Section 4: Attempting the Snatch on Ace

#1 Post by Charybdis Richelle »

{GM}

Revs pulls the minibus along the sidewalk in front of the gates, taking great pains to do so normally and legally. He even signals before he pulls to the side. He parallel parks masterfully and completely blocks the small ramped part of the curb that allows access to the street. Now there is no way Ace can exit the fenced parking lot with a vehicle – well, other than ramming the minibus and hoping for the best. So, hopefully, to exit the area, he will have to get out of his Landrover.

If Ace notices that the gates are now blocked, his actions don’t show it. He finishes walking around his Landrover, opens the door, and climbs in. Then the big bad shadowrunner takes the time to fasten his safety harness.

---

{GM}

OOC: Ace has declared his Movement as Walking for this round. Walking around his vehicle and getting in uses 3m of his Movement for the Turn (1m to get into his van and 2 to walk from the passenger side door to the driver's side door). Opening the door is a Free Action. Fastening his safety harness is a Simple Action. Normally this would be a Free Action, but since Ace has already used his Free Action, it costs him a Simple Action. Starting the engine would normally be a Free Action, but since Ace has already used his Free Action, it costs him a Simple Action.

OOC2: Headstone is up on 29.

OOC3: Revised to account for Ace opening the door to his Landrover... Sorry for the confusion.

ooc:
Initiative: 29
Initiative pass: 1/3

1. Free action: Drop object ->Flare grenade

2. Movement: 2/6 walking

3. Simple action: Shoot front left tire
TN = base 4 (0-60 metres)→ +1 penalty (attacker walking) → -1 penalty (laser sight) → -1 penalty (target stationary) → +3 penalty (recoil) → -3 penalty (Gas vent IV) → Total = TN 3

Base damage: 12D → Successes: 3 (3+ 4 + 7) → Total damage: 15D

4. Simple action: Shoot windshield
TN = base 4 (0-60 metres)→ +1 penalty (attacker walking) → -1 penalty (laser sight) → -1 penalty (target stationary) → +3 penalty (recoil) → -1 penalty (Gas vent IV) → Total = TN 5

No damage: missed shot

5. Declare free action on next character’s combat phase: Speak a Word

Additional side note: Penalty for Ace to hit Headstone → +1 attacker walking → +2 concealing camouflage → +2 flare grenade = +5 TN penalty
/ooc

Getting out of the minibus, Headstone plans to walk right in front of the car.
He wants to make himself the main target if Ace starts shooting back.
Before he starts moving, he drops the flare grenade. Allowing the red light to shine brightly from behind, turn the attackers into shadowy figures to the ones sitting in the car.

He burst fires into the front left tire of Ace his car, followed by a burst aimed right through the middle of the windshield in between Ace and El Cid.
Once he finds a chance to speak out, he will give a clear command to both of them: Get...Out...

Headstone drops his flare and moves into position. He fires his shot and can see that he hit the front tire dead on. Only a few pieces of hard rubber fly off, more as though chipped away than as if punctured.

OOC: The remainder of the posted Actions will take place next phase.

{Bone Biter}

Bone Biter is up on 8 (a).

Bone exits the bus and scans the area, looking for an ambush. Then quickly sprints toward Ace in the Landrover. His large hands relaxed as he flexes his arms and shoulders.

{GM}

Bone Biter slides open the right side door so that he can exit. Turning to the left, Bone is grateful for the flare compensation in his cybereyes; otherwise the flare at the back of the van could have been troublesome. Scoping the area out, no obvious threats lurk in the shadows. The street does have a small bit of traffic, so people can see what is happening. Bone Biter then makes a straight run at Ace’s van, quickly crossing 8 meters in that direction, putting his nearly aside El Cid.

