Re: VII. The Lost City
Bingus casts Hold Portal on the door facing north, all too aware that there's another to the west. But at least this will give the group a few more seconds to orient themselves for an attack from that direction.
Bingus points to his eyes and the west door, indicating he will watch that door. He makes a motion as if drawing a bow and points to the area from which the metal clinking is coming. He doesn't want to wake the bats.

Re: VII. The Lost City
Bingus urges Dorin, who's now in the front of the group, to turn right once he reaches the end of the rope bridge, and the dwarf obliges. Once he and Rummus reach the end of this northern branch, they turn left allowing Bingus some unfettered access to the northern door, where the mage begins speaking words unfamiliar to the rest and gesturing with his hands before coming to a rest. "That should hold for a while," he says, indicating the door standing shut, and now held, directly in front of him.
The rest of the group trails behind in order, with Xhalh left standing on the bridge, just short of the turn to the right. The cavalier, holding his focus in the direction, hears the clanking of metal chains, not metal plates, approaching from that direction and, a moment later, spies Relve emerge from the darkness. The dwarf, whom had remained behind, confirms to Xhalh in a near whisper: "The are coming back from where we just were." Actions?

Relve retreats back to the others in the group. Silently alerting them of the human approaching presence. Speaking in a near whisper "They are coming back from where we just were."

Xhalh Vhaldharian, human 'knight'
Exhilirated at the impending chance to prove his mettle in glorious combat, the unworldly warrior sheathed his sword and readied his spear, to strike over Relve's head from the second rank!
"Good Malfindel!" he whispered. "Uh... Prithee... stand at my right hand (square 3) that thine aim shall be all the... uh... truer!"

Dorin being sort of stuck in the back takes out his bow.

Xhalh Vhaldharian, human "knight"
Hold, sir Relve! Many good thanks! Let us meet them here!"
"Nay, gentle maiden, I crave your pardon" grunted the coarse horseman. "Methinks if we advance, we fight only single file. Um. But from this crossroads, our archers may engage as well! Uh. Pray you now, come 'round upon my right hand (square 3).Zhym wrote:Malfindel rolls her eyes. "Come on, shorty. Boldly forward and all that crap."

Re: VII. The Lost City
With the door to the north magically hed, Lúthon and Malfindel turn back toward the west, bows ready for whatever appears, with Malfindel, at least for now, holding her position at Lúthon's side, despite the plea from Xhalh to reposition herself to his right, assuming the southernmost positioning of the group members. The "knight" sheathes his sword and readies his spear, preparing to attack over Relve's head, if able, while Bingus pulls a dagger from its sheath, hoping he doesn't need to use it and Dorin follows the lead of the elven twins and readies his bow.
The echoing of metal armor is heard clanking from the far eastern side of the underground cavern the group finds themselves in. Then it slows. With pulses elevated in anticipation, nothing is immediately detected on the far end of the eastern passage, which is beyond the range of illumination of Relve's lantern, which is negating any benefits of infravision those not of human blood may benefit from. Actions?

"Perhaps," answers Lúthon. "But if they cannot see in the dark, why are there no lights?"
Malfindel just grunts.

Xhalh whispers, "Hold. By my troth, we are stronger here. Uh... Pray Rummus, Bingus: shut yon lantern."
Once we can use infravision, we'll see if they're coming. Or if we need to lure them out.
We don't want to fight them single file.
If any other archer or thrower wants to stand on square 3, we'll have another attack deep into their ranks.
