Re: Into the Temple
Ruthgar grabs the head of his flail, an intertwined carving of Tyr himself. Stand aside!!! He yells....
Attempt to turn:
Turn Skeletons: vs 10, number and duration: [1d20] = 20 [1d12] = 1 [3d4] = 8

Allan continues his pitiful jabs at the new onslaught.
Staff Attack (20) [1d20] = 2 Staff Damage [1d6] = 5

Re: Into the Temple

Dead flesh sliding from bone and with tortured moans of pain and hunger the living dread shamble towards the party who decide to stand fast.
Ruthgar raises his holy symbol and calls upon the power of Tyr, the lead zombie stops in its tracks and slowly begins to try and wade through the oncoming horde back the way it came.
Following suite Moony calls upon the horned god for aid, 7 more of the abominations turn back whence they came, but the tide seems never ending.
Phil and sandarin move forward to met the tide but run into each other spoiling their attacks. saxony (I rolled for you) lands a blow on one of the rotting corpses but it does not fall, as allan swings his staff but fails to land a blow.
then the undead swarm
2 grasp at saxony, the one he landed a blow on grasps him by the neck digging int's bony fingers in (8 damage).
2 attack sandarin with 1 landing a blow (2 damage)
3 of them assault Moony but fail to penetrate his defenses
2 try to grasp phil to drag him to the ground but can't get a hold of the muscular fighter
2 attack ruthgar 1 scraping his shoulder with his bone fingers (1 damage)
1 tries to grasp allan but stumbles and falls

Re: Into the Temple
Phil lashes out again, with similar results...
initiative [1d10] = 5 Attack roll [1d20+2] = 2+2 = 4 spear damage [1d6+4] = 4+4 = 8
If we all cluster near the Paladin, we should get the benefit of his protection from evil aura.

Re: Into the Temple
Agreeing with Saxony: Agreed, would be rather embarrassing to become one of the hoard. Let's move back to where we rest and see if they follow. Ruthgar will start to retreat the way the came.

Re: Into the Temple
Allan also will pull back in the face of overwhelming odds.
Re: Into the Temple
Retreating allows monster a free attack.

The group retreats form the face of the oncoming horde of the dead. The zombies grasp with boney fingers and jagged teeth trying to satisfy their eternal hunger.
Saxony, Sandarin, and Ruthgar manage to escape unscathed. However moony is grasp by 2 of the things ripping at his skin (3 damage), Phil is also wounded by one as he retreats (2 damage), and as he turns to run alan has the one who has fallen grab his leg and bite his calf (2 damage)
The party manages to make it out of the cave entrance alive. You pause to look back and see the shambling horde of rotten flesh moving after you, then they stop at the cave mouth as if some invisible barrier prevents them form moving any further, and then they quietly meld back into the darkness of the cavern.

Re: Into the Temple
Ruthgar slows to a stop after seeing the undead cease their pursuit. At least they stopped.... He will lay hands on Saxony and Moony.
For Saxony:
CLW: [1d8] = 7
CLW: [1d8] = 1
7 HP healed
For Moony:
CLW: [1d8] = 4
CLW: [1d8] = 7
7 HP healed
OCC: 2 x CLW deducted

Allan watches the undead carefully - ready should their restraint fail and they advance upon the party.

Re: Into the Temple
Phil quickly binds his wounds.
So, we can kill zombies, try to get through that door, or head back to town for more undead killing supplies...We could see if they burn better than the skeletons upstairs did?
longer comments, well above Phil's int, in OOC

Saxony
"Maybe these mysterious stones would empower us to coerce these foul creatures. It is not cowardice to retreat from a futile fight. We are faster then these shufflers. Let us go back down the tunnel."
He points the way taking the rearguard position to shepherd folk out of the cavern.

Re: Into the Temple
Phil Those fiends are probably more than we can hack through. I recommend we check out the door from yesterday again.
What stones are you referring to, did I miss something?

Re: Into the Temple
The door sounds like the best approach.... Sandarin and I will stay back whilst the rest of you take a gander?

Re: Into the Temple
The party traverses back through the catacombs until they once again reach the closed Iron door

It may weaken me but I will not stand back idle while others face danger sandarin advances with the others.
As you get closer you see the soft blue glow emitting from underneath the door. Sandarin shudders for a moment but takes a deep breath and stands tall.
If ruthgar nears the door he to will feel weakened
actions?

Re: Into the Temple
Phil sets his spear on the wall and draws his dagger. Allan, can you check for any traps or tripwires? If you find none, I'll try to open it. Who knows, it might not be locked. If that doesn't work, I'll get a running start and try to bash it down.
