[Continued] - Quirin/Dwarves II - 5 April, 1 VC
Re: Expedition - Quirin/Dwarves II - 5 April, 1 VC
Not while attacking. You can move back five or ten feet (more or less just trying to control the direction of movement in melee) but otherwise you need to sacrifice your attack to do a fighting withdrawal (your weapon action is all designed to keep you safe rather than hit).

hedgeknight, I believe turning undead is actually done on 2d6 instead of 1d20. I know I am kind of grasping at straws, but I'll take any help we can get at this point.hedgeknight wrote:Turn Attempt: [1d20] = 3

Ah, totally missed the roll was 1d20. Yes, turning is 2d6.

Re: Expedition - Quirin/Dwarves II - 5 April, 1 VC
Can Buryl do anything while he is being dry humped by this dwarven ghoul? If it's close quarters and he can't draw his sword, can he try a dagger attack maybe? Is it possible to simply throw the thing off of me and continue to run?
Re: Expedition - Quirin/Dwarves II - 5 April, 1 VC
He's in a ten-foot wide hallway. He can dry hump back all he wants. He's just in melee right now, he's not actually being grappled.
Re: Expedition - Quirin/Dwarves II - 5 April, 1 VC
How far away from sunlight are we? How many free attacks would he be giving the ghoul if Buryl just kept running?
Re: Expedition - Quirin/Dwarves II - 5 April, 1 VC
Almost 200 feet to the exit from where Buryl is. It would take him probably three rounds running full-tilt to get to sunlight, so likely three attacks from behind, plus whatever it got for regular attacks depending on how initiative worked out each round.

Re: Expedition - Quirin/Dwarves II - 5 April, 1 VC
Well, I have no idea what to do here so I'm just going to attack it and see what happens. If Buryl dies, hopefully you can learn from his mistake?
Buryl pushes away from the disgusting creature and draws his blade to attack it. He hopes that his comrades didn't completely abandon him while he still draws breath.
He thinks about how poor Crivit must have felt and his blow is somewhat weakened by his own fear.
Longsword [1d20+2] = 19+2 = 21 Dam [1d8+2] = 1+2 = 3
1 dam?

Not sure if I need to roll this or not...Initiative [1d6] = 6

No, the expedition leader already hosed you guys out of this round.OGRE MAGE wrote:Not sure if I need to roll this or not...Initiative [1d6] = 6
Re: Expedition - Quirin/Dwarves II - 5 April, 1 VC
Galen's confidence wavers a trifle as his attempt to drive away the foul thing fails, but he steels himself and readies mace and shield. Stepping up to aid Buryl, he swings a mighty blow...that hits only air.
Attack with mace: [1d20] = 4, damage: [1d6] = 2
I'm trying to remember if I have succeeded with a single attack roll in this entire campaign.

Just toss yourself in against enough monster and one is bound to stick!

round Two:
Enemy Initiative [1d6] = 1
What luck!
Abi continues her mad dash for the exit while Krysta, Galen and Bertram move back toward Buryl's position to help him fight off the monster.
Krysta invokes the might of Pelor, but it seems that the dwarves forces that created these things owe no fealty to the pantheon known among the men of the South.
Quirin keeps his eyes open, an arrow nocked and ready, knowing more could arrive at any second.
The monster is surrounded, but does not seem to care. It uses its claws as tools and weapons, clambering over the fighter to keep clear of Galen's and Bertram's weapons lest they strike their companion accidentally. Buryl himself manages to strike the creature full in the face with the pommel if his long sword, exulting to the sickening crunch that results, but the monster is stunned only for a moment. The creature, in return, manages to dig its claws in under the collar of the man's armor as it climbs around him, raking them across his neck.
Claw claw bite [1d20] = 18, [1d20] = 13, [1d20] = 7
Ghoul claw [1d3] = 1
Save vs paralysis, and take 1 damage.
The sounds of more of the creatures approaching can be heard. It will not be long before they arrive.
Ghoul 1: 8 HP
Actions and initiative!

"Let's take this thing down and get out of here!" Krysta says, charging the ghoul and swinging with her mace.
Mace attack: [1d20+1] = 2+1 = 3, [1d6+1] = 5+1 = 6

Buryl, feeling grateful that his companions did not abandon him, takes matters into his own hands.
Longsword [1d20+2] = 18+2 = 20 Dam [1d8+2] = 6+2 = 8 the roller likes me today it seems
There! Now let's ALL get the hell out of this accursed place!!!
As soon as he sees the abomination fall he sprints for the exit, grabbing and urging his brave party members along the way.
