Quest #34 "The Search For The Ruined Tower”
Re: Quest #34 "The Search For The Ruined Tower”
Amun watches the box of plaques with great interest, while picking her teeth with a twig. She clears her throat and addresses Feanol
"Amun would like to pick one of your plaques, if you will allow it."
She waits patiently for an answer.

Elnaerel
"No! Don't do anything like that! At least not now. When we come back, those of you who want to play with that strange thing, do it by yourselves in an isolated place. I don't want innocents to suffer the consequences just because you happened to do it next to them. We don't know what that thing does but I have to remember you that it was in the treasure of an evil spectre and they probably match the carvings on the floor of the tower. Remember that one of them transported you to that ghost and two of our companions died because of it."
She looks at the pirate now. "So, what happened to you? You drew one and now you feel weird? Is it your head?" She examines his head but can't see anything. "I'm afraid it's beyond my knowledge. I could try calling upon Ehlenestra's power and heal you, like I so with the wounded, but I don't think it will do anything... Besides, I won't be able to do it until tomorrow. I'm sorry." She still sounds stern despite her last sentence.

The Knife
"Hello! Will whoever is carrying this sack please put me down!", The Knife calls out anxiously. "I'm about to throw up!"
Once he's on the ground, he tears open the rest of the sack and peers down to see what's in the sack with him.

Darklin
Sits and exercises his muscles trying to work the soreness out.
What happened to TK. He bolted and didn't even help when the wasps riders showed up. Next time some one who can fight needs to stay with the ground crew. We probably shouldn't split up anymore that was a bad idea. Strength in numbers for sure.

I think I need to make a quick DM cat wrangle here. Please don't get angered by my sudden intrusion, I just feel a strong need to consolidate some unnecessary wheel spinning.
Returning To Beachtown
Sunday, 28th of Goodmonth
Early Afternoon, Sunny, Hot, Breezy
Glad to see the monster fly away, Amun remembers seeing a few of these large figures flying over the marsh on her several day explorations before meeting up with the group. Again the warrior woman asks about the magic plaques, and again she is warned about waiting till they are in a safe place to draw, like possibly when they get back to Beachtown.
Contemplating when to resume their trek across the hot rocky cliffs, their fate seems to be suddenly handed to them when the flying beast returns from the east. It flies down towards the surface of the marsh and grabs up one of the dead tasloi that crashed earlier. It takes the little monster up a good ways before simply releasing the body to fall to the cliffs with a loud and messy splat.
The urge to move again suddenly dominating the conversation, the party gears up and heads out quickly. Once they realize that the flying beast is directly on their tails, they pick up the pace, eventually spotting another group on the cliffs heading straight for them. After waving and shouting for them to flee, they also turn and rush back the way they came from. Oddly, the monster keeps chasing you, but never actually attacks. If you didn't know any better, it almost seems that they are merely trying to keep you away from the marshland, since they didn't have any problem with you or others walking the cliffs before. Eventually you catch up with the others and together you all head back into the makings of a brand new settlement being built east of the river.

Please feel free to go about any business you would like to take care of while I get some XP rewards figured out for this mission. I think it will be safe to bet that everyone leveled up, since this mission was WAY beyond your skill level.
Stand by for those rewards.

Are we posting here or some other thread?

Great question!
If you are posting something relevant to this mission, continue posting that stuff right here.
If you are looking for something to do next, or simply milling about town, the Clifftown thread is where you will want to post. viewtopic.php?f=446&t=11222
Thanks for asking!

Re: Quest #34 "The Search For The Ruined Tower”
Did we ever designate a leader for this group?
I want to think it was Keg for some reason, but I don't think he was around at the beginning, so I didn't want to slight anyone.
The search function seems to be a little fussy now, so does anyone actually remember?

Never mind!
It was actually Max....

Re: Quest #34 "The Search For The Ruined Tower”
Yes it was. He was the best kind of leader: one that dies and leaves all of his XP to be divvied up between everyone else.
He'll be fondly remembered.

Speaking of XP rewards: viewtopic.php?p=572488#p572488
I think at least one PC can gain more than one level with this total, but since I don't allow that, just list the amount total and add the one level.

Re: Quest #34 "The Search For The Ruined Tower”
If you gained more than you need to go up to your next level, just keep that total on your sheet and only advance the one level.
Once you complete your next mission, those XP will then come into play and can be used when you gain enough to go up again.

Huzzah! Killer job, everybody. Literally.
I just realized Keyon only needed 48xp to get to level 2. Damn. I will make note of what remains!
Got lucky rolling his hit die this time.

Re: Quest #34 "The Search For The Ruined Tower”
Elnaerel was at level 1 and now she's 496 short of XP for level 4 but until she completes her next mission, she won't be able to level up to level 3, despite the excess XP.
Does going to buy a basket full of apples for the townies constitute a quest?

Bonnie/Allissa had the same issue, then gained enough xp during her next mission to overlevel again. I think she's finally at her proper level.

Re: Quest #34 "The Search For The Ruined Tower”
PC's are not allowed to advance more than one level at a time.
If you have enough XP to gain more than one level, it cant be used until after your next mission is complete, when you will obviously level up again.
