Does the glimmer of the ring resemble that of anything else? What is the general sense (if any) that Idwillen obtains regarding each item, with respect to the Balance of law/chaos?

Though Idwellin concentrates his magical detection to hone in on the nature of the enchantments, no further enlightenment is granted. Each item has a uniform glow.

The spell only detects if an object is magical, as in a yes/no, rather then defining it. One can always try the ring on...

Only one way to test the ring: Andover puts it on his left hand.

The ranger slips the ring on his finger. It fits snugly. The others see no visible effects to Andover, except a momentary look of perturbation, then a big smile.

Andover flexes his muscles and waves his sword around. "Well, that will do. That will do indeed." He then looks at the party. "Well, what are you laggards waiting on? Don't we have a mission?"

"Shen, please just ride my Pony Friend for a while. A horse under doubled riders goes no faster than I can walk afoot.

Also. Before we push on, let's look at the map and make sure of the distance to the next high spot. This mire is just a bit chaotic, and I wish neither to camp in a puddle, nor to slog through darkness looking for dry ground.

"Behold the mighty druid," scoffs Andover. "Commanding the power of the wilds and the awe of all those around him...until, of course, he uses up his handful of spells, when he turns into a fluffy kitten needing a nap by a warm fire. Perhaps he would also like us to read him a bedtime story?"

"We must march on. Beauty sleep can come later." Andover prepares his horse for further travels.

The druid smiles fifteen inches downward toward the back of Andover's head.

"Spare your horse, little one. Have a ride on my shoulders."

Andover flies into a rage! He jumps at Idwillen, quickly drawing Spellslasher and holding it at the druid's throat (although he has to stand on his toes to do so). "Impudent oaf!" he shouts. "You will keep your tongue civil when speaking to your betters, or you will lose it. I will not stand here and be insulted by a shambling son of an ogre and an otyugh!"

Bjorn approaches Andover, mace at the ready. Do you really want to walk this road, Ranger?

My thanks, Idwillen. I will ride your pony and, once he tires, I will walk beside him. I've not much gear so it isn't a hardship and it is good exercise for me, he says with a smile.

Andover sneers at Bjorn. "Mind your place, preacher. If I have need of you, I'll send for you."

"Ranger," says Idwillen, backing away from the much smaller warrior, "Truly, it's as though your personality has flipped around in just a matter of moments. Let's not forget, as you just said, we're on a mission here. What time should we spend on this silliness among friends? I meant no jest; meekly meant to charm you with my willingness to press on up the trail, even bearing my fair share of the load. Now, truly, friend, be charming; let Bjorn alone."

At the latest insult, Andover calmly sheathes his sword. "I will not sully this fine sword with your rotten dwarf blood. But you will learn your place!"

With that, Andover throws himself at Bjorn, fists flying.

But the hostile half-elf only manages to trip over his own feet.
