After the post declaring the fact that it was an incantation hidden in fake work, I didn't think there was much more to be cleared. I was waiting for the team to pick up and move on, searching the library for the individuals involved.
Oh wow. Sorry, I didn't get that message. Even though I signed up to be notified about posts on the private thread, I was not getting them, so I never checked. From now on I will check on the private character thread every time I check for messages here.
I will post something today responding to the information and moving things along.
Ok, Warlock will attempt to power stunt a "detect" spell into the Multipower. Here's the basic formula:
Detect Magic (Class of Things): 5 AP
- Sight Group sense (includes Ranged, Targeting, Sense): 0 AP
- Discriminatory: 5 AP
The usual Disadvantages for the Multipower apply (Gestures, Incantations): -1/2
The final cost for the spell would be 10 AP, down to 7 AP with Disads, down to 1 into the Multipower as an Ultra slot.
This would require permission to put an "Enhanced Sense" into a Multipower framework, as they usually don't go there, but is often the case as in Gadgets in a Gadget Pool or Spells in a Magic Pool. Let me know.
The final penalty for the Power roll would be -1, for a modified roll of 13 or less. Warlock would like to take two extra steps down the Time Chart to give him a +2 on the roll. I am thinking this may take something like 1 minute or 5 minutes, you tell me what that would be.
Yes, I will allow this (but understand this is outside of the spirit of the no VPP house rule)
I will very much lean into the limited part of the text. If you try to do the same trick again would start applying stronger and stronger penalties to "encourage" you to purchase the power per the final sentense.
"If he wants to do it again, he should buy it as a separate ability."
Of course. The "Power Stunt" part is never intended to be a significant source of "permanent new" power combinations. It is more of a "spur of the moment" solution. Frankly, this spell should have been part of his basic grimoire, but I didn't think of it at the time and points were scarce during character creation.
As soon as we hit the next issue, I'll be buying this power. It is, after all, only costing 1 character point.

Frankly this is the exact reason why the house rule is no power pools and gadget pools this in the game.
You caught me at a moment of distraction this should not be allow in the MP at all. I said, OK so fine.
Detect Magic Discriminatory is 10 AP. You do not get Ranged, Targeting or Sense for free as that is another 17 AP.
