Pirate Bandit 5 – Human (AC:7 , HD: 1)
Pirate-Bandit 5 Init [1d10] = 1
Pirate-Bandit 5 not quite so bad off as his partner, turns back toward the Lizardman, arrow still protruding from his shoulder, and attempts another jab with his shortsword while mumbling obscenities about filthy creatures, and some other incoherent stuff.
Shortsword [1d20-2] = 7-2 = 5, Dmg [1d6-2] = 3-2 = 1
Pirate Bandit 7 – Human (AC: 9, HD: 1)
Pirate-Bandit 7 Init [1d10] = 3
Pirate-Bandit 7 gurgles up blood while attempting to crawl across the floor, in a random direction, as the light in his eyes begins to fade quickly.

Caiden Init [1d10] = 2, Arrow 1 [1d20+3] = 17+3 = 20, Dmg [1d4+1] = 3+1 = 4

Lyaera Init [1d10] = 3
Kel Init [1d10] = 4
Pirate-Bandit 4 Init [1d10] = 3
Chaos envelops the Pirate-Bandits as the party sets upon them like a starving pack of hyenas on a wounded gazelle. Pirate-Bandit 5, with an aching arrow in his shoulder, lunges at Zirus. The searing pain prevents the bandit from accomplishing much more than a wobble at best, leaving Zirus wide open to club him with his snake sceptre.
Meanwhile, Caiden and Lyaera fire arrows at the escaping Pirate-Bandit 4, while Pirate-Bandit 7 crawls a few feet across the floor nearby. 2 arrows pierce the back of Pirate-Bandit 4, killing him instantly. His body falls mid-stride and skids to a stop.
Kel and Zirus turn simultaneously and swing at Pirate bandit 4. The resulting clash of scepter and axe knock the bandit first one way then another. His body falls limp and lifeless to the floor.
Rakjak weasels in among his teammates and sets upon the legs of Pirate-Bandit 7 with his handaxe while barking a heinous dog-laughter. The Bandit dies quickly from massive blood loss and shock.
With a bloody carnage of Human Pirate-Bandit bodies now littering the floor, a silence ensues, leaving nothing but the sound of ocean waves coming from the rift at the end of the tunnel. According to Esilia’s initial report, there may be more Bandits at large.

Caiden puts his bow back on his back, he approaches the slaves, "Take what you want from their bodies, I would think you deserve some compensation for the hell they put you through"
He then goes to Gavin, "Where should we head now?"

Bartrane steps up and puts their fears to rest, “Eet is aright. Go ahead, arm yeselves. Ye may yet have to fight fo ye freedom. Go on now.”
The young male Elf, Slave 2, is first to act, needing no other encouragement. The other Slaves give a quick look to one another then set upon the dead Pirate-Bandits, stripping what they can and arming themselves for what may come next; taking knives, swords for those that can wield them, and bits of armor to cover the vital parts.
Slave 5, the young female Human, arms herself with a knife and a whip, and takes a light leather chest piece from one of the smaller Pirate-Bandits. After wiping it of blood and grime, the fit seems nearly perfect, except in the chest area, which seems a bit tight, but she doesn’t seem to mind. She edges up to Caiden, bows and kisses his hand. With a broad smile, saying nothing at all, she stands by his side waiting for further instruction. She seems to find something intriguing about him, though she isn’t quite sure what. She will stick by him, for now.

NPC Post: Gavin Moorehouse – Human
Gavin turns to Caiden. "Let us check the temple to make certain there are no surprises left in there. Rakjak, Zirus, Kel, stand watch while we clear the temple. Lyaera, help the slaves if they need it, and keep them safe. I am entrusting that task to you, mind that it is done, or the consequences will be on your conscious." Gavin's words seem harsh as they part his lips, but they are merely a reflection of his fears for his own son, who is now in enemy hands. With a grimace he moves with purpose toward the temple entrance, Caiden at his side.

Re: In Gods We Trust
Caiden is perplexed at the female elf's sudden gesture and doesn't know what she means by it exactly, he rubs his head not sure how to response so he just smiles, "You're free now to do as you wish".
He nods to Gavin, "Very well", and walks beside him. He checks to see if the female elf is still following him and he just gives her a faint smile.

