Bürd hops from foot to foot in the water, grinding his teeth and strangling his axe, waiting for something horrible to finally happen.

Marcus, still treading water with ravenous fish, kamikaze birds, and a possibly dead and cursed body bloating beneath him; "Can someone get a rope or make something for my to tie around this thing so we can lift it up?" he goes down to try and wedge it out again.

Marcus Strength Check(STR:10): [1d20] = 11
Same roll as last time?!??

"Because yeah... it's pretty stuck in there..."

Smokey Toils
Smokey uses vine and long branch to braid a rope. Hold on man. Tis a delicate procedure, man. The guy in there is going nowhere. Afraid the fishes will consume your worm, man?

Take my sword and cut it free.

"Wait, toss me my spear again, I'll see if I can't wedge it open. And you would be just as impatient as me if you were out here, these fish are rabid and the birds are not exactly light when they ram into you!"

Once the spear is in his possession Marcus will try to wedge the butt of the spear between the thing and the rocks, if it is a corpse he does not want to use the pointed end for fear of causing more blood to flow out and make the fish even crazier.

Abel Goes over the bridge sticking to the stonework areas "This bridge is a catastrophe waiting to happen. Stones good and solid but the wood is terribly rotted."

Marcus:
It takes some time to get the spear butt in a good position, because you can't actually see where you're placing it through the fish. Once you have it wedged in, you still have trouble, because even though you have a nice lever in the spear, you're floating in water, and can't exert much force. Finally, you hoist yourself up out of the water as high as you can by pushing down on the spear, and with several attempts, feel the object dislodge. You splash down in the water, among the roiling fish, and come up sputtering.

The object, meanwhile, has been carried along the current, bobbing to the surface about ten feet from you. It is now floating gently southwards.

Marcus throws his spear to the edge and treads water after the corpse, "Abel! Get it!"

If it looks at all feasible that Bürd could stop the body with his extended axe without going in over his head, he'll try...

The object is ten feet downriver from where you are and in the deepest part of the river, so you are unable to hook it with your axe.

The object is floating away. Now that you can see part of it, you are certain that it is a body, blue-white from water-bloat and bound in black rope.

Bürd grinds his teeth and struggles out of the water, looking downstream for any place the body might wash up or snag on something...

It's not within sight, but you know that there are some rapids downriver. The body could snag up on the rocks. It might also get pretty battered.

The birds squawk in frustration as the fish disperse. The blue butterflies follow the body down the river.

Smokey Runs

Smokey runs down stream with what ever bit of rope he has created. He will try to out-run the current and find a likely place for the body to get hung-up.

Smokey mostly wants to ID the corpse.

Let's have... oh, say, maybe a DEX check? Relevant skills include running, lariat, and corpse-wrangling.

SMOKEY
DEX 14
[1d20] = 16 failure

How does a character obtain "skills" like running, lariat, and corpse-wrangling?

Well, if you do a lot of running, throwing lariats, or wrangling corpses, I might award you that skill when you level up.

Smokey sprints after the body, but it floats faster that he can run.

It will be out of sight, soon.

If we want to know who it is we must chase it man! I will come upon an obstruction somewhere.

Smokey continues to run.

Bürd has no illusions about his ability to keep up with Smokey, so he yells at his back, "whatever you do, DON'T untie it!" and jogs down the bank after him.
