Highway to hell
Highway to hell
The heros have descended into the ancient catacombs.
The musty tunnels are roughly dug into the stone of the earth after a mere 30' the sides of the tunnels become catacombed with ancient burial plots. At only 10' wide and in udder darkness except for their torches a sense of the doom hangs thick in the air.

Cautiously, Cilian peers into the first few openings he sees to see what they might contain.

Re: Highway to hell
The torchlight reflects off of something white 3' deep near the back of the cove.

Re: Highway to hell
Scy sticks his sword into the crypt and pokes at the white thing to see what it is - but he has a pretty good idea..
Re: Highway to hell
Cilian points out the object.
"Er... think it's just bone? Or maybe something else? I'd rather not disturb any restless spirits down here, but..."
He looks in another couple of spaces to see if they, too, contain white "objects".

Re: Highway to hell
Poking the object you dislodge an ancient skull, looking I the other alcoves you find other traces of ancient bones now petrified
Re: Highway to hell
Vik keeps his bow and a readied arrow to hand and continues to scan the passage up ahead for any Deathmongers that might appear and try to kill them whilst his mates investigate the apparent burial chambers.
He'll also be sure to ask his rangerly pal Scythius if he can determine if there are any tracks or visible signs of recent passage, or if it appears like they're the first ones to be down here in a long while...
OOC: Wolf: curious about how dusty & musty it is down here, compared to up above?

"Hmm, wonder if there's any petrified gold in there with them bones?" the young churl asks matter-of-factually.Alethan wrote:Cilian points out the object.

Alas poor Yorick, Tub murmurs. Tub checks for any secret or hidden things as we go along. More intensely whenever the party stops.

Re: Highway to hell
Scy nods back and scans for tracks as he goes.. he'll stick to the left side of the passage to keep his sword arm free and provide a clear shot for Vik with his bow.
Re: Highway to hell
Osric follows the others, hands on his hammer, scanning for magic especially in the alcoves as long as the spell lasts.
Re: Highway to hell
more musty less dusty than above. The floor is hard stone (scy roll 1d20)
The party travels 150 ft north and the tunnel branches east and west

Re: Highway to hell
Osric takes a look in the east then in the west tunnel.
Re: Highway to hell
Tub checks the floor and walls of the hallway going east (when Osric is looking east) and then west (when Osric looks that way) for traps and hidden things.

Re: Highway to hell
long tunnels of darkness in both directions, still filled with the burial alcoves all along the walls.
suddenly out of the alcove on the west wall you hear a squeak.

Re: Highway to hell
Vik almost jumps out of his skin at the squeak, and spins around to aim his readied arrow at the alcove on the west wall.
"You guys hear that?" he asks no one in particular, trying not to sound too nervous as he imagines a giant Deathmonger rat emerging to try and kill them.

Re: Highway to hell
movement reveals a rat staring at you.
An eerie silence falls as you hear another squeak behind you, and another to the east side of you.

Regular sized rat?

Re: Highway to hell
Cilian readies some darts in case he's able to take a shot at one of them. From the middle ranks, though, that might not be possible.

Re: Highway to hell
soon you hear squeaks, hundreds of squeaks echoing from the darkness. Giant shadows scurry in the edge of your torch light.
rats you see in the alcoves are all normal sized