Location: Undercity Bottom Level – Ancient Temple

As Caiden and Gavin head into the temple to clear the area, the female (Slave 5) trailing along behind Caiden with a silly smile on her face, and Lyaera helps gather weapons and armor, a low rumble begins to issue from the surrounding stone. Loose bits of stone and dust begin to fall, cascading down in small motes. The tremor quickly develops in to a full-fledged quake. Large chunks of stone crash to the floor. The scaffolding on the east side is crushed beneath a pile of stone from the ceiling, parts of the temple roof collapse inward smashing the large golden statue within. It crashes to the floor of the temple with a dull clang and is quickly crushed beneath a pile of grey stone. Small bits of soft volcanic stone come crashing down from the freshly mined ceiling, pelting the floor everywhere. Underneath the roof of the temple entrance provides no better cover, as the roof begins to cave in from the weight above, dropping bits of stone and quarried bricks from ages past down upon any who don’t scurry fast enough.
The cracking of stone, followed by loud splashes, echoes in from the tunnel entrance at the rift. The crashes seem to get louder and louder, followed by the splitting crack of wood and snap of rope. Water rushes into and down the tunnel, wetting any who fell to the floor. The water subsides as quickly as it came, though large puddles, filled with volcanic grey dust, form piles of sludge everywhere, making the floor very slippery.
Any who fail a DEX-DC 15 are thrown to the ground; those who fail a DEX-DC 12 are hit by falling debris and suffer 1d6 in damage. Rolling lower than the DC is a failure. See rolls below. Rakjak starts throwing off the debris at a frantic pace, intent on getting away from the rocks and into relative safety, he gives off another whine and low growls with every action.

With debris falling every where Caiden couldn't dodge all of them away and it hit him knocking him down, he mumbles to himself, "What the hell was that..?", it takes him a couple of seconds to regain his footing and composure.

"Gavin, the bridge...the bridge, it's gone! A giant hunk of rock fell through it. It's just gone!" She stares at him with an imploring look, as if Gavin can fix everything, and will tell her what to do, how to fix the bridge, how to stop the tremors. She waits for further direction, uncertain what to do, or how to assist.

Summary: Finish It!
Calendar: 9:05 pm - July 10th, 9001
Location: Undercity Bottom Level – Ancient Temple
The suddenness of the quake catches the party by surprise, nocking nearly everyone, except one spry little Elf, to the ground and pelting most with debris. Everyone pics themselves back up and Gavin, impatient to get things underway, immediately marches to the rift to assess the damage Esilia spoke of.
Upon arrival, Gavin finds a pair of Human Pirate-Bandits, in the tunnel on the far side of the rift with torches and long spears, staring back at him. They seem a bit surprised and then depart quickly.
Gavin assesses the situation while he waits for the others. The wooden rope bridge is completely gone, not a trace of it left. In fact, a portion of each ledge, on both tunnel openings, is missing too, several feet from each side. Gavin calls to Esilia, “Esilia! Go up and tell the Grey Mountain Kobolds to assist you in securing a rope to the far side of the rift at their level. We will use the ropes from both sides to traverse the gap. Have three of them drop down on the far side as advance guard on my call.”
Gavin waits for the rest of the party to arrive and informs them of his plan. “The bridge is gone, as you can well see. We need to get across and secure the dock quickly. I do not know if there will be aftershocks, and we do not know what forces they may be gathering on their side. I will explain the quakes once we have secured the dock. The Grey Mountain Kobolds will secure a rope at the upper level on the far side of the rift. We will then use the ropes from both sides, countering one side with the other, to swing across the gap. It will not be easy, but we will manage. Esilia will assist the slaves and the rest of the party above across once we have secured the dock.”
The Kobolds, with Esilia’s help, quickly secure the ropes and descend to the other side to guard while Gavin makes his way across the rift. Once Gavin has crossed, he sends the Kobolds across to the party’s side and back up the cliff to the rest of the party. Once the rest of the party has crossed Gavin speaks, “[dialgo]Kel, you and I will take the lead, rest of you follow behind. Kill anything that opposes us. The time for talking is over.[/dialog]” Gavin dons his helmet, puts his axes and strides down the tunnel with confidence.
The tunnel is well lit, with evenly spaced torches, and runs roughly 90’ to the SW before opening to a large spacious chamber filled with widely spaced massive 7’ diameter white marble pillars that shoot up from the floor and disappearing 30’ above in the volcanic grey stone of the ceiling. The floor is paved with 9’ square marble slabs that run out to a curved sea port with massive marble jutties pointing out to sea. At one of the jutties floats, just above the water, not actually touching the water, a large odd looking ship. From behind two pillars steps a 6’ 3” ugly beast of a Hobgoblin wearing heavy leather armor with heavy bone greaves, bracers, and chest plate fashioned together with heavy metal. He carries a heavy bone mace with 3” spikes made of teeth; a longsword strapped to his belt. He grunts, “You not belong. Go or die!” With a wave of his hand two Human Pirate-Bandits step out with long spears at the ready, and 3 Norkers with small clubs, wearing little other than loincloths and belts, charge out from behind the others with a not-so-mighty war cry “Kill them all!!!, straight at Gavin and Kel.

FYI: the party has time to pilfer the bodies of the Pirate-Bandits at the temple of they so choose. It will take a few rounds to get the ropes set up at the rift. Just add any of those actions to your next post before you engage the next setoff bandits

The Pirate-Bandits have built three small fires and have torches lighting up the entire area.
