Also, by a "clear shot," I meant that there were only open squares between me and my target. The map changes, sometimes mid-round with everyone moving around. So I was just waiting for an empty path to emerge. Sorry I was unclear.
What are the rules for firing into a melee, and the odds of accidentally hitting a friend? Thanks.
Firing into melee is by the book: if you fire a missile weapon into melee, whether you hit a friend or foe will be determined by the number and sizes of each. Basically, there's no safe way to fire a missile into melee. There's always a chance you hit an ally. That's true regardless of whether the space between you and the melee is clear or not.
