The party is standing before the moathouse, with the drawbridge down. Let me know how the party proceeds. (including going in, exploreing some more, or heading back to town to discuss the issues with the townsfolk.

Eichar will inspect the drawbridge and the area immediately in front of it. Does it look like anything human or otherwise has passed by?

Fendor, the elf ranger/cleric, will join Eichar, adding, "I noticed earlier tracks of human folk, maybe the signs of four or more. It had appeared that the main gate is where tracks entered or left, most going to the east and only a few towards Hommlet. It seemed that someone or something had occasionally been keeping an eye on the moathouse, kind of like what we were doing at the time. Any idea what lies to the east?

[OOC: Would any of us know of any interesting markers, towns, or places of interest to the east within say a couple days march?]

The cleric/ranger seems not to know how gracefully to end his verbalized thought and continues, "You can't be too cautious here, I say. Those frogs were unexpected. If I were a betting man - err, betting elf - I would figure on a kobold ambush, seeing the broken walls and rubble.

Nalin will keep to the middle of the group, color spray prepped.

You do see footprints coming in and out, there is a courtyard inside,

you see a few things of note.

The chains to the drawbridge are broken, there is no way to raise it.

The actual bridge is in ratty shape, there is planks over the wood, and the gates are battered open. Whoever was here before had one heck of a battle.

Vicroar will attempt to retrieve any serviceable arrows from dead frogs.

Eichar, figuring he is light without armor on, will cross the drawbridge doing his best not to make noise. He motions to the others to cover him as he crosses. If he successfully crosses he will peer into the courtyard utilizing any concealment that available to shield himself.

Fendor waits just before the makeshift planks over the drawbridge ready to charge to Eichar's side - if necessary - or to cautiously attempt the crossing if waved forward.

Eichar

You see a courtyard, there are bootprints leading to some stairs. There is a tower next to the courtyard, and stairs leading up. you would have to go into the courtyard to see more.

The rest of the party.

Eichar carefully walks to the doors. He is not attacked at this time.

If Eichar gives a wave forward, Fendor will cautiously cross over the the drawbridge on the location of the planks and provide another set of eyes to checking things out.

waiting for the rest of the party to move forward or whatnot...

Nalin moves cautiously forward, sling at the ready.

Vicroar, having retrieved 2 arrows, will slide quickly and quietly across, arrow nocked, to join Fendor, Nalin & Eichar. Once there, he'll glance at the interior, then find a spot behind Fendor against the wall aside of the opening, fixing his gaze to the rear. Frogs gave him the creeps, and he wants no more surprises from outside. Already we have 3 pairs of eyes looking inside.

Cerun drifts calmly across the decrepit drawbridge, keeping to the planks as the others before him. Glancing about, he searches for indications of what inhabitants might be dwelling within the structure -- aside from the bootprints, that is.

The party sees stairs to the North East, and to the South west is a old tower. The courtyard is about 60x60. You can see footprints going up and down the stairs.

Fendor will use his ranger skills to study the tracks.

OOC: did they seem similar to the human tracks of at least four persons that he saw before?
