2ed Adventure Thread
Re: 2ed Adventure Thread
Baltir takes a look at the chest and aims at the lock this time. He lines his axe up and swings down.

Damage: 8

Re: 2ed Adventure Thread
The axe strikes the lock and two things happen. One, the lock breaks and the lid of the chest comes up enough to maybe wedge something inside and pry it open. Unfortunately, the blow needed to smash open the lock has revealed a fault in the manufacture of your axe head. It splits and is now more or less useless.
"Oh, bad luck." says Kenelm.

Re: 2ed Adventure Thread
"Bah! Crappy human craftmanship!" Baltir spits out in disgust at his cheaply made axe that he paid full price for. If it was a dwarven axe this kind of puny thing wouldn't have even chipped it.
"Aye, bad luck for *you* Kenelm cuz yer going ta be the only frontline warrior now." he says sarcastically, but truthfully...apparently he doesn't appreciate the mans remark. But the fact remains that he is now worthless in front line combat, although he'd never say it.
Taking the remaining handle of the axe, he uses it to pry open the box. Might as well continue to open the stupid thing, as it's already cost him so much.

Re: 2ed Adventure Thread
You manage to pry open the chest and inside you find the carefully folded clothes of a young woman or teenage girl. On top of these clothes is a leather-bound diary.

Re: 2ed Adventure Thread
"Good trade, my friend. An axe for a new wardrobe. Height might work, but you'll probably have to let the stuff out at the sides to get it to fit.
"And a young lady's diary. What a find that is. I'll bet you reprobates can't wait to read all her musings about boys." Darius' tone is condescending, but his mind is racing. 'Book-in-locked-chest' means only one thing to him.
"But I'll tell you what, Baltir: you can use my spear, if you like. I wouldn't want you feeling all useless and forlorn just because you broke your weapon."

Re: 2ed Adventure Thread
Kenelm says, "I wonder if the girl who wrote the diary spoke the same language as us. This place is obviously very, very old, but the food in the dining room was edible and these clothes are almost new. The diary looks like it might have been written in last night. Who's going to read it? Well, I will. I'm curious to see what's inside."
Kenelm takes the book from the chest and says, "Ouch!" Fearfully, you ask what happened. "Oh," he says, "I just pulled a muscle when I bent over too quickly."
He opens the diary and starts flicking through. "Hmmm, 'Gwen, the servant's daughter, was so mean to me today. I hope she gets lost in the woods the next time she goes to pick berries.' Pretty gripping stuff. Lance, the son of a visiting nobleman is dreamy and writes poems, apparently. And, oh. Darius, maybe you should have a look at this. It's a story about a princess that Lance told this girl."

Re: 2ed Adventure Thread
Baltir once again snorts and puts the destroyed axe head in his bag along with putting the handle in his belt.
He takes out his flail
"Bah, I've got a stinkin' backup," he says very gruffly, as he kicks the chest over on it's side.
"Freakin' worthless."

Baltir snaps his attention to the direction the words were spoken. Bringing his flail and shield to the ready, he replies loudly and gruffly:
"SHow yerself!"
"SHow yerself!"
Re: 2ed Adventure Thread
Baltir growls in frustration.
"Don be doing that, KEnnelm....dang it!"
He ignores the request and tips the chest over with his boot.
"Meh, I guess we're done here..."

"Yes," says Kenelm. "Let's move into the next room when Darius here tells us what gems of interest he can pick out of the princess story."

Baltir huffs and nods...then leads the way out of this room and into the next room in the direction they were travelling.

It looks like Stik is busy with his new job and can't participate. I don't really want to recruit new players so perhaps we should just stop the game. Thank you for both for playing and I hope your new employment is working out well, Stik.
