally realizes he now has two opponents, and pivots to keep both Conwenna and Igber where he can strike at either of them, but Conwenna is unable to land a strike, as she is off-balance from the sprint towards Igber.
This round is finally down to three contestants: Conwenna and Igber against Scott. Will Scott be able to eliminate them both single handed, or will Conwenna and Igber find a complimentary strategy to overcome the Dukes Guard?
The crowds are on their feet, and the sound of their cheers and jeers is deafening. The clock is ticking, and the odds are heavily against Scott. Unless Scott can eliminate both challengers, the champions will lose the round. Victory for the challengers is suddenly a possibility !
I want to post this right away. The map will be added momentarily. Congratulations to everyone for making this an exciting round.
I also wanted to reiterate, for emphasis, you have the chance to win this round if you can simply avoid getting hit, but 'running away' would be considered cowardly and unsportsmanlike.
Also, for Snarkdogg, please post in Jousting and Swords Competitions topic, Thank you

Re: The Grand Tournament (Scenario 0)
As Keith turns to face his new opponent, Igber takes the opportunity to retreat from the battle, quickly leaping away from any potential danger, but leaving Conwenna to deal with the final champion. The reaction from the crowds of spectators is palpable, as a wave of howls and catcalls erupts, easily drowning out the combat in the arena.
Together they exchange blows, but Igber remains at a distance, forfeiting any potential opening that Keith may allow as he deals with Conwenna.
Finally after what seems an eternity for Conwenna, the timekeeper sounds the end of the round... but it's not the end.
As Conwenna disengages at the sound of the gong, Keith calls for the judge, who is already marching towards him & Conwenna, whom he calls back to meet with Keith. Some kind of discussion takes place, and Conwenna makes violent and expressive gestures, apparently having some disagreement with the judge. The crowds, unsure of what to make of the spectacle, quiet for a few moments, before they come to their own conclusions and start a series of catcalls berating the situation.
Conwenna's actions calm quickly, as Keith reaches out a hand towards her gently, then motions with the other hand at Igber dismissively. Conwenna and the judge begin nodding, and the group splits. Keith heads towards the other champions, Conwenna and the judge approach the challenging team together.
"It has been decided"; begins the judge facing Igber alone "...that your ignoble deeds are unacceptable. You are hereby disqualified from further competition. You would flee danger and allow your companions to fall on the blades of a less civil enemy! May Paldon purify your soul of this foul cowardice!" The judge turns and proceeds back to the ring, where he makes another announcement for the spectators.
"Because of her valiant actions in the face of a cowardly ally, Keith has conceded victory in this round to Conwenna!" At this the catcalls turn to audacious cheers, though some insults continue to be directed at Igber.
We now have two rounds of victory for the champions, and one victory for the challengers, credit to Conwenna for being steadfast. One round remains, but because of Igber's actions, you will begin the round shorthanded. If, however, the three remaining challengers, Conwenna, Harker and Pebble can gain a victory, then the match will go into a 6th round to decide a victor.
