The group charges from the burning mill into the tall grass to engage the unseen foes.
As you close in, the orcs who set the ambush rise from their hidden positions holding spears and move to engage you. talon breaks to the right flank and meets an orc wearing studded armor who appears to be the leader of the raiding band. He lands a solid blow on the disgusting humanoid that staggers him, but fails to fall him.
Rushing straight ahead screaming
may Thor smite thee the mountain of a man Osric brings his hammer down squarley on top of the head of the orc directly in front of him. there is a sickening crack as the orcs head twists at a funny angle and the creature collapses.
Vik the anger building at the series of events that seem to continualy befall his beloved group runs and shoves the tip of his spear into the gut of the orc facing him. the orc drops his spear and grasps viks as his eyes grow wide as saucers and he slowly slides off to the ground.
Scy with his long two handed spear moves with a little less vigor as he preapres his strike. the orc facing him attempts to bullrush past scy's range only to have scy shift his weapons angle and catch the orc in the throat. There is a disturbing gasp/gargle sound as the spear penetrates the orcs neck and exits the other side.
The remaining orcs move in to engage the party, with the leader and orc #1 attacking talon on the flank.

seeing their comrades dispatched the orcs redouble their efforts, moving foward with wild abandon. However the group manages to fend off their clumsy atacks.
Talon blocks one of the orcs off with his shield as he easily dodges the strike of their leader. years of combat experience kicking in. The rest of the young companions move and dodge the attacks, the last few months of hard training and combat experience making their reflexes take over.
Behind you you can feel the heat as trhe fire engulphs the mill and begins to spread into the dry grass.
