Sigrún snaps "Letting the Zhodani inside your head is never a good idea!"
Seemingly surprised by her outburst she apologizes, mortified "Fyrirgef mik, Zaki!" She hurries on with "I just don't know..." looking uncharacteristically lost and uncertain "... I suppose... it might be for the best".
Turning to Flighty she presses the heel of her hand to her temple and seems to vocalize a stream of thought "If the talisman tested us... would it then turn us onto a path... and guide our next steps?"

Zaki takes Sigrún's hand and gently squeezes it in a reassuring gesture as she listens.Tiglath wrote: ↑Wed Oct 16, 2024 12:43 amSigrún snaps "Letting the Zhodani inside your head is never a good idea!"

“I think I’ve kept you up long enough. Get more sleep and we’ll get to where we can hopefully figure out what is happening with us. Let me know how the tests come out, Zaki.”

"So the doc will order check ups then? Great. Good night everyone."

"Let me set up the med scanners for each of us. It won't take long."

Re: 0006B Running From Empty -- Week Two
Sigrún holds on and simply looks at Zaki raising her free hand to touch the other woman's cheek and says quietly "Þú læknar mig".
(Trans = You heal me).
Re: 0006B Running From Empty -- Week Two
Upon translation, Zaki nods. "We heal each other."

Re: 0006B Running From Empty -- Week Two
Zaki finds enough med monitors for everyone to take with them, and programs them to record their observations to the medical section of the ship's computer under her medical authority as ship's physician. She does set Flighty as a backup, just in case.

Donovan nodded at Sigrun's words. "The Zhodani are just too good at this psionic stuff. I agree we want to stay away from them and not get swept up by whatever Imperial service disappears psionic individuals. I wouldn't be surprised if there was not an Institute on Daryen. But we need to follow Flighty's intuition to its destination before we try anything else." He will take the monitor and go back to sleep after a quick check of the transponder hack.

Zaki turns to Sigrún. "Are you ready to sleep?"

Sigrún shows her teeth in a bright smile "I am ready to give you the high score with the heart rate monitor".

Karcsi will happily take and attach the monitor.

Re: 0006B Running From Empty -- Week Two
Everyone goes back to sleep...eventually...and the night passes without further incident. In the morning, Zaki examines the readings and not one shows anything out of the ordinary. Not this time, anyway.
The ship's clock moves to 168 hours in jump space. The readings on the sensors show the intermittent blips usually gotten when a ship is about to emerge from jump.
Shortly thereafter the ship transitions with a twisting of space...and the crew's stomachs...and you are back in normal space.
The primary, yellow G5, is shining brightly off to starboard while a much dimmer red star is far off to port. You quickly pick up the three rocky planets orbiting the primary with the mainworld the third in sequence. Beyond you is an asteroid belt and then the M8V in a distant orbit.
Radio traffic is light, but a standard beckon is broadcasting that this is the Phlume system and reminding all ships to turn on their transponder and report in on Frequency C107.
Scanning surrounding space picks up 3 transponders: Twin States (100 ton Scout); Never Again (200 ton Free Trader); and Lost and Found (400 ton Merchant). The first two are outbound from Phlume Main toward their jump limit and the third is inbound to Phlume Main, just about to make orbit there.
You are 1 hour and 12 minutes at G1 from Phlume Main orbit. There are no immediate dangers in the vicinity...that you perceive, anyway.
Over the innercom Doug reports everything is A-Ok in Engineering and he and Bob are switching from Jump protocols to Normal Cruising protocols. The numbers and lights on the Bridge consoles confirm all of this.
