Just to clarify - Silent wasn't trying to lay claim to the books, he was just offering to translate them for whoever took them.

If we are each only taking one item from Rusty's proposed list, we'll have four items left unclaimed. Correct? (8 PCs, 12 items of interest outside of loot)

What do we do with the remaining 4? We could dice for those extra things we were interested in, with winners taking a smaller share of cash.

Regardless, Silent has the shield and is happy with that. He expressed interest in the crossbow only because no PC had claimed it yet.

I think spoils of a given expedition should be divvied up between PCs that were on that expedition - not earmarked for other characters within the milieu. That being said, if someone from outside the expedition "heard" about specific items and wanted to buy/trade/etc that might open up some fun RP possibilities.

I knew that. Sorry if it didn't come across like that.

We'll see if Captain Bremen makes it back to town, and if so, if he has anything to show for it.

Damnation! Miss two days and you guys have posted close to 50 times! :)

The only items that Casper could even use are the dwarven war horn and the dwarven books. He doesn't mind letting someone else have the horn, but he'd really like to have the books and not sell them.

Which would Casper want more, though?

Can someone total that up to show the current item bids?

What I understand so far:
  • You are dividing the coins, gems, chessboard, and lock-chests as cash. (Clay has bid 160gp of his share for full value of the chests and chessboard.)
  • You are dividing the magic items, dwarven journals, ring, and locket via bid, with each person claiming one and the rest being diced for. All items are considered equal.
Is that right?

Baxtaw looks over the dwarven books. These are not spell books. These books hold some other magical purpose. This one here is clerical. He puts the leather bound books back in the chest that they came from. He will then wrap the Orbin a cloth. And puts it into the chest. These items should be locked away and secured somewhere. We need to find a wizard with far more skills than I have to determine what we have here. He then closes the chest.

Clay you may understand dwarvish, but even theses tomes are beyond your understanding.
sorry, I will help here.

There are two sets of books, which you are judging by their covers.

The first are the dwarven journals, which are non-magical. The sage is offering to buy them.

The second contains the huge, older, non-dwarf books. Baxtaw is talking about THOSE books, which the clerics identified as magical but he is identifying as NOT spellbooks.

Cash Distribution:
You go to the usurer and unload 1,400 silver coins (140lbs), 3,000 electrum coins (300lbs), and 20 gold coins (2lbs).
100gp - red-flecked green bloodstone
75gp - muddy black onyx
75gp - golden yellow topaz
25gp - striated green malachite
25gp - chipped blue-green turquoise
25gp - blue quartz
25gp - banded agate
100gp - a simple but elegant limestone chess set
30gp - An iron-banded wooden chest with sturdy locks upon it. (dwarven locks with keys)
30gp - An unlocked wooden chest (dwarven locks with keys)
This totals to 1644gp in gold or platinum (exchange fees already collected). That's 2,154gp total value with other objects included. That's 269.25gp each with even shares.

Clay Weatherwax: Requests two chests (30gp, 30gp) and the chess set (100gp), leaving him 109.25gp.

That leaves seven gemstones for the other seven PCs. you can claim a particular one if you wish, or if unclaimed, these will be parceled out randomly one gemstone and the remainder in cash for each person's share when I post the final tally.

Item Distribution:
Claims so far...
  • Fingers - A silver ring with the symbol of a cloud with three lightning bolts on a shield shape and set with 7 Clear Quartzes. It is of kingly workmanship. (1100gp appraisal)
  • Halfpint - One set of dwarf-sized banded mail in good condition
  • Baxtaw - a massive leather-bound book, ancient with crumbling pages and Eldrich markings on its covers, with wizard sigils.
  • Casper - a set of leatherbound journals written in Dwarvish (800gp offer from sage)
  • Clay -
  • Grizzly Woman -
  • Silent - A steel roundshield that is unusually light
  • Corbin - A well-worn heavy spear with a elongated head (1d8, can't be thrown)
Conflicted:
  • Clay / Grizzly Woman - a bronze dwarven warhorn with finely-detailed engraving work on it showing a succession of crowned dwarves.
Unclaimed:
  • a dozen ten iron keys of various shapes
  • a platinum locket set with 6 Red Garnets (400gp appraisal)
  • A masterfully-made dwarven crossbow with snarling hound carvings worked in the side (with 20 damaged crossbow bolts)
  • A well-worn spear with remains of a banner
  • A longsword of superb quality, a slender blade etched with runes along its length. It has a plain ball pommel and a black leather hilt.
  • a large glass orb which is filled with swirling liquid darkness.
  • a massive leather-bound book, ancient with crumbling pages and Eldrich markings on their covers, with dedications to dark gods. (chaotic, clerical)
So...
- Please confirm the item listed for you above, which is my best guess from the conversations.
- Clay Weatherwax/Grizzly Woman decide who takes the horn and who claims a different item.
- I'll dice off the remaining items.

My proposal for dicing: It will be an IC "pulling straws" with equal chances for everyone. I will dice down the list from top to bottom. Once you've won an item, you are removed from the pull, so that no person gets more than one random item.

The only thing Clay can use would be the horn. That would be his preference.

He would take the locket if it included the chess set with it in that share. (So posting for the chests out of his share.)

I'll wait on starbeard to weigh in. Or. If she wants more than a 400gp item, Clay would pay grisly woman some GPS so he could keep the horn.

Baxtaw will take the Muddy Black onyx. Baxtaw will also take the A longsword of superb quality if it is still unclaimed.

I'll make it easy and have the Grizzly Woman claim the orb. That way everyone's got an item and a share, and the rest can be randomly dished out as Marullus suggests.

She's fine with taken whichever random gem she gets.

This thread is closed. Please re-enter town and go to the Greenleaf Festival. :) You can also regroup into new parties and leave town whenever you are ready. All new expeditions will begin on June 2nd so that the festival can run concurrently.
