Re: OOC discussion
I'm still working on my char background stuff. Couldn't for the life of me find my old Greyhawk stuff. No worries; picked up the unboxed books off eBay for just a few bucks yesterday. Should be in-hand shortly.

Re: OOC discussion
That's cool. I've fallen a little behind on the game prep so we probably aren't starting until the end of next week. Some new PCs should be arriving shortly though ...

Re: OOC discussion
I am working on it too. I have some questions though.
there are 2 items on the char sheet,
Magic Attack Adjustment:
Defensive Adjustment:
what do I put there?
the PHB give lots of languages to 1/2 elves....list them all?
in the same vein, are we going to use any type of non-weapon proficiency system?

Yes.the PHB give lots of languages to 1/2 elves....list them all?
Nope, not using NWPs.in the same vein, are we going to use any type of non-weapon proficiency system?

Re: OOC discussion
Updated background story.
Question: Are we going to be doing our own rolls (attacks, damage, saves, etc.) using the Unseen Servant dice? If not, no big deal. But if so, then I'll start building my OCD macros.

Yes, set up macros for to hit, damage & save rolls at unseenservant.com. There may be some instances where I roll for you (some thief's skill rolls, for instance), but I'll try to call those out as they arise.

By the way, if any of you have yet to download the beta version of Dungeon Crawl Classics' upcoming RPG, do yourself a favor and do so. It looks extremely cool — worth it for the artwork alone.

Re: OOC discussion
So we have six players now and but 1/2 a cleric.
Ummm... since we've not really yet started, and if GQ is willing to allow a dwarven cleric, I'd be happy to either switch to straight cleric (after adjusting my stats, naturally) or multi-class a fighter cleric (again, after making one or two stat changes). With an 18 WIS, I could start off being able to cast several healing spells per day, which could be quite useful.
Possible, Gelatinous Q?
Thoughts, everyone else? Would we rather have the straight fighter in the front ranks? Or a dedicated healer who could still do pretty well in combat?
(Character generation is loads of fun for me, so I wouldn't at all mind making the change. Plus, it's been a while since I've played a cleric. But I am kind of tied to being a dwarf at this point, I think, so if GQ doesn't want a dwarven cleric, then I'll just stick to being a fighter.)

Re: OOC discussion
That's a generous offer, Alethan. I'm not necessarily against it (though it goes against my UA-hatin' ways ); you should know that I have an NPC or two up my sleeve who might make up the deficit, at least in the early going.
I say we put it to the group.

Re: OOC discussion
I am ok either way. It has been so long since I played, I really dont have a feel for what we need.
Dandelion - female half-orc beautyqueen in training (The Lone City in the Wildlands) OSRIC

Re: OOC discussion
Ha! My biggest bone to pick with UA is that I'm holding it all together with a large rubber band, and not the original binding glue! Stupid crappy binding. From what I understand, that is pretty much universal to the first UA printings.Gelatinous Q wrote:That's a generous offer, Alethan. Yep, I'm fine with going with the group consensus.
So far we have:
Yes - 1
No - 0
Not Responded - 5

Re: OOC discussion
Is currency, 1 gp to 10 sp, or 1 to 10?
OSRIC has it 1 to 10.
If it is 20, I need to do a little refiguring my equip list. Not much, but should have some left over coins to buy a night's stay at the inn...

Re: OOC discussion
I'm cool with either a dwarven fighter or cleric. It's all good!
Re: OOC discussion
Yeah, if we could make the change pre-launch, Alethan is cool with the change-up & GQ's okay with it, then put me in the "Yes" column, gentleman. You can never have enough healing or divine magic, I always say! Besides, we look pretty well set off for fighters, even with the change to a straight cleric if a dwarven cleric/fighter isn't an option.
Actually, I was really tempted to go with a straight cleric or even a cleric multi-class but when I rolled up my PC's stats, and realized I could qualify for a triple-class (which I've never played, btw) I quickly went with the fighter/mage/thief. Another deciding factor was being able to start at full hit points for 1st level, which offsets the horrible hit point average that all triple-classes without a Con bonus suffer from.
Quick Q: are we rolling for secondary skills?
EDIT: Alethan, I have 3 used copies of the UA & all of them have been coming apart since day one! From everyone I've ever spoken to, it's the same for them too.

Re: OOC discussion
We're using the PHB gold standard.onlyme wrote:Is currency, 1 gp to 10 sp, or 1 to 10?
OSRIC has it 1 to 10.
If it is 20, I need to do a little refiguring my equip list. Not much, but should have some left over coins to buy a night's stay at the inn...
10 copper pieces (common) = 1 silver piece
20 silver pieces (noble) = 1 gold piece (imperial)
2 electrum pieces (royal) = 1 gold piece
1 platinum piece (plate) = 5 gold pieces
Failure is always an option.

If we're going BtB:
10 copper = 1 silver
20 silver = 1 gold
2 electrum = 1 gold
1 platnum = 5 gold
This is how I calculated mine.
EDIT: Ha! Just saw GQ's post above! Glad I did it right!

Re: OOC discussion
thanks... I dont have the PHB and am using the OSRIC guide. Please corrrect me if y'all see anything amiss in calculations, etc from where the two are different. If it gets to be too many things that are fundamentally different, I will look to score on of ebay.

Yep, go ahead and roll them.Argennian wrote:Quick Q: are we rolling for secondary skills?
The binding on my copy has held up pretty well. Likely because I rarely open it.Argennian wrote:EDIT: Alethan, I have 3 used copies of the UA & all of them have been coming apart since day one! From everyone I've ever spoken to, it's the same for them too.
