Heading Out {Headstone and Revs}

Revs and Headstone leave the conference room, heading out the front door to go to the local bakery. Just as the door closes behind them and they step onto the walkway, Revs’s wrist phone rings.

{Revs}

"I'd better get this, it could be the van call."

He looks down at his phone to see if he recognises the number.

{Headstone}

Headstone gives a thumbs up as he takes in a deep breath of air, happy to be out of the house.
He takes his seat on his bike, while calmly waiting until Revs is done with his phonecall.

{Revs}

"I'd better get this, it could be the van call."

He looks down at his phone to see if he recognises the number.

{GM}

Glancing at the number, no, Revs has never seen it before.

{Revs}

Thinking this isn't a call to have in public, he slips back inside and takes the call, audio only.

"Good morning, can I help you?"

“And here I was thinkin’ it was gonna be the other way around,” a feminine voice says in the mixed tones of someone born to the streets but trying to learn better.. “Belfry said you might wanna borrow a car? I’m Slim Jim… Or just Jimmie if you prefer.”

{Revs}

"Jimmie, thanks for calling. My name's Revs. My friends and I need to rent a van for a few days, for a job. Belfry said you might have something suitable around that's available before it gets processed. Something that won't attract any attention."

“I’ve got two new pieces of inventory that have just come in. I ain’t had time to process them yet. One’s a 2057 GMC StepVan, standard model. Other’s a 2056 Mitsuhama Shogun Minibus. I can have either of ’em ready in three hours – brand new paint job, fresh plates, unregistered traffic grid interface. Either of those sound like what you’re lookin’ for?

"Is the Shogun gas or electric? How much?"

[Charybdis Richelle]

“The Shogun is gas,” Jimmi says, “I’ll make sure the tank is full before you take it out. Price is 1000 a day, but I’ll need a 5k deposit, refundable upon the return of the vehicle undamaged.”

"I assume the daily is payable up front? Are the rear benches suitable for larger metahumans?"

"I assume the daily is payable up front?"

“Yeah, sorry, chummer, but I don’t know you. You ain’t even givin’ me vid to see your face. In Ghost we trust. All others pay up front... in certified cred,” Jimmie says. “Maybe if we do biz again, that might be negotiable. But not this time.”

"Are the rear benches suitable for larger metahumans?"

{GM}

“You know, Revs,” Slim Jim says. “I don’t know. I hadn’t checked. Give me a nano.” Rustling and movement, then the sound of a door sliding open, then a bit of scraping, a loud thud, and one muttered, “Grud dammit!” sound over the phone. Then she says, “The buckets and the first two benches ain’t, but the last two are. I could swap that out for you if you need it. I got the parts around here somewhere, but I’d need two more hours. Those things are a slitch to get in place, and my kids are already out… shopping for the day, so it’d just be me wrangling ’em into place.”

Revs switches on the phone camera.

"Null sheen. I understand payment up front, I just wanted to be sure there was no confusion on my part. We'll need it for three, maybe four days, I'll know for sure by the time I pick it up. Two reinforced benches should be enough, but I'll check and get back to you ASAP. If I need more then I can help fit them if you want a hand, I'm a mechanic."

Turning on the camera, Revs sees a forty-something woman in grease-stained coveralls. “All right,” she says. “Sounds like we have a deal. Do you have any specific color you’d like it to be, other than white? It was white when it… came into my shop, so it should be somethin’ else when it leaves. Also, is a Seattle plate fine, or would you prefer one from someplace else in North America?”

“If you don’t need ’em reinforced, no point to doin’ the work. I’m just goin’ to break it down to components when you bring it back. But if you do need one or more reinforced, I might just take you up on that offer, Revs.”

"Artic! Seattle plates is fine, and whatever the most common colour for that model is, just something that won't stick out."

[Charybdis Richelle]

{GM}

Jimmie chuckles. “That’d be white,” she says. “But I’ll find somethin’ common. I’ll get started on those, and you get back to me about the seating, neh?”

{Revs}

"I'll let you know within half an hour, tops."

[Charybdis Richelle]

{GM}

“Frosty,” Jimmie says. “I’ll slot and run.” She disconnects.

Revs grins as he heads back outside. He heads over to Headstone "Sorted, 99% anyway. I just need to get something from the bakery around the corner. Then we can ride and I can fill you in at my place."