---

OOC: Okay, Bone didn't mention opening the door, but it would be necessary to exit, but he didn't use any other Free Actions, so he's fine. Bone opens the door [Free Action], looks around [Simple Action - Observe in Detail], and Moves toward Ace, declaring his Movement to be Running. His Quickness of 3 X his Racial Run Modifier of 3 = 9 m. It takes 1 m to exit the vehicle, which lets Bone sprint 8 meters toward the Landrover.

OOC2: Now the rear and passenger side rear doors are open. So, no one exiting through either of those needs to take an Action to do that. The Driver's side front and rear sliding door remain closed, as does the front passenger door. Those will take a Free Action to open before getting out. If he had wished to use it, Bone Biter could have made an another Simple Action.

OOC3: Tear-in-the-Rain is up on 8(b).

{GM}

Tears leaps out of the minibus through the door Bone Biter just opened and dashes pell mell toward El Cid. She lashes out, trying to hit him in the back of the head. But, ready to run, he whirls around as he hears the footsteps pounding up behind him. He raises his massive arms instinctually and tries to swing back. Cid’s unexpected movement throws Tears’s aim off, and she fails to connect. Likewise, not having had a precise location before he whirled around, Cid fails to connect with his counterpunch.

---

OOC: Tears exits the minibus (1 m move) and dashes to El Cid (8 m) using 9/12 of her Movement for the Turn. She attacks with Unarmed Combat [Which is a Complex Action].

OOC2: I will save attempting to secure Cid's feet for her next Action.

OOC3: El Cid is up on 7(a).

[El Cid]

"Ace!" Cid shouts before turning and running towards Ace's vehicle. He doesn't run straight to Ace's van but do a position that could hamper Ace's attempts to maneuver the van. As he lumbers towards his friend, he pulls out his Ares Predator and lets the induction pads in his hand sync up with the smartlink circuitry. He points his weapon back the way he came from and blindly fires a round towards the team's van.

ooc: Shouts (Free Action), Runs (4 x3 = 12 meters), Draws gun (Simple), SA fire gun (Simple).
ooc: Pistols 6, 20m to team van TN 5 base. +4 running, +8 blindfire, -2 smartlink = TN 15 (pending adjustments made by GM)
ooc: Roll: 8, 10, 16, 4, 5, 5 (Lol..was hoping to make it hard enough to miss. Looks like one hit to the rental van. LOL)

{GM}

El Cid runs diagonally into a position that would make it difficult for Ace to pull out the van toward the gate without hitting Cid. Firing blindly over his shoulder for show to help keep his cover, Cid is surprised to hear a ping when his shot hits the side of the van. A grazing shot, the bullet doesn’t even scratch the paint as it touches the doorframe and falls harmlessly to the ground.

---

OOC: Since using small arms (pretty much anything smaller than a light machine gun) against vehicles seriously reduces their effectiveness, the minivan easily dropped the damage to nothing. The base 9M dropped to 4L (1/2 the Power of the weapon rounded down and Damage Level reduced by one level). The minibus's 4 body was able to reduce that to nothing.

OOC2: Pacman is up on 7(b).

{GM}

Pacman exits the van and runs at full speed to the south fence and then runs down the side of it, ending up a little less than halfway to the van.

---

OOC: Pacman's Running speed is 12 m per turn. It takes 1 m to exit. He then uses the other 11 m to run as he described.

OOC2: I will reserve the rest of Pacman's run and his intended attempt to cuff Ace for the next Turn or two it takes him to actually get to Ace.

OOC3: Rev's is up on 6(a).

{Revs}

Revs pulls up his mask, wincing as he hears the gunfire and a bullet impact the van.

He continuously checks his mirrors and the traffic, ready to leave as soon as they have the target.

Free Action: Pull up mask
Delayed Complex Action: Ready to drive the van away from there.

{Baby Blue}

Baby Blue opens her door, and hops out. She runs 3m northeast, away from Rev's van and towards the wall of Murphy's Law. She runs in a hunched, seemingly panicked burst, ducking in and out of light and shadow, a small, slight figure. She runs 5m east along the wall, towards the back of the alley.

