Kiri does know that Grandfather was last seen holding a torch and mirror. If he still holds them, he would need space for that at least, and space enough to avoid setting his friends on fire.

If Amethu is with us, can he not take a swing?

I would have preferred him to stay guarding the doors which are tied...

Incidentally, I've always thought the -4 penalty for blind fighting was pretty generous. Imagine 4 blind humans swinging sharp objects in a small space within feet of each other...

I agree, that seems pretty generous. Maybe it's a precursor to 5E, where almost almost everybody except the puny humans has night vision.

-4 for blindness is only applied if you're attacking in the right direction and distance (e.g. the target has spoken aloud, or they've just stabbed you).

If you're attacking in the wrong direction or distance, you won't hit even with a natural 20.

I see that Amethu has historically been prepping his cleric spells similar to magic-user prep. Does he have to do that or is it more use what you want at the time of use?

I'm wondering, then, if a quick light spell would useful or harmful in our current situation....

In this game, spells must be memorized/prayed for in advance.

Also, the PCs have blindfolded themselves in defense of whatever turned Asterion to stone. They would not see the light of a light spell.

What would be the ramifications of lighting a torch and raising our blindfolds enough to only be able to see everyone's feet?

To light a torch and raise your blindfold enough to see your own feet would help you locate walls and doors.
But if your enemy is low to the ground (like a basilisk) or devious (like a medusa) you might accidentally catch a glimpse of them.

Torix is still going! I think? I checked the DM Guide's matrix for 4th level fighters and added the barbarian bonus for the ST. I think I got it right. I thought that a bonus or penalty for Constitution might apply, but didn't spot anything like that.