Then she collapses, and curls her small body into a fetal position, attempting to let out a high-pitched shriek of pain and fear.

----
OOC
Free Action: Open the door.
Movement: 1m get out of the car. 3m diagonally towards the wall. 5m along the wall in the general direction of Ace and El Cid. Directions above assume "up" is North on the map. 9m moved out of a maximum movement of 12m.
Complex Action: Negotiation, spending one Karma Point to purchase an additional die.
Skill die Negotiation(1):

Purchased Karma die:

I'd like to spend a second karma point to reroll any failures.

{GM}

Baby Blue crouches down and scuttles towards the bar; reaching it, seeming to try to keep to the shadows. As she progresses, she flinches now and then, occasionally whimpering or yelping in pain. Finally, she lets out an ear-piercing scream, falls to the ground, and balls herself up like a roly-poly bug.

{Skye}

Skye gets up from the bench and exits the Metro station. She looks in the direction that Chance went to make sure he isn't coming back for some reason.

-----

OOC: I don't know how much of that she can do in one round. It's just moving and looking, but I don't know the distances involved. However much she can do is fine.

{GM}

Skye dashes towards the exit of the station, making it a little less than halfway there.

Preparing to shoot soon, Headstone calls a shot to the windshield of Ace’s van.

Ace calls out, “Come on, Cid! Move your hoop, omae!” He then closes the driver’s side door, making it impossible for anyone outside the van to see him. Like nearly all vehicles built since the Awakening, Ace’s Landrover uses one-way glass, darkened to prevent drive-by fireballings by preventing magicians from being able to see a living person to target. All of the team hear the locks on the doors click.

{Headstone}

Headstone’s prior shot to the driver’s side tire of Ace’s Landrover is followed by a burst aimed right through the middle of the van’s windshield.

Once he finds a chance to speak out, he will give a clear command to both of them: Get...Out...

{GM}

In the chaos of the battle, Headstone's second shot goes wide, disappearing somewhere over the fence to the alley.

---

OOC: Skye runs 9m. That leaves her 11 meters to go to exit the Metro Station.

OOC2: Using a Free Action at the end of Skye's Action on Phase 1, Headstone declares a Called Shot on the windshield on Ace's Landrover.

OOC3: Ace's turn uses the Simple Action I declared last Phase that went outside of Ace's Action economy for the turn. So, this Phase has that Simple Action and a Free Action to close the door, which locks automatically as part of the Landrover's security system. He has a Delayed Simple Action and used none of his remaining Movement. He remains Walking for the entire Turn, so he still has 3m out of 6m to use later in the turn as desired.

OOC4: Headstone is up on 19. He has used a Simple Action to make shoot at the windshield. He has used a Free Action to speak two words. That leaves him a Simple Action. Headstone remains Walking for the remainder of this turn. He has used 2 of his 6m of Movement, leaving him 4m to use as desired for the remainder of the turn.

(GM}

Headstone hears the flechettes pepper the front end of the van, but he notes no visible effect. The paint doesn’t even appear to be chipped.

Less than a second after Headstone fires his third burst of flechettes, the team hears a clinking of metal as a turret pops up from the center of the roof of Ace’s van. They can hear the gun within begin to whirl as it cycles up.

---

OOC: On Phase 3, no one can see what Ace is doing. For record-keeping purposes, he has used 2 Free Actions (one of which became a Simple Action as he had already used his Free Action), Ace has a Delayed Simple Action, and he used none of his remaining Movement. He remains Walking for the entire Turn, so he still has 3m out of 6m to use later in the turn as desired.

OOC2: Headstone is up on 9. Ace will take a Free Action after Headstone goes. Then Ace will take his Action on Phase 4. He is the only one with an Action on Phase 4.

OOC3: Everyone (except for Skye who is two and a half blocks away and still inside the Metro Station), please make a Perception roll for free.
